I Can't, I'm Not Wearing a Princess Dress! - New TR link!!!!

Um, I had no idea who Suzie and Perla even were... I can't believe the Step-Sisters weren't there! We are going in a couple of weeks, and I'm hoping we get a good night. It will be our first time there...

Glad DD got to hang out at your conference with you- even if she just slept! Nice for DW to get some down time, too!

The real reason I woke up so early was so that I could check on DW and DD before their flight left. I figured they should be boarding the plane so I wanted to talk to her before they left. Well, it turns out that their 40 minute drive took about an hour and a half. DW’s dad drove them to the airport, which was the plan all along so that we didn’t have to leave a vehicle there. But a snowstorm came through overnight and the interstate was a mess.

I'm so thankful that I live somewhere where the weather doesn't completely delay (or ruin!) our trips.

I was supposed to attend 2 sessions this afternoon. The first one was on trade. It was brutal. DD quickly fell asleep lying across a few empty chairs and I almost joined her.

:rotfl2:

I'm actually surprised you took her to the session. Do some folks bring their kids in there?

While we had visited GF by monorail before, this was the first time that I’ve ever walked across any of the grounds there. It really is a beautiful resort at night.

Totally!

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.

:faint:

DH has gone into panic mode multiple times from this.

So I went back out the door at a slow jog (AKA, fat man waddle)

Please tell me you pump your arms like this

It was Perla!

Did not expect that character!

I went and filled my plate. And while I was hungry, I frankly don’t remember what I had. I guess I can say I wasn’t terribly impressed with the food. It was fine, there was nothing wrong with it, but also clearly nothing memorable. I remember thinking that I was surprised that there wasn’t more to choose from. It seemed like this was a little more limited in selection than most Disney buffets.

Welp, that's one place I guess we won't be visiting, so thanks for trying it out for us :thumbsup2

20160110_200521.jpg

Aw so sweet.

Once we were finally clear of the dreaded prince, DD was interested in watching Lady Tremaine as she worked her way over to our table. We weren’t sure how she’d feel about meeting her, but she was definitely intrigued by her. Once she approached the table, DD acted a little bit shy and had DW hold her for the pictures, but she ended up really enjoying this character interaction.

Totally shocking! Even Lady Tremaine kinda scares me.

And what a fabulous Lady Tremaine!

We did have one big highlight that happened that evening on the way out of the restaurant. Since we were on the far end of the room, we had to walk past all of the other tables to get to the exit. We were going past the characters’ entrance just as Cinderella was stepping off stage and she stopped to give DD one last hug and say “good night, twin.”

Perfect way to end the night for DD i'd say.

1. Do we go to a park on Monday afternoon? (5 points) If so, which park with a castle in it do we go to? (10 points) If you don’t get points here, that’s your own fault.

Yes, Magic Kingdom.

After 4. 4:01pm

3. I booked FP+ that morning while sitting in the convention center. What rides did we get FP+ for? (limit 3 answers, 10 points each for correct answers – keep in mind we already have some of the bigger FP+ attractions booked for our scheduled days)

Main Street Electrical parade, Dumbo, Peter Pan

4. What ride broke down while we were on it? (25 points)

IASW

A Dole Whip!

6. What snack did I buy to take back to the hotel? (5 points)

A cinnamon roll.

Phew that was difficult!

I woke up at about 5:30 am on Sunday morning, but despite the early hour, I felt well rested. Coming back to the room early and falling asleep turned out to be a blessing. My back felt fine and I was ready for the day ahead.

Phew! I know you've had some issues with the back before, something about laundry if I recall... Glad that wasn't the case this trip!

I went with rice and green beans. Quite frankly, I was impressed by the meal for being something that came out of a portable food court stand that they rolled into a convention center hall.

Yum! It's always nice when food is surprisingly good. The other option, surprisingly awful, not so much.

DD is typically a mama’s girl, but apparently she wanted to hang out with me since she hadn’t seen me in a few days. That actually worked really well. I told DW that I’d take DD with me this afternoon and she could get a nap in the room.

Aren't you the sweetest! I hope my DD becomes a daddy's girl; I'd love a nap at some point!

they wanted me to wear a suit, remember? I had to get rid of it.

For whatever reason I got an image of this guy when I read this:

While we had visited GF by monorail before, this was the first time that I’ve ever walked across any of the grounds there. It really is a beautiful resort at night. We were instructed to park in a lot on the right as we entered and walk towards the villas and then follow the covered walkway to the GF lobby. It was a nice, peaceful walk with the occasional monorail zipping past.

We went to the GF for Mother's Day last year. It really is such a pretty resort. I'd love to stay there, at least once. But then I worry I might dirty the place up, if that makes any sense.

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.

I would have died.

AKA, fat man waddle

My husband runs like this!

my wallet was sitting in my truck, right between my seat and the console.

I'm so glad it was there.

It seemed like this was a little more limited in selection than most Disney buffets.

Limited selection and buffet should not be used in the same sentence. That's no good.

It was in an upright contraption that looked like a drink dispenser.

I would ever have found it. I would have been looking for the big metal soup dispensers.

It was kind of a love and shove type meet with her at our table

Cindy! I dislike it when characters run through the their meets, but especially with a cutie little princess who is dressed like you! For shame Cinderella.

DD refused to have anything to do with him. In fact she ran over to my side of the table and laid face down in the booth to get away from him. Needless to say he didn’t waste any time hanging around our table and just moved on to the next.

Lol! This is kinda awesome. You're the only prince she needs!

she ended up really enjoying this character interaction.

