We were on the 1/22 Eastern this year and rebooked for the 1/21/06 Eastern while on board. When we got back and added up how much we spent for the cruise and all the extras (DW went a little overboard. No pun intended), we both said it was nice, but not worth all the $$ we spent for 1 week.
So, thinking that we'd go on a week long trip instead to Mexico or the Caribbean through Apple Vacations, we cancelled our reservation.
Well now we are looking at the January vacations and they aren't coming up that cheap. We said to each other we could go on DCL again, though with a lower category room, for what we would be paying.
We felt bad that we cancelled the reservation we booked on board because we lost the 10% off and $200 room credit.
Well, we are currently booked and paid for the 10/27/05 3-night Wonder. I thought I'd call DCL and ask, since we had the reservation, but cancelled it, and will be sailing again before January and would have the opportunity to book on board again, if they could do something now for us with the old reservation.
The CM I talked to wanted to help, but had to talk to her manager. Her manager told her they couldn't do anything and that the on board booking bonuses are only available on board with the reservation manager on the boat. I asked the CM if I could talk to her manager, just to see if I could somehow convince her to make an exception. We got cut off in the transfer.
Well, I decided to call back. This time getting a different CM. I told him the whole story over again. He didn't even need to talk to a manager, he just said, "I can reinstate the original reservation for you". He said it would be at 10% off today's pricing, but that was only $162 more than the original fare for a Cat 6. But now we wanted to go down from the Cat 6 to a Cat 9. HE STILL GAVE US THE 10% OFF AND THE $200 ON BOARD CREDIT.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DID THIS.
Boy the pixie dust if falling on our house today. To bad I couldn't use it to get my Palo reservation for October. 90 Days out today and no availability.
