I finally after a lot of thought and thinking did my first add-on. I don't think that I caught the disease or anything...just that I wanted a few extra points as a b-day present...totally excited that I just bit the bullet.

Congrats - we have been thinking about it too, as we have borrowed on our last few vacations.

If you don't mind me asking, how many did you add, and did you add at your home resort or another resort? Also - did you go through Disney or a timeshare place?

In my thoughts about adding, here is how I was thinking of going about it

1. Add-On at my home resort. I would not be buying enought points (25-50) to gain any real advantage of booking at another resort, so I would want all my points available at the 11 month window.

2. I would like the same use year, I assume Disney would give you your use year, where with a timeshare place, I am sure that is part of your deal, but you may have to wait for one to open up with that use year?

3. Resale seems to have the better contract prices.

no I don't mind you asking...I only added on 50 poinst very very small. I split it into two 25 point contracts. My original contract is a not split and this time if in the event I did need to sell I know now that it would be easier to sell something smaller...I added on to BLT for two reasons: 1) for a MK room view...and 2) I love Wishes way more than Illuminations...so just to have th chance to see the fireworks...it took me a while to decide where to do the add on...at AKV my original resort or BLT. I decided BLT and only nervouse because my DVC is for me and DD7 who is completely in love with a SV room AKV. She is fine if we are at AKV loves the resort never whines. Is just so hahppy. I just hope she love BLT the same...I went direct through Disney since I could never find exactly what I wanted and the same UY....yay the contract pricing is better with time share store but I just could not find what I wanted. I looked for the entire month of September straight...it was my BdAY present to me and then I just did it direct through Disney yesterday since I have an Oct UY and they were going to give me the 09 points

Thanks for the answer. Not sure when or how much, but I like the idea of the smaller contracts. I really want the same UY, I dont want to be juggling points around etc... Our DD loves AKV, so if I were to add-on at a different resort, that would be the place. But, I like BCV's for location (EPCOT is my fav park), but my favorite them is VWL....oh the problems! If I only had enough $$$$

That's such awesome news! I've found a few occasions over the past couple of years for a few add-ons. My original home resort is AKV too and I have the majority of my points there. I have a few add-ons at other resorts too. I have a 50 pt at BLT and a 60 and 50 pointers at BCV. My goal is to travel to AKV every year, but also BLT every 3rd year and BCV every two years. It'll be nice to have two trips a year. My biggest issue to affording the airfare twice a year. It just seems to be going up and up and up (pun intended).
