Why can't I get a decent airfare from Mpls or RST to MCO?

All parts of the country except the midwest seem to be getting good fares right now.

Anything under $300 these days I'd be happy with!!

Any suggestions?

I am looking for late March - early April timeframe

I feel for ya Hercamore~ :( We're flying from Amarillo, TX to Mpls on the first of March and airfare is $318 per person!!!! That's with AA. Luckily, we won two of our tickets and only have to pay for the third. Why is it that airfare in the northern states are terrible? Specifically Mpls and North Dakota???? Grrrr........ Good luck in finding good airfare!!

Hi, that's right you won your tickets!!

I need to sign up for free tickets someplace!!

I think thats the only way I'm gonna get a "deal".

Enjoy your trip back home!

I know this will start something, but my personal feeling about our high airfare is that NWA is the ONLY carrier offering non stop tp MCO at anytime now that Sun Country is gone. It boggles my mind that Delta can't offer at least one flight non stop from MSP to MCO. I am really hoping that the MAC can convince another big airline to tenant HHH if SC can't make it back - and I hope they have non stops to MCO. I just can't afford 4 tickets at $300 per person - it's insanely high.

My only suggestion is to try priceline or hotwire. We flew out of Duluth last February for $219 each (taxes, etc. included). But of course it was not nonstop. That price was with hotwire.

We are flying in 4 weeks for $106 (before taxes and fees) out of MSP . This is with priceline. We actually have really good flight times, too.

I hcecked hotwire for my times and they were higher than NW site!!

You have an unheard rate of $l06 pp.

Good for you.

What airline are you flying?

If your travel dates are flexible, you should be able to find non-stop flights on NWA for less than $300/person. I just found $286.50/person for a 4/2 - 4/9 trip. If you want to leave in late March and return in early April, you will have a tough time finding non-stops for that price. The "low" fares for the Easter timeframe appear to be pretty much sold out, even on ATA & AirTran.

I agree that the demise of Sun Country is going to negatively impact fares at MSP. Hope someone either rescues SC or another airline steps in to provide some meaningful competition to NW.

Good Luck!

We booked our tickets right thru Delta.com for May 4 - 13. We paid $146.00 but the airfare went down to $123.00. We received vouchers for the difference. I kept checking and checking everyday - even 3 or 4 times a day. Delta was the cheapest. I am not about to pay NW prices. It is really tough without any competition now. NW wants over $500.00 for about the same time but the only difference is non stop. I think I can make a stop for about $350.00 difference. By the way, Delta has a sale thru 1-6-02 if you read this in time. Good luck!!!

It is ridiculous....at least since Sept 11, fares to ND have come down (which helps me), while fares to MPLS have gone up.

You might want to try worryfreevacations.com. We have booked our vacations with them for the past 5 years and they are always very cheap. You can book air only or air and hotel. This year we have roundtrip from Detroit for $78 roundtrip. Whene you go to their site try leaving different days of the week because some days seem to be cheeper. I hope you can get a good deal.

Yeah, thanks, I did check mlt vastions worry free from mpls.

Still $758 for 2 tkts.

I booked our flight out of Duluth at $280 for 2/28 to 3/7. That's a little more than I like, but once we figured in the cost of park and fly, motel, time traveling, & gas, the difference was very small.
