Glenda, they look very nice and you beautiful!
Hope to see you in the parks in a few weeks.

Wow, I didnt know that your hair would do that! Mine wouldnt. Even with braids, when I take them out, I can still run my fingers through it! Now, I have no idea about white people and dreads - if they wash them or not. Seems like they would, or they would stink
Being in Disney mostlly hair free was one of the reasons I did it so soon! BUT, I know I'm gonna have some sort of scarf/bandana on at AFRICA HOT Animal Kingdom!!! WHEW!!!
Just make sure if you're wearing no bandana or hat that you use sunscreen. Don't want to burn your scalp. I always apply sunscreen to my part and even then it sometimes burns.
3. Washing - since mine are new, and can still be combed out, they have to be washed very carefully then re-twisted. I won't do this on my own. I'm going back to the shop for that. For longer, loced hair, they are shampooed, and conditioned like regular hair, since the hair can not unravel.
That is very interesting. I always wondered how it all stayed together and looked so neat on most people. I figured that you'd wash your scalp and let it air dry then you'd have to twist everything again.. not from scratch, but just to tighten it up again.
OH! That actually sounds familiar. I did read somewhere about washing it with a mild soap. When I go back to the shop for my first wash, I'll let you all know what they did!My cousin washed hers, but you mainly just get the scalp, not much further down so you're not disrupting anything. And I think she used very mild, special, shampoo or rather, more along the lines of soap.
YAY!! I'm really starting to get excited! If you spot me PLEASE say hello! And act real excited so my Mom will know that my "internet friends" are real! HA! (and even if my hair is a hot, fuzzy, mess, say how cute I lookGlenda, they look very nice and you beautiful!Hope to see you in the parks in a few weeks.

OH MY GOSH!!!! IT'S YOU!!! I've missed you!!! I'm so glad you like my hair.GMax, you still lookin' good!![]()
You know my favorite part.![]()
I wouldn't ask her! I'm such a chicken. If her hair looks a HOT MESS, she might be crazy! HA! (I know, I'm bad)I've seen a white chick at our library storytime who has dreds a couple of times but it just looks totally gross. They don't smell (not that I can tell) and I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to properly phrase the question if I asked her about how/why she went about dredding her hair.
Thanks for your comments, glad you like them. A guy at my job who had them for years, and recently cut them off, said that I was off to a good start! My other comments are in red, above, but wanted to also say that you look great! I can't wait to see how they grow in. I could only dream of having them. My hair is baby fine and poker straight.
That was really interesting, I had no idea and it's a very fascinating process. Thanks for sharing it with us! I just met a guy who's been growing his dreads for 13 years, but I don't know him well enough yet to ask all these questions! I did learn that sometimes they just fall off (being that long) and you'll find one in bed. That was the girlfriend's info, not from him directly.
Keep sharing please!
Glenda! Love it! You look great. Kate thinks you like her more than me by the way....you can just keep telling her that...it's make her feel better..HA!

No, not finally you cut off all your hair. But FINALLY I get to see the pictures. I couldn't see them at work (some idiots in Management thought we would do more work if we couldn't access pictures over the internet). I could link to the thread but couldn't see the pictures. When I tried to get into the PM from my sister's computer her dial up internet kept kicking out my logon id and password.![]()
Today, I'm taking an HTML class at LSU and the first thing I did was log on to the DISboard and look at your new hairdo!
IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!!![]()
Sooooo funnny you said that, cuz that's just how I felt on Friday! I thought I was one bad Motha-SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!! HA!!!! I ROCK!!!!You are so courageous. Who cares that you have never been on Splash Mountain or Rock N' Rollercoaster. You rock!![]()
Well Sneezie . . . Only your new growth will twist and Loc-Up. My last perm was 6 months ago, and I had about 2 inches of new growth. So that's what they cut down to.Question: Why did they have to cut off your hair? Why couldn't they just lock your hair at the length it was originally?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Both Lan and Glenda are going to be in Disney World at the same time that I'm usually in Disney World and this year I'm going later in September!
So NOT FAIR!!!!

I'm really gonna try since I was inspired by other hair journals! I couldn't believe that there were so many journals for locs!GMax - I love the hair. I never knew how dreads started before. You will definintely have to do a hair journal for us... I am excited to see the whole process.