I never would have guessed that! Glad she was a good Lady Tremaine.

bad, we had a nice enjoyable evening, but I just don’t think a 1900 PF dinner is necessarily that high on our radar anymore.

Yeah, I'd agree with you there. This was never a top spot for us, but after this review, it's definitely not an option for us. Maybe breakfast...?

got outside with DD making sure that we all knew Cinderella said she’s her twin

Stop it right now. I'm glad Cinderella made up for her brief visit! This is just too cute. I'm so happy she made DD's night!

You can!

Should we?

You should!

MissMaryQC: +25 for the late start, +5 for being the closest guess on the time the plane landed.

I may never make the leader board, but I am in this thing!
1. Do we go to a park on Monday afternoon? (5 points) If so, which park with a castle in it do we go to? (10 points) If you don’t get points here, that’s your own fault.

Yes! Magic kingdom (cause it's the only one with a castle in Orlando)

2. The convention center sells discounted tickets for entry after 2 or after 4. What time did we arrive at the park?

2:30 pm

3. I booked FP+ that morning while sitting in the convention center. What rides did we get FP+ for? (limit 3 answers, 10 points each for correct answers – keep in mind we already have some of the bigger FP+ attractions booked for our scheduled days)

Peter Pan
Barnstormer
A princess meet, maybe Merida?

4. What ride broke down while we were on it? (25 points)

Oh man, um, Small World

5. What was the first snack we bought at the park? (5 points)

Mickey Ice Cream bar

Monorail

I woke up at about 5:30 am on Sunday morning, but despite the early hour, I felt well rested. Coming back to the room early and falling asleep turned out to be a blessing. My back felt fine and I was ready for the day ahead.

Glad to hear your back was feeling better. Sleep really is a great cure sometimes!

I then got a text about an hour later saying they are still being de-iced.

Well that's fun. Always nice when the plane is supposed to be on time despite weather ... and then suddenly they change their minds.

The general session that I was supposed to attend this morning was at 9:30. Clearly, I wasn’t going to make it.

Yeah ... I guess the airline just did not want you to make it to your session.

It ended up being ok, because DD was happy crawling around on tractors that were being displayed and we were able to see a few people we knew and talk to them.

They make all of these expensive toys that parents are expected to buy ... and your kid is happy crawling around on tractors.
We live in a crazy world.

He asked to see my ID and then asked if we had any kids with us. DD was right behind me so I rolled down her window so he could give her stickers. We said goodbye and made our way in to park.

Yay! Stickers!!

The grounds of the GF are really beautiful! We saw them (at night) in January (just a day before you did, if I'm doing my math correctly). Definitely peaceful.

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.

Uh-oh.

Not to mention, we were gonna have to wash dishes to pay for our meal if I didn’t have my wallet. So I went back out the door at a slow jog (AKA, fat man waddle) out to the parking lot. Thankfully, my wallet was sitting in my truck, right between my seat and the console.

If you started training for Disney races, you would have gotten to the car and back much faster.
Just saying. :)

It was Perla!

What??? I did not know Perla would be at this meal. Crap, now I have to do it!

And DD wanted nothing to do with her. I applaud her effort to play peek a boo or anything else to try to get DD to warm up to her, but it just wasn’t happening.

Well that's a little weird. Perla and Suzy aren't that different ...why did she love Perla and hate Suzy??

DD, as usual wanted mac & cheese. I think I gave her some tomatoes and chicken tenders too, but she didn’t eat hardly anything. She was more interested in watching Cinderella as she walked around the room.

Well, who wouldn't be watching Cinderella walk around. Cinderella is awesome.

I love this picture!!

And there are no pictures of this one. DD refused to have anything to do with him. In fact she ran over to my side of the table and laid face down in the booth to get away from him. Needless to say he didn’t waste any time hanging around our table and just moved on to the next.

You've got a very independent daughter there - she doesn't need a prince to make her happy!

That is so awesome!! Yay Cinderella!!

Can we?

Should we?

Well, you can. But should you? Should you ever go to Disney?
Okay, that's a pretty obvious YES!

SarahDisney: +10 for the lost shoe, +5 for hating Shia LeBoeuf, +5 for elaborating on U-No-Poo.

Wow, I got a lot of bonus points. Score!

Still in 3rd, but I have work to do. Got it.

1. Do we go to a park on Monday afternoon? (5 points) If so, which park with a castle in it do we go to? (10 points) If you don’t get points here, that’s your own fault.

Yes. You went to the park with the castle where I had eaten breakfast that very same morning. Because you guys aren't the only ones who can eat meals with Cinderella!

2. The convention center sells discounted tickets for entry after 2 or after 4. What time did we arrive at the park?

2:01 pm

3. I booked FP+ that morning while sitting in the convention center. What rides did we get FP+ for? (limit 3 answers, 10 points each for correct answers – keep in mind we already have some of the bigger FP+ attractions booked for our scheduled days)

Hmm ... this is a tough one.
1 - Winnie the Pooh
2 - Pirates
3 - Haunted Mansion
I wanted to say Big Thunder, but we weren't able to get Big Thunder that day (my beloved FP+ kiosks betrayed me), so I'm guessing it may not have been available for you either.

4. What ride broke down while we were on it? (25 points)

"it's a small world"

5. What was the first snack we bought at the park? (5 points)

Mickey Ice Cream Bar

6. What snack did I buy to take back to the hotel? (5 points)

Hmm ... rice krispie treat

7. At which counter service restaurant did we get dinner? (10 points)

Well, since we were in the same park on the same day, I have to assume that we ate at the same place. So I'm going Cosmic Ray's.

