I finally talked my husband into taking me WDW. It has been a hard fought five years but he finally gave in. He still thinks there will be nothing for him to do there but I'll let him be surprised. :cool1: Now I get to start planning the whens and wheres.

You are going to have the most fun. The first trip, just DH and I, he felt that this wasn't his idea of a vacation. He had so much fun. We still talk about how magical that first trip was and now we go all of the time, taking our 3 grown children. In 2009, we make our first family trip that will include our grandson (he'll be 3 then). It never loses the magic and these boards help so much.

My hubby did not want to go either. I have always loovved WDW, even before we married. And he swore he would never go. But then we had kids and he cant say no to the little darlings!!:cutie: But, he had a good time, considered it our best vacation ever and is (for him!) enthusiastic about planning another trip. If you have kids, just a tip, let him have some time to ride "mannly" rides!:goodvibes

Wow, that is cooollll, watch, he'll probably become a DIS'er after you get back and be even more of a fantic about WDW(is that possible?)

It looks like it will be a relative short drive to Orlando, you could get AP's and go three, four, five or more times a year!!!

WOOHOO:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

:wizard:

How nice! Enjoy the fun planning and anticpating your trip. My DSO and I finally went last year and he had a wonderful time. Now we're planning a 4 Day Land/ 3 Day Sea vacation for April. The anticipation is half the fun.:yay:

We recently (finally) had our first trip and have already booked number two! :cool1: You will have a ball!

Hope he don't change his mind! LOL. JK
I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge since they opened. I totally love that place!!
Have fun and enjoy your trip!

Thats great.. I hope you have a great time... My Dh never ever wanted to go to WDW then I surprised him for his birthday a few years back and he is fan... not as crazy in love as me but he still loves it....

I hope that your husband gets covered in pixie dust and wants to go every year! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for the great replys. A few years ago I ask for suggestions on how to talk him into to going. Sorry to say none of them worked. He thinks that because we have no kids he doesn't know what we will do. The last time he went to Disney when when he was in Navy Boot camp in the early 80s (before Epcot). I don't think he has a grasp of how much Disney has grown and changed since then. I was wanted to go to WDW so bad I was ready to start planning a trip by myself. Just out of the blue he gave in and said start planning (and saving). I was so taken back by the "yes we can go" that I was speechless for about a minute (that's a long time for me :rotfl2: )

That is super. I am sure your DH will love it. We were so surprised the first time we went and how much fun we had.

Try to find out exactly what it is about Disney that doesn't appeal to him. (Be prepared it could be a long list!) We just got back from Disney. Our last trip was 6 years ago! For my DH what he hated most was the small hotel room, one bathroom, the crowded pool, and spending a fortune on dinner.

We rented a home with its own pool, and DH, who loves to cook, prepared dinner most nights. Having his own pool was heaven to DH. We even had cocktail hour right in the pool! Our house was only 10 minutes away so we could easily go back in the evening.

Some DH's just are not thrilled with traditional Disney attractions, but many of them love the water parks. We went to both TL and Blizzard Beach. I have never seen so many laughing fathers all in one location. Dads love those water parks.

I also had to talk my husband into taking a trip. We got married in September and he didn't want to go to the Caribbean because of hurricanes (this was in 2004). I suggested Disney and he said yes, just to please me (he told me this later). He wasn't really that excited for the trip but 1 day into it, he was hooked! He now calls it the "magical place" and is right next to me when I am planning. We have been since then and have a trip planned for this December too :woohoo: We now always have a Disney trip in the works!

COngrats!!!! Well I finally talked my DH into it once and now its his fovrite place! We stayed at the French Quarter and he loves the riverside and that he can go to either one. He loves the lounges no shock! The pools and has a great time! He even looks for hidden Mickeys and is a huge fan of the dining plan! Le Cellier is his favorite. DH and DS have birthdays 2 days apart and we celebrate it there. DH loves getting his birthday pin too.

He truly is my big kid on the trip. Have fun and watch some magic Pixie wishes for you and your DH! Did I mention he has to have his hawaii type shirts too! What a hoot!
