The ride I said I'd never ride... this time, I actually swallowed my fear and rode it! Tower of Terror for the first time. And me with an elevator-phobia. :)

You know, it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. :)

Congratulations! I am very proud of you. Wasn't it worth it? :)

I think it was more worth it to be able to say I conquered that phobia than anything else. It was pretty cool, though.

And DisneyAddict -- people kept telling me but I wouldn't believe them. It doesn't feel like you're in free-fall. You're not, actually. Technically, you're controlled the entire time, and you can actually tell.

Way to go Tammi! I will get to that point someday. I know it won't be as bad as I expect I just have to wait for the right moment. ::yes::

Same here. I never expected to ride it, but honestly I think I did this time because DH wasn't there to be my excuse not to ride. LOL!! It was a case of friend's DH wanted to ride, friend sorta wanted to try it, I sorta wanted to try it, so we both said "I'll go if you go..." So we both went! Friend's DH didn't have any arms between the two of us after the ride (she held one, I held the other), but we both survived!!

And I can't believe how different it feels to be *controlled* going down vs in free-fall.

Way to go! You are definitely better than me. I don't know that I'll ever be that brave!

Very good!!! We are proud of you. I did it twice. The first time it was wonderful, no big deal. So, we did it again last Dec. Whole different experience for us!!!! I thought I was going to pass out that time. Nope, not going to be a third time for dd and me!!!

Being one that enjoys "thrill rides" I love ToT.

Please keep in mind that the "fall" or "falls" that happen at the end of the ride are a small portion of the ride. So much so, that they could eliminate the fall(s) and I'd enjoy the ride just as much with the special effects that happen throughout the ride.

Give it a try. You'll be glad that you did!

I can't wait til November so I can ride. When we went in 2001 (DS 10 at the time) would not ride, and I was not so sure I wanted to leave him alone while DH, DD and I rode. So I sat that one out.

CONGA-RATS!:goodvibes :cool1: :worship:

I rode it for the first time on our last trip. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to riding it again when we go back. I hope I like it as much as the first time I rode it, especially since this time my DS & DD will be with me for their first time riding.

I am proud of you! Cant tell you the number of people I have tried to talk into riding this ride!!

I agree with Mickey 0216, the ride up to the drops is so cool! I wish they had a non-drop version for the people who wont do the drops!! Like my MOM!!!!

Okay, I have a question on this topic....

I have not been on ToT ever. Always been to scared since I have somewhat of an issue with heights. Well actually I have a couple of questions...

1. I have been on Mission Space, while I enjoyed it overall, I am not in a big hurry to go back on, would you rate ToT scarier or less scary than MS.

2. Do you actually feel like you are high up in the air like on a regular free fall at an amusment park, If I can see that I am up high i have a problem.

3. Has anyone ever gotten sick from this ride?

My daughter wants me to go on with her because she loves it sooo much and wants to share this experience with me, but I will admit.....I AM SCARED!!! I would appreciate anything you can tell me to easy my apprehension, or help me decide once and for all to stay away. Thanks to all!!!

Way to go for being brave enough to ride the Tower of Terror. I've never been on it because I don't deal well with things that have Terror in the title :earsgirl: On the other hand, I've always been tempted to go on it. I've heard such cool things about the special effects--but the idea of the fall at the end always holds me back. Maybe next time, I'll work up my nerve!

I get so scared every time I ride TOT but I LOVE it!!

kerry34... Sorry to say but, yes. I'm not sure how I missed the fact that TOT could potentially trigger motion sickness, but boy, did I feel lousy after this attraction! Almost had to go back to the resort for the day but fortunately a seat in direct air-conditioning during ...Millionaire was able to revive me. I had skipped MS due to motion sickness concerns and now wish I had done that with TOT. Unfortunately (fortunately for me?) RnR was down our entire day at MGM so I never checked that one out. Perhaps I'll try Bonine or SeaBands on a future trip.

BTW... I was not particularly phobic about this attraction prior to riding. I am not into heights at all, but that didn't bother me. Also the pre-attraction build-up was fantastic -- just wished I had bailed out with DH and young DS prior to riding with DSis and my two teenaged DDs... :crazy2: :faint:

YEAH!!! Way to go!!! Aren't you glad you tried it? On our last WDW trip I was determined not to ride RnR, nor ToT. Dh and dd talked me into RnR and I'm so glad I did...it is now my favorite ride. Then they talked me into ToT. Though I can't say it's my fav ride, I'm glad I rode it. It's not nearly as scary as I thought it was going to be. I don't know if I'll ride it again on our next trip. Put it this way, I'm not going to go out of my way to ride it. But if there's not a long line or we can get a reasonable time for a FastPass, and there is nothing better to do (lol), then I may ride it again.

For the other poster who asked if you know you are up high: Yes you do know. Once you are up in the elevator a HUGE window opens up in front of you and you realize you are high up in the tower and you can see all of MK from up there. Then you know the first drop is coming!!!

Mary
(I am determined NOT to ride Mission Space this trip...and no one can coax me into riding it!!!!)

1) Comparing MS to ToT is honestly apples to oranges. I can say that MS is WAY more intense than ToT, but if your issue is with heights, you can't really compare. But honestly, if you can handle the intense feeling of MS, you'd be fine on ToT

2) Honestly, the only time I knew I was high up was when the windows opened, and that's only because I knew how high up the windows were. There were times I couldn't tell whether we were going up or down, really! And for me, when the windows opened, my eyes didn't adjust to the light fast enough for me to see out, it was just "bright light". So no, I didn't have any height issues at all.

3) Probably. But I'd be very surprised if as many have as have gotten sick on Mission Space. :) I didn't, and I have an elevator-drop phobia. I was fine by the time we finished shopping and walked out of the gift shop. :)

I can tell you that as someone who has a fear of elevator-drop rides, this did *not* trigger my fear at all. Nothing like what I expected. It does help when you *don't* know when the drop is coming -- just relax. The first drop was nothing because even though I thought I heard the hint that it was time to drop, I was sure we hadn't gone up far enough to be at the drop yet. ;)

It is definitely worth doing at least once. And if you can handle Mission Space and/or Rock N Roller, you can handle ToT. I didn't think it was as intense as either of the others. But it did help to have someone's arm to "rip off" during the drops. LOL!!