8. What parade did we finally see in its entirety for the first time? (15 points)

Main Street Electrical Parade

9. What method of Disney Transportation did we use from the TTC to the park? (5 points)

Boat. Hopefully without a drunk skipper.

10. What method of Disney Transportation did we use from the park to the TTC? (5 points)

Monorail

I just found your report and I'm in love!! I can't wait to hear more about it. I hope you and your family are doing well. Y'all are in my prayers.

The general session that I was supposed to attend this morning was at 9:30. Clearly, I wasn’t going to make it.

There, there. It's ok. Gosh, I didn't think you'd be so broken up over it.

DD is typically a mama’s girl, but apparently she wanted to hang out with me since she hadn’t seen me in a few days.

:woohoo: Always fun to be the popular parent!

The first one was on trade. It was brutal. DD quickly fell asleep lying across a few empty chairs and I almost joined her.

Business, business, business. Numbers...

It was a nice, peaceful walk with the occasional monorail zipping past.

Just about any experience is improved with the occasional monorail zipping past.

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.

You entered Disney property. Didn't you just drop it in the bucket by the gate on the way in?:confused3

Not to mention, we were gonna have to wash dishes to pay for our meal if I didn’t have my wallet.

At least DD's dress has that extra-poofy stuff on the skirt to help scour the dishes.

It was Perla!

Hooray! :cool1: Wait, who?:confused3

Right behind her was Suzy.

What the...?

I frankly don’t remember what I had. I guess I can say I wasn’t terribly impressed with the food.

If it's not memorable, that pretty much says it all.

It was a decent meal and we were glad that DD got to visit Cinderella, but we weren’t really blown away by it. Especially after paying out of pocket and seeing the bill. I can’t say that this is a meal that will be a priority to return to unless we just decide we have to see Cinderella and don’t want to do CRT.

I'm not big on the character meals in general. I feel like they're overpriced and if you really want to see characters, you can see them in the parks.

On top of that, we got the “B” team of characters with Suzy and Perla instead of the Step Sisters.

I didn't even know a "B" team existed. That might have change my guesses...:rolleyes1

Let me tell you, when Cinderella calls a 3 year old girl her twin, that isn’t something that is quickly forgotten.

Well, there you go. All's well that ends well.

When we got back, we ran into some people we knew in the lobby. We discussed our respective dinner choices when they told us that a friend of theirs had just gotten back from Disney World. They took off that afternoon and got in with a discount ticket that they bought in the convention center.

:scratchin

A comment was made that there won’t be much going on at the conference on Monday afternoon. Having already looked at the schedule, I knew there wasn’t really anything that was “mandatory” between noon Monday and Tuesday morning.

Can we?

::yes:: Yes. Yes, you can.

Should we?

::yes::::yes:: Yes. Yes, you should.

Of course, we're all enablers here. This is like asking a casino owner if you should play one more hand.

5 points if you mentioned the dress or the TR title, just for guessing the obvious.

Wait, what??? Hold on, hold hold on, timeout. 5 points for guessing the obvious?? I'm busting my butt trying to come up with creative answers, and you're awarding extra points just for doing the most obvious thing possible? What kind of contest is this? I even pointed out when I did it, because I figured it would be a disappointment:

I guess I'll go with the obvious and say the evil stepmother and step-sisters.

Ask yourself, do you really want boring guesses? Do you? I'm just saying this for the good of the contest, and not because I lost a lot of ground in that chapter.

1. Do we go to a park on Monday afternoon? (5 points) If so, which park with a castle in it do we go to? (10 points) If you don’t get points here, that’s your own fault.

So...I should guess the obvious, then? Are there bonus points for that?

Yes. Magic Kingdom.

2. The convention center sells discounted tickets for entry after 2 or after 4. What time did we arrive at the park?

2:28:16 p.m.

3. I booked FP+ that morning while sitting in the convention center. What rides did we get FP+ for? (limit 3 answers, 10 points each for correct answers – keep in mind we already have some of the bigger FP+ attractions booked for our scheduled days)

Dumbo

Winnie The Pooh

Stitch's Great--sorry, I can't type that one with a straight face. It's A Small World?

4. What ride broke down while we were on it? (25 points)

Please, please don't say It's A Small World.

5. What was the first snack we bought at the park? (5 points)

Dole Whip (sounds like an obvious guess, huh? It was either that or a Mickey ice cream bar)

6. What snack did I buy to take back to the hotel? (5 points)

Well, another Dole Whip probably wouldn't last the trip. So...a churro?:confused3

7. At which counter service restaurant did we get dinner? (10 points)

I seem to recall you liking Pecos Bill's. Of course, that was before the Tex-Mex takeover. Still, I'll go with that.

8. What parade did we finally see in its entirety for the first time? (15 points)

The One Where Everybody Ignores Most Of The Floats Because They Just Wanna See The Mechanical Fire-Breathing Dragon. Man, I'm bad with the parade names. Hang on, let me go find it.

Here it is. The Festival of Fantasy Parade.

EDIT: you know, I changed my mind. I'm going with the Main Street Electrical Parade. I just left the old answer there because I was proud of it.

9. What method of Disney Transportation did we use from the TTC to the park? (5 points)

The ferry boat. Gotta get to the park quickly.

10. What method of Disney Transportation did we use from the park to the TTC? (5 points)

The monorail Because it's not a Disney trip until you ride the monorail.

Looks like you picked the wrong time to give up sniffing glue…

Well, it doesn’t look like I need to be in a big hurry to get to the airport.
Good thing you were already down there.
I can just see the commentary if you were driving and then got stuck in all that slop.

