Never been pregnant but some hints for avoiding nausea:
- Ginger - as people have said, works wonders. Ginger biscuits, ginger beer, you can even by extract of ginger tablets at a health food store.
- Peppermint - very soothing and helps nausea no end. I don't know what Lifesavers contain but the UK version, Polos, contain peppermint oil and they're very good at relieving nausea - I use them when on flights because I get slightly travel sick.
- Camomile - obviously calms the stomach.
- Cola - seriously. Buy a bottle of cola (or any other carbonated drink) and take the lid off. Leave it for an hour or so until it's pretty flat (shaking it up before hand helps it to go flat faster). It's surprisingly good - it was recommended to me by a nurse after I had stomach flu. The sugar and caffeine in cola perk you up, too.
