I can't believe what DCL just did for me!

We were on the 1/22 Eastern this year and rebooked for the 1/21/06 Eastern while on board. When we got back and added up how much we spent for the cruise and all the extras (DW went a little overboard. No pun intended), we both said it was nice, but not worth all the $$ we spent for 1 week.

So, thinking that we'd go on a week long trip instead to Mexico or the Caribbean through Apple Vacations, we cancelled our reservation. :sad1:

Well now we are looking at the January vacations and they aren't coming up that cheap. We said to each other we could go on DCL again, though with a lower category room, for what we would be paying.

We felt bad that we cancelled the reservation we booked on board because we lost the 10% off and $200 room credit.

Well, we are currently booked and paid for the 10/27/05 3-night Wonder. I thought I'd call DCL and ask, since we had the reservation, but cancelled it, and will be sailing again before January and would have the opportunity to book on board again, if they could do something now for us with the old reservation.

The CM I talked to wanted to help, but had to talk to her manager. Her manager told her they couldn't do anything and that the on board booking bonuses are only available on board with the reservation manager on the boat. I asked the CM if I could talk to her manager, just to see if I could somehow convince her to make an exception. We got cut off in the transfer.

Well, I decided to call back. This time getting a different CM. I told him the whole story over again. He didn't even need to talk to a manager, he just said, "I can reinstate the original reservation for you". He said it would be at 10% off today's pricing, but that was only $162 more than the original fare for a Cat 6. But now we wanted to go down from the Cat 6 to a Cat 9. HE STILL GAVE US THE 10% OFF AND THE $200 ON BOARD CREDIT.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DID THIS. :bounce:

Boy the pixie dust if falling on our house today. To bad I couldn't use it to get my Palo reservation for October. 90 Days out today and no availability. :confused3

Well, that is great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc THis is what makes Disney, Disney.......

I would not worry about Palo, if you get there early enough (boarding) you will more than likely be able to book, as they do hold back for those who have no access to the internet..

:goodvibes

What a great story! I love the way Disney treats their guests, which is the main reason my normally cruise-hating DH agreed to rebook after our first DC. Congratulations and enjoy your cruises! :sunny:

It's interesting that talking to different CMs gets different results, though. If you call three times with the same question, you can get three different answers. DCL should let all their CMs go on a cruise every year or so in order to really know the product they are selling.

This isn't really surprising and it isn't just Disney. I'm a travel agent and we always work with the motto if you didn't like the answer, call back and talk to someone else. And if it is a really important question, call until you get the same answer twice, that's most likely the correct one (not always though).

Fantastic news!!! :) Palo will work out. Just go there when you board & get one of the resies that were held back.

Great news - that is what I love about Disney. As far as Palo goes, I read yesterday (doesn't mean it was posted yesterday, I just got around to reading it) that the on line system for Palo reservations has been having some glitches and showing no availability when there is seating there. I suggest you continue to try throught he website and if nothing opens up, go once you board.

That is great news. Congrats. That $200 can be very helpful especially when some members of the family get a little out of hand with the KTTW :rotfl:

The pixie dust did keep falling on our house today. :wizard:

Just got back and was checking my emails. I sent one to DCL through the "contact us" link on their website and explained how I couldn't believe that nothing was available. Even when I tried at 12:01 a.m.

Well, I got an email back stating, "we're happy to confirm you Palo reservation for two on.....". :cool1:

I checked our reservation online and sure enough, there it is.

You gotta love Disney.