The general session that I was supposed to attend this morning was at 9:30. Clearly, I wasn’t going to make it.
Bet that plum ruin’t you’re whole day.

It ended up being ok, because DD was happy crawling around on tractors that were being displayed and we were able to see a few people we knew and talk to them.
Tractors > Blather
(I believe that’s one of the sacred truths.)

We basically let DD pick between pizza or macaroni and cheese.
Kid – choice – anything vs Mac-n-Cheese

I’d say the outcome of that one would pretty much be a forgone conclusion

Thankfully, she made the right choice. We got her some mac & cheese…
And… there it is.

Quite frankly, I was impressed by the meal for being something that came out of a portable food court stand that they rolled into a convention center hall.
Quite frankly, that speaks well of the folks putting on that shindig, then
They actually bothered to bring in good catering; a win in any book.

DD is typically a mama’s girl, but apparently she wanted to hang out with me since she hadn’t seen me in a few days.
Just wrapping you a smidgen tighter about that little finger…
You don’t stand a chance, ya’ know.

That actually worked really well. I told DW that I’d take DD with me this afternoon and she could get a nap in the room.
That, though… that right there was a very fine move on your part.

I was supposed to attend 2 sessions this afternoon. The first one was on trade. It was brutal. DD quickly fell asleep lying across a few empty chairs and I almost joined her.
Too bad you didn’t think to snap a picture of that.
I’m certain the organizers would love to post is as part of the incentives for bringing folks down the next time. Not to mention it would have been an adorable image for the TR.

I attended the meeting at our hotel that afternoon and after it ended I hurried up to the room to change. Because they wanted me to wear a suit, remember? I had to get rid of it.
Yes… yes you did.
No time for suites when you could be at Disney instead.

We brought Anna, Elsa and Cinderella dresses on the trip for DD to wear. We didn’t bring them into the hotel, so we just got DD dressed in comfortable clothes and decided we’d put her Cinderella dress on over the top once we got to GF.
Good plan…
So we’ll not be getting to the title this evening then.

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.
Whoops…
Didn’t remember to put it back in your pocket after checking in at the guard shack, did ya’?

Like I said earlier; I may be old, but you’re catching up.

Not to mention, we were gonna have to wash dishes to pay for our meal if I didn’t have my wallet.
More likely they’d had you working on the garbage sorting line down in the bowels of the park.

So I went back out the door at a slow jog (AKA, fat man waddle)
Stay-puft-marshmallow-man.jpg

We sat down and had our drink orders taken when we had our first character interaction.

It was Perla!
Who-la?

A mouse rather than a stepsister?
And not even Mickey?

Did not know that they did that over there.

DD, as usual wanted mac & cheese.
Well of course she did.

And while I was hungry, I frankly don’t remember what I had.
We did 1900 many, many moons ago, and that right there basically sums up our experience. It’s a good princess interaction, but lacking any particularly enticing grub, it’s not really worth worrying over for adults of families with only boys.

And there are no pictures of this one. DD refused to have anything to do with him.
Cause he’s neither a princess nor daddy.
That seems to be the most common reaction I saw.
Drawing that job as a face character would be one right tough (and demoralizing) assignment.

It was a decent meal and we were glad that DD got to visit Cinderella, but we weren’t really blown away by it. Especially after paying out of pocket and seeing the bill.
Oh dear…
You’re not supposed to actually look at the bill.
Just hand over the credit card you waddled back out to the car for and be done with it.

We were going past the characters’ entrance just as Cinderella was stepping off stage and she stopped to give DD one last hug and say “good night, twin.”

Let me tell you, when Cinderella calls a 3 year old girl her twin, that isn’t something that is quickly forgotten. While the interaction with her at our table wasn’t all that fantastic, this one little thing really made DD’s night.
There’s the Magic!
That just about makes up for that bill.

Just about…

A comment was made that there won’t be much going on at the conference on Monday afternoon. Having already looked at the schedule, I knew there wasn’t really anything that was “mandatory” between noon Monday and Tuesday morning.

Aw, how nice she wanted to spend time with her Dad

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.

Naturally, panic set in immediately.

:scared1: hate when that happens. I am always afraid I am going to lose my license and won't be able to fly home when I go away. (But if it was going to happen, I wouldn't mind being stuck in Disney lol)

Whoa, I didn't even know they were an option to meet. They are cute though!

We did have one big highlight that happened that evening on the way out of the restaurant. Since we were on the far end of the room, we had to walk past all of the other tables to get to the exit. So cute, pixiedust: perfect Disney magic.

Sometimes washing dishes at Disney sounds better than living in the Midwest during winter. :rotfl:
You make a valid point...

My DD4 lived on mac & cheese during our February trip.
::yes:: Our DD will live on it anytime, anywhere.

There is only one correct answer here. :D
When you're right, you're right.

My answers
1. Yes, MK
2. 2:40pm
3. Winnie the Pooh, Under the Sea, Enchanted Tales with Belle
4. IASW
5. Mickey Bar
6. Cinnamon Roll from Gaston's
7. Pinocchio's (they have Mac n cheese)
8. Festival of Fantasy
9. Boat

Got em!

Glad to see that your back was feeling better and that DD & DW made it without too much of a delay.
It was a relief to wake up feeling better. I'm really glad I didn't push it and try to do something Saturday evening.

I can't even imagine the panic of your wallet not being where you expected it to be! I always break into a cold sweat immediately when stuff like that happens to me.
Yeah, that's pretty much how it went down. I hate it when things like that happen.

Sorry dinner wasn't the greatest and that DD was not too thrilled about some of the characters. But I bet that sweet exchange with Cinderella at the end of the meal totally made DD's day!!
It definitely made the trip there worthwhile. Were it not for that little bit of interaction, it would have felt like a real letdown of an evening.

