I could only book OKW, will we be happy there?

You'll be surprised how easily eight could fit into a two bedroom at OKW, pleasently that is.

I'll be interested in hearing your impressions once you finish your stay. OKW is very comfortable, physically and mentally; it's like having stress drain away as you drive through the gate.

The other reason OKW may tend to be available is that is membership has been around DVC a little longer - they are perhaps a little more likely to leave their "home" resort to try other resorts, or use their points somewhere other than Disney.

Next I'll be asking everyone for what bldg. to request so we don't have to walk a mile after the buses. I requested to be near Hospitality House, but don't have a clue which bldg. is best. But I guess I'll wait till the end to ask that. :D

There are bus stops throughout OKW and it usually isn't a very far walk to your stop. Some people have suggested getting a unit with "seperate entrance to bath". These are only in Bldgs. 30 and higher, which aren't near the HH (with the exception of the new buildings numbered in the 60's). You'll have to decide what your top priority is, the door or being near HH. Personally, I've never found it necessary to be right at the HH area. Even from the turnaround area of Old Turtle Pond, I've found the walk not a problem.

I agree with Pam. The only building we stayed in that we thought was a bit of a hike to the bus was 45. It always made us wonder if we should go to South Point or Turtle Pond stops. We like the South Point area, but will stay anywhere. Haven't had a bad one yet!

Jillpie, I too have 3 boys ages 12, 11, and 8 and they do not like to sleep together, even in a king bed!!! it must be a guy thing!, its funny sometimes the little one will sleep between mom and dad in the king bed, but not with his brothers! Anyways, when the boys want to be together, they will argue who takes the 2 cushions from the sofabed and sleeps in a sleeping bag between the two queen beds in 2nd bedroom, works fine for them and it must be comfortable and fun becouse they take turns doing it, it is nice becouse it leaves the living room/kitchen open for getting up early and letting the other family members sleep. Have a great trip.

I can't believe they say 8 can sleep here?

A king bed, 2 queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa -- that sleeps 8. Maybe your oldest would like crashing on the sleep sofa. The "master suite" has a TV if you and your husband would want to unwind after everyone else is in bed.

Keep in mind that at the other DVC resorts, some of them have a double sleeper sofa and a queen sleeper sofa instead of the 2 "real" beds.

You are going to love OKW !! We haven't stayed in a 2 bedroom, but the 1 bedrooms are incrediable! It's the size of an apartment. We are going down next April and are staying 4 nights at BWV and 4 nights at OKW. :wave2: ::MinnieMo

ok, thanks again. It seems the consensus is to have all three boys sleep together in the second bedroom and not have one sleep in the living room, yes? I can guess it is nice to have that space in the living room to "hang" and not have to undo the sleeper every day. We have a aero bed, but with a 2 br I wasn't planning on bringing it. I can't believe they say 8 can sleep here? Wow, that sounds crowded. I can't WAIT to see ANY villa. Its been a year since we joined but because of circumstances had to cancel the last two trips. I can't even imagine walking into one, after spending 4 years at POR. Thanks again folks, you're the best.
NOt crowded at all! THe second bedroom alone is bigger than the POR room! The living room is probably 2 times that size, and the master is huge too!

BIG UPDATE!!!

I had been on a waitlist for BCV and BWV (BCV being my first choice) and I called MS today to ask a question about my reservation, she stated that most of my week, except for the 11th (marathon day) is now available at the Boardwalk! (2 br) I really wanted to be on the Boardwalk in the first place. But my points were in holding still for part of the reservation (can't book till 60 days out), but she had me on hold for 10 minutes and came back and said she got permission to override the computer and booked the Boardwalk for me! :Pinkbounc
Now I must say I am extremely happy about this, I am still on a waitlist for the BCV's, but I will take this any day. We're still booked for one night still at OKW (11th) and hope to be completely moved over to the BW by the time we go.
I want to thank everyone here for reassuring my about OKW. I will not hesitate going here at some point, but as this is our first trip, I wanted our home resort (or at least in the Epcot resort area) really bad. So thank you again, you were a huge help!!

Hope you get that day you need. We will have stayed at 2 DVC's each stay this year and only because we want to use SAB. Since you really want to be at the Boardwalk/ Epcot area that is where you should stay.

Well, not that you'd necessarily want to take the time, but it might reassure you in the future to stop in at OKW and just check out one of the units. I would think the staff would be happy to show them to you.

Checking out OKW is a good idea. But do it on the last day, once you see all the room, going back to BCV or BWV will be difficult.

Just kidding, all the DVC's are great. If you had your family of 5 in a room at POR, at just about 315 sq. ft, the 1080 sq. ft. at BWV will feel HUGE!!!!

Have a great first trip HOME. :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

:bounce: I have been a member 03/94 and we just love OKW. When you get back from a long day at the park, it is nice to be where there is piece and quite. Also being the oldest of all the DVC's it is the largest in room sizes. Don't get me wrong we have stayed in the other ones and like them also, for other reasons.Like the BWV's are great because you have alot to do right out on the Boardwalk and is a walk to EPCOT same for BCV's. WVL's are great for the beautiful surrounding i.e. the woods, lakefront and is a boat ride to the MK. By the way I am on the waiting list to get into either the BWV's or VWL when we go back to the WORLD on 02/13/2004. So you see where ever you stay they all have something great to offer. ENJOY!!!!

OKW is my least favorite DVC resort. I dislike the location, I dislike the decor and I couldn't care less if my vacation accommodations are larger than my current apartment. I'm not saying that to bash OKW, but just to point out that even in the worst case scenario, it's still about 100x better than being at home. Maybe 1000x. I can't imagine not being happy anywhere on Disney property.

My home resort is Beach Club, where I stayed in 2002 and will be staying again in August 2004.

This year, I had to wait to book and ended up booking a 2-bedroom at Old Key West.

What a TREAT! ::MickeyMo

The rooms are huge and you will love it! Have fun. :wave2: :hyper:

Doug, thanks for your comments, but I posted on pg. 2? that I ended up getting availability at the BWV. I'm still waitlisted for the BCV for that week, but I'll take BW anytime! I'm very happy we get to experience the Epcot area for the first time. We're still at OKW for one night, but I'm hoping that we'll be able to switch that too. Someday we'll try OKW for the whole trip, but for our first, I'd like to get somewhat close to our home resort, you know?
