Part of the answer will depend on how many points you purchased and which resort.
Use Year has nothing to do with your annual fees- those are based entirely on the calendar year.
If you purchased on February 1 , you would owe 11/12 of the total dues. For example, if you bought 250 points at $4 per point dues, the prorated amount would total about $916. The prorated amount is based on purchase date, not on closing date- so depending on when you made the contact and paid a downpayment, your prorated dues could be based on a date even in January.
It does sound plausible that you would owe that much for your 2006 fees. If you purchased the minimum (150) points at SSR (annual dues are below $4 per point at that resort), then your total should be lower.
I'd continue trying to reach accounting for the answer appropriate to your specific situation.
Good luck!