Well, I guess 1900 Park Fare was a learning experience. I'm sure it was nice to say you've tried the restaurant and can mark the "strawberry soup" off your food bucket list, but I get where you're coming from with the cost/value letdown. Honestly, I think a lot of Disney buffets are like that, but that's just me.
You're right. They're all overpriced. Although I do like buffets with kids before they're 3. Then it works. But aside from that, it really comes down to the characters. That's what you're paying for and if the kids aren't into them or they don't spend much time with you or you don't get the characters you aren't expecting... well then, it just isn't all that satisfying.

I can only imagine how happy your DD was after hearing Cinderella call her "twin." I'm sure she was on Cloud 9 the rest of the night.
::yes::

Got em!

Yay for some Daddy Daughter time! I bet she had big fun with that!
I don't know about big fun, but she had a big nap.

:rotfl2: I know how this goes!!!
I'm sure you do!

::yes:: Yeah it was wondering that resort at night that made me really want a chance to stay there some time.
I'm still not sure I really want to stay there.

Ok, sure I'd stay there. I'd stay in any Disney resort anytime.

But as far as priority choices, there are still several others far ahead of it on the list.

I knew I should have just stuck to my gut guess and not thrown in the dress guess.
You still did alright. :thumbsup2

Bummer. (And I had no idea what her name was. :rotfl: I actually didn't even know she met! )

Impressive with knowing the names.
Ok, I kind of knew the names because I'd seen someone mention on a TR that they wanted to meet them. I did use Google to confirm that I had the right name with the right mouse though. :rolleyes1

Of course. That's the way things go at those things isn't it?
::yes::

Its tricky to find I had issues too.
It was definitely not what I was looking for. I was looking for something over by the salads or near the dessert. Honestly, I'm not sure which course this soup is actually supposed to be. But being in the corner over near the hot food in a drink dispenser looking thing really wasn't what I was looking for at all.

And that is exactly why it took 2-3 trips to the buffet to find it.
::yes::

Disney Food Blog has a recipie for it. Its actually super easy to make. It's on my list for entertaining now.
You know, we've never tried any of the Disney recipes at home, although I think DW has found one for the cornbread from Whispering Canyon. I think she's just afraid that it won't end up being the same thing.

:rotfl: her too? Prince CHarming is such a dud. :rotfl:
No kidding.

I'd say that swapping the sisters for the mice that no one remembers is more like getting the d team. Its also probably why they were circulating so fast.
Yeah. I'm not sure I ever saw them go back stage. If they did, it was only for a few seconds and they came right back out. I've not seen any TR's or anything where they're out there instead of the sisters so maybe we just had the misfortune of catching a bad night there, but it was a disappointment.

:lovestruc What a magic moment!
::yes::

:cheer2: Now not to fall too behind with this round! :rotfl:
Good luck!

::yes:: MK (And Very subtle!)

After 2 I remember you mentioning it and getting excited thinking there may be a discount ticket option I hadn't discovered. I was then bummed to discover these tickets are for conventions only. :P

Fool! No kids! Whole bed, all to yourself!
Sleeeeeep!!!!!!
What was I thinking???

Good. Just don't do anything stupid like walk to and/or from the convention.
Honestly, it was still quicker than the shuttle... :rolleyes1

Whoa. When it takes almost three times as long, you know it was a bad snowstorm.
It was. But her dad drives slow. And they took her Mom's minivan instead of our 4 wheel drive SUV. So I'm pretty sure they could have made it quicker and safer. It was maybe 3 inches of snow with no freezing rain before the snow fell.

Sorry. You're serious here. You really thought it would be on time.

:sad2:
Oh, I had no expectation of the sort.

Yep. Saw that one coming.
::yes::

What the heck is a cell phone lot??
It is a lot on the edge of airport property where you can park for free, as long as you stay with your vehicle. You wait there until you get a call from the person you're picking up and then you drive to baggage claim to pick them up. Basically, it keeps you from having to pay for short term parking or driving around the access roads while you wait on them to arrive.

And I'm sure you were really broken up about that.
Tears flowing copiously.
You had to change your shirt.
Something like that.

Oh, she was, was she?
You didn't happen to mention your back, did you?
It was better. What's to mention?

Stop. You don't have to go any further.
Ok.

That's redundant. You already said she made the right choice.
Good point.

Huh. I wouldn't have expected that either.
It was a nice surprise. Although it was a portable food court that charged prices more closely resembling a Disney character meal.

And then you walked back again.
What are you? A glutton for punishment???
The pregnant lady chose. If she can walk, I can walk.

That was nice of you.
Did she nap? Or just enjoy some blissful time alone?

Never mind. If it was the latter, she wouldn't tell you.
I'm guessing she napped...

Oy. That much fun, huh?
Could be worse.
You could be in IASW or Tea Cups.
Or Ellen's Energy Adventure. That one definitely knocks me out.

Did you burn it? Or just send it down the trash chute?
Are you kidding me??? I hate wearing the damn thing, but do you know how much a suit costs?

This should be good (he said before reading the rest of the chapter.)
:rotfl2::rotfl:

Pixie dust! I had no idea they'd do that. Nice.
I've never seen them

Oh, man. Having that monorail overhead is just magic, isn't it?
::yes::

Dang. I was so sure that's what got forgotten.
It was a tricky one...

Oh, craaaaaaaaap.
I think I might have said something worse.

