Really, I could!
Just got back to the room after watching Illuminations. No matter how many times I see it I still love that show. We had seats between Italy and Germany - we had some trees in front of us but still had a good view. One of the canisters that sends off the white fireworks was near us and we all jumped the first time it went off. I had my little one (DD5) on my lap when the music was playing and those lyrics really get to me and I get all choked up. And then the song about moving on, ever on always gets to me....especially with a lot of things going on in our family right now...sniff, sniff.
I love when the fireworks are over, the lights are dim and the torches are back on and the music is playing and everyone is walking out. Tonight we heard the Tapestry of Nations/Dreams parade song - hey lah oh hey lah hey lah..
We miss the parade. We walked through the International Gateway and decided to walk instead of taking the ferry. Lots of folks in the ESPN place and they were showing a hockey game. The basketball game on the Boardwalk was popular with the teenage boys. We looked above Spoodles to see our room...lots of folks in Flying Fish - how can they be eating after 9:30??
We got off to a late start this morning. For some reason my usual early-rising family has been sleeping in this week - we all didn't get up until almost 9!
We got to Future World around 10:30. First stop was Test Track for fp's - our return was 3 hours later. On to The Living Seas - we hadn't been there for a while so we made a point to go there. The Nemo exhibit in front is cute and has some great photo-ops. Inside we took the hydrolator. Lots of fish exhibits now and many relate to the Nemo movie - lots of the fish from it. There is also a big fish tank and we happened to be there when they were being fed by a diver - Feeding Frenzy!!!! We liked the manatees in another tank...the rays were also cool. DD had fun making a (paper) wave crown and decorating it with markers and cut-outs of the Nemo characters.
DS9 had a couple of pizzas from the stand near Test Track while DD got soaked at the spraying coke stand. Since it was Earth Day they were giving out square ED pins - nice for the collection.
We walked around Innoventions for a while and I lost my family to the video games. They were all trying the Haunted Mansion one.
Test Track was a blast! Before this trip DD kept saying that she wanted to ride it - and she stuck to her word and went on for the first time! She was a little bit spooked in the beginning but was a real trooper. She LOVED the fast part. (Which of course makes this Mom very nervous for when she's a teenager!)
It is the Flower and Garden festival right now and Disney does it right. Everything is blooming and beautiful. I have ben trying to see a few things but the kids make it hard. If I was alone I would enjoy walking around and looking at the flowers, gardens and exhibits more closely.
Time to eat so we headed for Mexico and the fast-food place. Not too bad. The kids like how the birds try to come in and get your food - they are not afraid of much. (both the birds AND the kids)
Time went past quick so we headed back to the resort. I had hit the wall and really needed a break. I have a blister the size of RI on my left baby toe and it's tough to walk. I was also exhausted and took a short nap.
Then off to Japan and a ps at Teppanyaki. Not too long a wait. The prices have really gone up here! And instead of getting salad, soup and ice cream with your meal now everything is ala carte - yikes! Even our waitress said that the prices went up and many people have complained. She also said there is new management. Food was great, as usual, and our chef was very entertaining. We also watched the one for the table behind us and he was nuts!!
On to the shop downstairs. DS was thrilled that they had more Pokemon stuff now. We love Japanese anime and they have lots of things with Totoro and Kiki and Spirited Away, etc. I took lots of pictures in the store for the scrapbook.
We stopped in Italy to watch the living statue - love her! She was doing some funny things especially with the men. With one young man she had him go behind her and she acted like she was falling and he had to brace her up. Every time he tried to get away she would fall more...very funny!
The kids decided to start their masks in America so DH & I got a break. It's so nice that they are older now and when they do their masks we get to rest instead of being right there with them. They also like to talk with the other kids. DS now likes to ask which resort they are staying at.
At 8:30 we staked out our firework viewing spot. And here I am now. Just after 10, House of Mouse is on, the lights are on all around the Boardwalk, I have the balcony door open so I can hear the activity. We were nervous that it would be very noisy in this room last night but it wasn't. After about 11 there is not much going on right on the Boardwalk.
Some observations....
Walking through the park is NOT a designated smoking area.
Other people also have to tell their kids to leave each other alone.
No matter how much you try to hurry a child they will always go at their own pace.
My kids fight as much at Disney World as they do at home.
Lots and lots of groups of teenagers down here and we haven't seen an unruly bunch yet.
No problem with line cutters, strollers or scooters.
After reading DelsWife's trip reports,Chip and Dale are forever known as Chuck & Dave. (My kids thought that part was hysterical)
Walking around World Showcase is still one of my most favorite things to do.
We only have 2 more full days of vacation and I can start to feel that end-of-vacation dread...
Off to bed...
