...but did not see exactly what I was looking for.

1) Can I send my wedding dress (pretty simple, tea length) to be steamed somewhere? Know the cost? I saw that a formal dress pressing is $4.

2) I found where someone recently was able to order a 2 tier wedding cake for there wedding nite and it was brought to the dining room for $120. This is a great option. Anyone else had success with this?

3) Is there a way to set up some sort of group cocktail/appetizer reception for our group? Or something similar?

I can handle number 1 and maybe 2. I trust you are not having a wedding or vow renewal on board or at Castaway. If you are doing a wedding on board, call your wedding coordinator.

Yes, you can send your dress to be pressed. You could call them and make sure they will only steam it if it is a fabric that shouldn't be pressed.

Number 2--no personal experience, but...the cakes are part of the wedding package. People who have tried to order them in advance but don't have the wedding package have been turned down. However, people who have tried to order them thru Guest Services after boarding have reported success.

3...there is a private dining room at Palo that seats 12-14. That would be available if you wanted to do a group dinner...not sure if it is available for brunch. There are rooms available for private gatherings, but they come with a fee--private parties can arrange to use Sessions during the day, etc. Call DCL or your TA with details of what you want. Again if you are booking the wedding package, check with your wedding coordinator.

Thanks! we are not using DFTW. They were booked up for our sailing.
Does the private room at Palo book up very quickly? Who should I call to set that up?
I will check with my TA about the other rooms and fees that would be charged. Thanks!

You need to contact the Palo specialist through DCL's customer service number. They will tell you where to fax your request. You can book the private room for brunch. Those requests are honored on a first come first served basis...unless you are a Disney CEO or VIP...and you are notified of your confirmation at the 30 day mark. If you are flexible perhaps you could ask if there are any dates that have not been requested yet. From what I remember they have one brunch per day offered in the room and two dinners at 6 and 8:30/9. You will need the full names and resie numbers for each person in your party for the reservation to be confirmed.

thanks. guess i can't do anything right now then. i have a few procrastinating stragglers who have still not booked!

The private room is for a group of 12-14 people. They will not prebook the room for less than that.

They will not book more than that. If you have additional guest, someone can not attend. The tables holds 12. All guest are required to pay the $15 for the brunch as well. All of the other information is correct as they have told you. I have heard some people with the cake success recently, but I have heard of MANY without success....:confused3 Actually the two who I have heard here with success, have pretty simple ones compared to the one I had for my VR. Sorry they were all booked. Are you doing your ceremony in one of the PoC?:hug:

I have actually booked a group of 36 at Palo for brunch but it took a lot of planning and the fact that you are now past the 90 day point would make it very difficult to do. I booked the private room for the first 14 people on the list but kept a backup list knowing that nothing was guaranteed. Everyone who could made a brunch resie for the same day for as many people as they could. I boarded with our friends who were concierge and we went straight to RNBD and were the first ones in there. Marco and PJ helped me. I had a list of everyone's names and reservation numbers who we wanted to include and also a list of the brunch resie conf numbers that already existed. We had enough spots for almost 30 and they were able to get the additional seats that we needed and switched things around using the information I gave them. We ended up with 10 people at the large table outside of the private room and the 2 circular tables that seat 6 along the window right next to that one so we were in the same general area and were able to see each other and chat while going to and from the buffet.

So it can be done BUT you have to be organized and at the port very early.

We were able to get the two tier wedding cake on May 30th Magic sailing.

It was the same cake the DCL packages get, no difference. Cost was 120 but last week our credit card was credited 20 from DCL and when we called to find out about it, the credit was for the cake, so it was 100, not 120 :) We picked cake filling flavors.

I am sure this is a hit or miss thing depending on pastry chef and how much they already have going on. We saw two other wedding cakes being prepped that week on the galley tour. Was nice having it served in the dining room, the servers had laid out crayons spelling "congratulations" across the table (lots of crayons) and all the servers hummed wedding march when pastry chef brought cake out.

Hoping your wedding is Magical and that you are able to get the Palo seating!

Wow, 36 people for Palo, that is incredible! I bet that took some organizing!

I personally think that DCL could make a lot of extra $ if they were to do cakes to order on the cruise and charge for them.... I have to go find our old CDs of our cake and see if I can post them tomorrow.... Ours was BEAUTIFUL........ It was huge though and therefore I feel a lot went to waste. Grant it, I know ours was not typical as we had to have some extras due to some dietary restraints.... I think the pastry chefs on the ship are amazing..... They ahve always made our celebrations over the top with what they do for us!

thanks for everyone's help! Hopefully our final guest count will be btwn 12 and 14.
i will go to guest services when i arrive and work on getting a cake. it isn't the end of the world if we can't....but it would be nice!
it doesn't seem like dcl is very helpful when it comes to celebrations. that is unfortunate!:confused3

They are actually very accomodating with regular cakes and have many celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries and graduation celebrations each night at dinner at no charge at all. It is the ordering of a special cake that will rely on the schedule of the chefs to see if they will be able to accomodate your request.

good to know! we'd be fine with a regular cake. nothing fancy required!

Then all you need to do is call DCL or have your TA call...and tell them you would like to celebrate your wedding and which night you wish to have a cake at the table. After you board and meet your serving team the first night you can confirm the plan with your server, who will confirm with the head server and/or dining room manager on the day you wish to have it brought out. :)

Okay, Lisa, I know you have talked me through at least 5 times on posting pictures.... Can you PM me the step by step directions again "for dummies way" so that I can try to do them of the cakes. I have one of the one we had for our VR as well as the "new type" (Not the old jello top) of celebration cakes. Maybe this will help her with the "complimentary" v/s the paid (if they have time to do it) one.

I personally feel the new complimentary ones are soooo nice now, that people would be happy with those. But what I was referencing was if DCL started doing cakes to order, they would make more than enough to pay for a baker that was assigned just to the "speciality cakes." So many people ask, can I get a Cars cake, Nemo cake, Princess Cake, etc.... I know I would purchase one of Mickey if I had the chance..... Mickey Waffles, Mickey icecream, why not Mickey cake?;)

I'd LOVE to see the pics of both if you can figure out how to post them!