I bet! That's the worst feeling.
::yes::

Cute pic! Too bad it's the only pic.
I think it took her a little bit to realize that she didn't know who that was and get a little bit weirded out by them. I mean, in the movie, they aren't the same size as Cinderella!

That's weird. What's so different between the mice?
See the comment above...

Well, really. You can't trust a rodent.
I know. There's this one that keeps taking all my money.

Did I mention how smart your DD is?
Oh! Of course! Mac & cheese. Those mice would of course go for that.
Makes perfect sense now.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Huh. Have never been.
You're not painting a glowing picture here, dude.
Well, sorry. It isn't bad. I've had worse meals and I wouldn't be scared to go back. I'm just not in a hurry to rush back. There are other known commodities that we love and want to re-visit and there are plenty of new places to try. This no longer fits either of those lists.

::yes:: Saw that on Alison's TR.
::yes::

Interesting. Thanks for the description
No problem. I've always wondered what in the heck strawberry soup tasted like or what it was. This was the best description I could think of to convey it.

Too much stimulus?
Probably. Cinderella is all the stimulus she needs to be distracted.

Well, sure. He's married. Gotta hold out for the single fellas.
:rotfl2:

Whoops!
She really wasn't into him.
Not at all.

Prince = no. Evil stepmother = yes.

Well, okay then.
:confused3 Who knows what a 3 year old is thinking?

Excellent! I've heard so many good things about her.
::yes::She was great.

Oh. Didn't realize they were there instead of the sisters.
That... well, it sucks.
Yes, it does.

Got that.
Think I might just give it a pass.
I wouldn't steer someone from going there if they wanted to. But I'm also not going to rave about it and try to convince somebody to try it.

:thumbsup2

You should.

Yeah... it was a scary realization. I'm glad it was there!

Sounds just like a meal with Izzy. ::yes::
:rotfl2: I think it is just what kids do.

I had no idea they had a B team there. Sorry you didn't get the step sisters.
I had no idea that happened either. Now we know. :faint:

That is fantastic! Yes, being a "twin" is a huge deal to a 3 year old - Izzy is constantly insisting she and I both wear Tinkerbell pajamas to be "twins." I can totally imagine how excited your DD was!
Oh yeah, that was a big deal for sure!

Well, if you insist!

Yep, Magic Kingdom.

Thank you.

It really is too bad about your experience at 1900 Park Fare. I never knew not having the step sisters was even an option.:confused3 I think meeting Lady Tremaine with the step sisters would have been a lot of fun.
I really didn't even know that was something that would happen either. The big draw about that dinner seems to be the step sisters, so having them absent really was a letdown.

Um, I had no idea who Suzie and Perla even were... I can't believe the Step-Sisters weren't there!
I somewhat knew who they were from hearing mention of them in another TR, but I had no idea they'd make an appearance at 1900 PF.

We are going in a couple of weeks, and I'm hoping we get a good night. It will be our first time there...
I hope you enjoy it! It certainly isn't a place that I'd discourage anyone from going... it just fell a bit flat for us. I hope you get the step sisters and enjoy your time there!

Glad DD got to hang out at your conference with you- even if she just slept! Nice for DW to get some down time, too!
Yes, it worked out well.

I'm so thankful that I live somewhere where the weather doesn't completely delay (or ruin!) our trips.
That aspect would be nice.

I'm actually surprised you took her to the session. Do some folks bring their kids in there?
Eh... not really. But people come and go. It wasn't like she was going to be any more of a distraction than most adults.

DH has gone into panic mode multiple times from this.
It's a horrible feeling. Even worse than "Oh crap! Where's my phone?"

Please tell me you pump your arms like this

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Let's see... should I award points or take them away for this?

Did not expect that character!
Me neither!

Welp, that's one place I guess we won't be visiting, so thanks for trying it out for us :thumbsup2
Sorry... I wouldn't discourage someone from trying if they wanted to, but just not something worth raving about for us.

Aw so sweet.
She may have only given us time for a few quick pictures, but at least they were good.

Totally shocking! Even Lady Tremaine kinda scares me.
:rotfl2: She's harmless.

And half nuts.

And what a fabulous Lady Tremaine!
::yes::

Perfect way to end the night for DD i'd say.

Yes, Magic Kingdom.

Phew! I know you've had some issues with the back before, something about laundry if I recall... Glad that wasn't the case this trip!
The weird thing is that when I hurt it by overdoing it or something like I did that afternoon, I'm usually fine by the next day if I get some time to just lay down and rest. It's when something crazy happens like the laundry folding incident that usually cripples me for weeks.

Yum! It's always nice when food is surprisingly good. The other option, surprisingly awful, not so much.
:rotfl2:

Aren't you the sweetest! I hope my DD becomes a daddy's girl; I'd love a nap at some point!
She's still not a daddy's girl, but she does have her moments.

For whatever reason I got an image of this guy when I read this:

I'm not sure whether I should laugh or be offended! :rotfl2:

We went to the GF for Mother's Day last year. It really is such a pretty resort. I'd love to stay there, at least once. But then I worry I might dirty the place up, if that makes any sense.
That definitely makes sense! :rotfl:

I would have died.
It was a scary moment, for sure!

My husband runs like this!
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I'm so glad it was there.
Me too!

Limited selection and buffet should not be used in the same sentence. That's no good.
I know, it's just wrong!

I would ever have found it. I would have been looking for the big metal soup dispensers.
That's what I was looking for. I'm lucky that I just happened to notice it.

Cindy! I dislike it when characters run through the their meets, but especially with a cutie little princess who is dressed like you! For shame Cinderella.
I know. It seems that character meals are getting more that way all the time. We pay a premium to get to eat and meet the characters without waiting in line, but the interactions seem like they're more rushed than they were just a few years ago.

