I Could Have Had a Cruise. Instead, I'm Going to WDW! May 2010 PTR - ONE MORE DAY!!!

Of course, this is all subject to change...you know how that is, right? ;)
Well, I guess this was more subject to change than I thought. Turns out that just today, DH realized that the work conference in St. Louis that he thought was the weekend of the 15th is actually the weekend of the 21st! Luckily, Delta still let him cancel our flights w/o any fees. And he had no issues cancelling Pop Century, since it was room-only. I'm very sad now. :sad1: There are no other weekends that have airfare even close to what we had gotten. I guess I'll have to go back to enjoying Disney in May vicariously through you (and at the Poly!) :goodvibes I guess I can't be too bummed about losing the "bonus" trip-we do still have our "regularly scheduled" trip in June. Good thing I never got around to posting about this in my own TR! Enjoy the weekend of the 21st-23rd a little bit extra for us! :thumbsup2

First off, glad to hear that you are feeling better. We've all been pretty stuffed up around here because of the pollen.

Your Snow White night was cute and I loved the snowglobes. Why, oh why, do I always look at food pictures right around lunch time?

Thank you Lisa! The pollen count is horrible here and it's making us pretty miserable.

I'm the same way about looking at food pictures. That's why I stay off the thread about food in Disney.

Okay, so on May 25th we were supposed to be going to Epcot for the first time during the morning. Well, in all our switching we decided to not go to DHS on the morning of the 22nd (due to Star Wars weekend) and instead go to Epcot. So instead of this day being our first morning in Epcot, it will really be our second morning. Which means that we will have already done some of the major rides and we’ll be more relaxed about what we do. But since I haven’t posted about what we’ll be doing on our first Epcot morning, I’ll post it here. Are we clear as mud? I thought so.

So we will probably all start off going to Soarin. If Lauren is tall enough we’ll all ride it. I can’t believe we all might be able to ride things together! If Lauren isn’t able to ride, we’ll do a baby swap (sounds silly doing this for a 3 year old, almost four year old but we’ll do what we need to do). Here’s a couple pics:

After Soarin, we’ll head to Test Track and grab some fast passes. We’ll then head over to Mission Space and let Alex, Mike and Mom ride the green side. Lauren and I will probably play in the play area at the exit.

Hopefully at this point we’ll be able to use our Fastpasses for Test Track. Once again, we will all ride if Lauren is tall enough (I guess I should measure her again and find out). Y’all, she’s already begging to ride everything so I really hope she’s tall enough. If she’s not tall enough, we’ll have to take turns using the Fastpasses.

Next I’m thinking we’ll either ride Nemo or Spaceship Earth. The kids LOVE Nemo. I remember after they first opened it, Mike and I weren’t to thrilled about going on it. We thought it wouldn’t be that good (I don’t know why we thought this). But we rode it and everyone thought it was great. We rode it 3 times last year. Spaceship Earth is our “go to” ride. You know, you have a little time before your dinner at Epcot so you go on Spaceship Earth. Your leaving the park but want to get one last ride in, you go on Spaceship Earth. The major rides have huge lines, you go on Spaceship Earth. At least that’s what we do. I think I mentioned before that we went on it 7 times during our 2005 trip.

Mine! Mine! Mine!

Anyway, depending on the line, we’ll then go on The Land ride. Sometimes we check the wait time and there’s no wait. Other times, it will be over 30 minutes long. I haven’t quite figured out why that is. Any one have any ideas? If it’s a long line, we’ll find something to do, if it’s short, we’ll ride it.

So up till now, I’ve been describing what we’ll do on May 22nd. Here’s what we’ll do on the 25th:

It’s EE for Epcot this morning so we just might hit Soarin again. I’m sure the kids will want to ride Test Track and Nemo again. Of course we’ll ride Spaceship Earth again.

Then I’m thinking we’ll check out Innoventions. The kids like to explore in there and it can give us a break from the heat (or, as the case was last May, a break from the rain. Y’all that went last year remember that horrific rain, right?)

Besides that, we really don’t have anything planned. Maybe we’ll head to Imagination, maybe not.

When we get to lunch time here’s our plan:
May 22nd - Me and Mom get food from the CS in Germany (More sauerkraut!!), Mike, Alex and Lauren get food from America.
May 25th – Get lunch at Sunshine Seasons (Kind of off topic but does any one else have trouble saying Sunshine Seasons? Go ahead. Say it 3 times really fast! I’ll wait………See, it’s not that easy is it?