Lol! This is kinda awesome. You're the only prince she needs!
Aw... ok, enough of the sappy stuff. :rolleyes1

I never would have guessed that! Glad she was a good Lady Tremaine.
She was easily the best character interaction of the meal! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I'd agree with you there. This was never a top spot for us, but after this review, it's definitely not an option for us. Maybe breakfast...?
It was never top of the list, but I've always wanted to try it. It just worked out nicely for us being a meal outside of a park where DD could see a princess. I'm not too terribly excited about the breakfast there. Alice and the Mad Hatter just don't do much for me. I'm sure he's fun to meet, but I'm just not sure I want that kind of a character interaction first thing in the morning. :rotfl2:

Stop it right now. I'm glad Cinderella made up for her brief visit! This is just too cute. I'm so happy she made DD's night!
It did go a long way towards making up for the short visit at the table.

But then there's the cynic in me thinking, well what if we didn't just happen to be walking past at that precise time on the way out?

You should!
You guys are making this decision way too easy!

I may never make the leader board, but I am in this thing!
Yes you are.

And I got them all.

Overwhelmed and busy... and a little bit short staffed at work for the next 2 weeks. I'll finish replies sometime and I'm trying not to get too far behind elsewhere. I hope everyone is having a good week!

The general session that I was supposed to attend this morning was at 9:30. Clearly, I wasn’t going to make it.

You sound terribly upset about that one.

We basically let DD pick between pizza or macaroni and cheese. Thankfully, she made the right choice. We got her some mac & cheese, which was actually really good.

Always nice when the mac & cheese is good!

DD is typically a mama’s girl, but apparently she wanted to hang out with me since she hadn’t seen me in a few days.

AW how sweet. :goodvibes

I attended the meeting at our hotel that afternoon and after it ended I hurried up to the room to change. Because they wanted me to wear a suit, remember? I had to get rid of it.

I can totally understand that.

And yes, we remembered to change DD into her Cinderella dress before we made that walk

OK. Dang I blew that one!

So I went back out the door at a slow jog (AKA, fat man waddle) out to the parking lot. Thankfully, my wallet was sitting in my truck, right between my seat and the console.

Shoulda seen that one coming.

It was Perla!

Right behind her was Suzy.

I didn't even know these two were part of the lineup. They weren't there the one time we went for dinner.

I went and filled my plate. And while I was hungry, I frankly don’t remember what I had. I guess I can say I wasn’t terribly impressed with the food. It was fine, there was nothing wrong with it, but also clearly nothing memorable.

That's too bad, we really enjoyed the dinner there, but they also had a mushroom soup in addition to the Strawberry, so Fran just went back and forth, I think she had five courses and each one had a bowl of soup with it.

This time I found the soup. It was in an upright contraption that looked like a drink dispenser. I wasn’t necessarily looking for something like that which is why I think I missed it the first time. I got some and tried it.

I thought it was pretty good. It tasted kind of like somebody made strawberry shortcake, and pureed it to the point that it was liquid. I don’t know that I’d go back to this buffet based solely on the strength of the strawberry soup, but it was definitely my favorite part of the meal.

Yeah the new container really threw me as well. I was expecting a bowl too. I'm glad you liked the soup, but sorry that you didn't feel the buffet was strong enough overall.

After Cinderella was Prince Charming.

And there are no pictures of this one. DD refused to have anything to do with him. In fact she ran over to my side of the table and laid face down in the booth to get away from him.

The poor prince must have been devastated!

That's good. I remember her being rather pleasant, even if she did made snide remarks about Cinderella.

After hearing how great the Step Sisters are at this meal, it was a big letdown to miss out on their antics and I think that was only magnified when DD just didn’t care at all for Suzy and Perla. The fact that Cinderella was kind of “meh” and DD didn’t care at all for the Prince didn’t help matters either.

That's really a bummer about the step sisters, they were really funny if I remember correctly.

We were going past the characters’ entrance just as Cinderella was stepping off stage and she stopped to give DD one last hug and say “good night, twin.”

Oh, how sweet! I'm sure she ate that one up!

Can we?

Should we?

Of course you can, and why shouldn't you? Besides I'm pretty sure I saw something about you having done this on your last TR.

Once again, points were plugged into my spreadsheet. If you think I missed adding something, let me know.

I really came out at the bottom of the barrel on this one. :sad2:

So I read this update awhile ago, but I guess I didn't comment.

I'm glad to hear you received some positive news from the doctors. I hope things continue to go that way for your family.

:grouphug:

Wow, I'm impressed that your daughter did so well at the conference sessions!

That was nice of you to get a reservation at 1900 PF. Haven't been. Boys.

Wow, the B team- I wonder how they determine when you get mice and when you get the sisters.

It is interesting to see the reactions to the different characters from kids your daughter's. You never know what is going to happen.

Prince Charming? I thought you said Prince! I can't! I'm not wearing my Raspberry Beret.

That is pretty special to be called twin by Cinderella. I'm so glad to hear your daughter was so thrilled to hear that!

I hear ya.
Just posted something similar on my TR.

OMG!!! Did I seriousloy MISS this entirely? I mean not post, or subscribe? Nothing?!!! Gosh, Andy, I suck. I"m so, SO sorry!! I promise I'll read this ASAP, and catch up. :( I'm sad I"ve been missing out!!!

Well, it turns out that their 40 minute drive took about an hour and a half. DW’s dad drove them to the airport, which was the plan all along so that we didn’t have to leave a vehicle there. But a snowstorm came through overnight and the interstate was a mess.
Ugh...I hate travel in the snow. It makes everything more stressful, from driving to flying. It makes me think about moving south. At least they arrived without any incidents.

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.
In WDW without a wallet!? I think that's OK now. I'm sure Disney has invented some kind of teleportation device that just lifts money out of your wallet. I think that's the next phase of My Magic +. It certainly seems that way when I'm on vacation. ("I could've sworn I had a couple $20's in here, but I that was 4 Mickey bars ago...")

I thought it was pretty good. It tasted kind of like somebody made strawberry shortcake, and pureed it to the point that it was liquid. I don’t know that I’d go back to this buffet based solely on the strength of the strawberry soup, but it was definitely my favorite part of the meal.
I've read about the strawberry soup and I've been strangely intrigued and disgusted at the same time. I'm really not sure if I would enjoy it or not.

I can’t say that this is a meal that will be a priority to return to unless we just decide we have to see Cinderella and don’t want to do CRT.
For princess meals, I've only done breakfasts at CRT and Akershus. But I have to admit my family were all impressed with Akershus (if it had been for lunch, it may be different, since I have seen mixed reviews on the lunch food). The breakfast food at Akershus was great and I found the character interaction better than CRT. But 1900 Park Fare still seems interesting, especially getting a couple characters not usually in the parks, since Lady Tremaine and the step-sisters are gone from MK now.

On top of that, we got the “B” team of characters with Suzy and Perla instead of the Step Sisters.
I actually don't know how I would feel about this. The step-sisters are very good, but I think my DD would get a thrill out of seeing Cindy's mice friends too.

for suggesting I’d dress up as Prince Charming. (look, we all know there is no costume necessary)
:rotfl:

Wow, sorry about 1900, it's a bummer that there was no step sisters, they're best. At least you had a good lady Tremaine, she was the same friend we saw in May, loved her. In the end, lackluster or not, it sounds like dd had a good night and that's important. I love that Cinderella called her twin, too cute.

1. Yes, Magic Kingdom :thumbsup2

2. 2:15

3. PPF, Winnie, and Under the Sea

4. Peolpemover

I am soooo behind on TRs, I'm glad I was able to squeak in before the next update!

Well, it doesn’t look like I need to be in a big hurry to get to the airport. Our hotel was only about 15 minutes from the airport, but my original plan was to leave at 7:45 to go to the cell phone lot to make sure I was there plenty early. Instead, I kept checking the status of the flight online. It was showing an arrival of approximately 9 am. I waited until just after 8:30 and drove to the cell phone lot to park and wait. I got a text at 9:03 that they had landed but weren’t at the gate yet. Finally at 9:27 I got a text that they were in the baggage claim area and ready to be picked up.
I feel like winter flights are NEVER on time.

I’d grabbed an ADR for 7:30 at 1900 Park Fare. We thought it might be fun for DD to get an extra meal with Cinderella!
How lucky!

This is when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my pocket.

Naturally, panic set in immediately.
Sheer terror when that happens!

Thankfully, my wallet was sitting in my truck, right between my seat and the console.
PHEW!

I've never been there for dinner, but I REALLY enjoyed their breakfast. Its my favorite breakfast buffet I've been to at Disney. Unfortunately though, Cinderella isn't there for breakfast :(

It was closing in on 8:30 and we were still waiting for the face characters. We could see them working their way along the tables on the opposite side of the room so we knew it would be our turn soon. We took turn grabbing some desserts and had those while we waited.
But thankfully, our dinner host was following closely behind. It was kind of a love and shove type meet with her at our table, but she’d have an opportunity to redeem herself later.
Isn't it funny how that happens? You feel like its taking forever, and hope its due to some really great interactions, and it turns out to be a dud :(

And I have to say Lady Tremaine lived up to expectations. She was very much in character and without being over the top frightening to a 3 year old she made some comments about her dress and how DD had a better Fairy Godmother than Cinderella.
She has been EXCELLENT everytime I've seen her!

Like I said, we just weren’t blown away by the food. The strawberry soup was good and our server was fantastic. Aside from that, there just not much to say. It was just an ok, not very memorable meal. On top of that, we got the “B” team of characters with Suzy and Perla instead of the Step Sisters.
Yeah, thats definitely a bummer, the Step Sisters are usually a riot.

We were going past the characters’ entrance just as Cinderella was stepping off stage and she stopped to give DD one last hug and say “good night, twin.”
O.M.G.!!! I can almost hear your DD squeal with excitement!

Let me tell you, when Cinderella calls a 3 year old girl her twin, that isn’t something that is quickly forgotten. While the interaction with her at our table wasn’t all that fantastic, this one little thing really made DD’s night.
People often question if bringing children that young to Disney is "worth it" because the chances of them remembering it are slim. But I say, experiences like this one, even if she doesn't remember it later on, are worth every penny!!

A comment was made that there won’t be much going on at the conference on Monday afternoon. Having already looked at the schedule, I knew there wasn’t really anything that was “mandatory” between noon Monday and Tuesday morning.

Can we?

Btw, I feel sad that you didn't enjoy 1900 Park Fare. That was one of the highlights of our trip, back in 2007. So, it wouldn't surprise me if the food had changed, since it has been so long. (Fwiw, I had never heard about the strawberry soup back then, so we totally missed it!) I just remember that it had a good variety of food, and some of the better quality of the trip. Of course, we did get the step-sisters, and they were hilarious. I can see where the mice wouldn't be quite the same, sadly. Also, my son actually had a little bit of a bonding moment with Prince Charming, so I guess we appreciated him more than most people?

So, I'm glad you at least had the Goodnight twin moment to make it special!