After lunch on both days we’ll pick from going on Gran Fiesta Tour, Maelstrom, Universe of Energy (or as the kids call it: The Ellen Ride), watching the American Adventure and O Canada, and having the kids make their masks. Here’s some pics from Gran Fiesta Tour:

We won’t do all of those things in one day. They’ll be split up between many visits to the park. We’ll stay for a little while after lunch and then go back to the resort where we’ll hang out in the room, swim, grab a snack from Captain Cooks, play on the beach, maybe even nap!

We have a 5:25 ADR for CRT which Lauren and me are really excited about. Alex will live with it since he gets a sword. We’ll probably head to MK between 3:30 and 4:00. No definite plans here. We’ll just start walking around and see what rides have shorter lines. I would assume Alex will ask to ride Haunted Mansion again, maybe even Pirates. Whatever the case, we’ll go to CRT a little before our reservation. After dinner, we’ll start checking out lines again. We will be watching Wishes this night so we’ll have some time to kill. Alex has seen wishes before. He was a baby though so I don’t think he remembers it. Mom and Lauren have never seen Wishes. I can’t wait to see Lauren’s face when she watches it!

After Wishes, we’ll make our way out of the park (with the billion other people) and hop on the monorail and go back to the Poly. We won’t have to worry very much about being out late since there’s no EE the next day.

Where are we going the next day? DHS!!! Tower of Terror here I come!!!!

Up Next: Countdown Calendar

Nothing like starting an Epcot day with Soarin'. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Lauren will be tall enough to ride it as well as the other "big kid" rides. We did baby swap all the way up until our son was about 7 years old. There were a couple of rides that he refused to ride so we did baby swap which he made us refer to as "kid swap".;)

I love beginning my day with Soarin. Your day sounds wonderful. I can't wait to hear about Lauren's reaction to Wishes. It's my favorite.

I can't wait to hear about IJ night. I am certainly humming that tune tonight now.

Isn't it funny how you can live vicariously through someone's PLAN?? Well, when they have PICTURES it's a bit easier to do! :lmao: No, really, as I read your plans, I probably had this sappy little look on my face...it still seems like such a long, long long long long time from now... :sad2: until our trip in June....

:goodvibes Thanks for the stroll through the parks with you!

It's our "go to" ride whenever Kevin and I can't stand up anymore, and need a little 20 minute power-nap! :lmao:

We will start with Soarin' as well on our EPCOT morning. :goodvibes I have to admit that we love Living w/the Land and Spaceship Earth. Both are relaxing and fairly quiet rides. A nice break from all that walking. :thumbsup2

That sounds a whole lot better than baby swap. :thumbsup2 It seems like most people start with Soarin'. I love it!

I can't wait to see what she does when Tinker Bell flies through the air!

I'll be posting on Indiana Jones Night soon Megan. It was fun!

It's funny you mention the pictures Vickie. I was just telling Mike that we need to get another memory card for the camera. In previous trips, we haven't taken pictures of food, or much of the scenery. Well, since I'm planning on writing a trip report when we get back, I have to take a ton of pictures. I think last trip we took around 500? that sounds right.

June will be here before you know it! And then I'll be reading your trip report wishing I could go back.

Whenever we ride the Land I think of:

Let's listen to land we all love
Nature's plan will shine above
Listen to land, listen to land.

And of course I sing it and Mike just looks at me like I'm crazy. And then the kids start saying "Stop it Mommy!" And then the people sitting in front of us turn around and look at me like "What is this woman doing?" And then I sing it even louder! :lmao:

Well, I measured Lauren with her sandals on (which don't have a very thick sole on them) and she measured:

40.5 inches!!!!!!!!

:dancer:
:dancer::dancer:
:dancer::dancer::dancer:
party:party:party:party:

Tell her YES! ::yes:: (The minimum height for that is 40", isn't it?)

Yes, it's 40". I don't know if you can tell by the photos of her, but even though she's tall, she's itty bitty. She is a twig! I don't think I was ever that skinny. So I look at her and I see that she's tall enough but I just envision her little framed body on the ride. I'm probably worried over nothing. I just still find it funny that my 3 year old would ride ToT but my 6 year old won't. Although I did find out that it's the height that Alex is afraid of. Maybe Mike, Lauren and I will end up riding it and Mom and Alex can find something else to do.
