We recently switched from our cable company ( a MAJOR company that serves the Asheville NC area) to the new ATT U-Verse system for our Cable and Internet. We have been SO pleased with the switch!!! It is less expensive, the picture is great, excellent channel selection and better customer service.

Yesterday I arrive home from work and our system is down. I called ATT and got a very helpful technician who tried everything he knew how to do but was unable to remedy the situation. I am thinking to myself.....SO not good for ATT this early in our contract with them. How wrong I was!!

They were able to get a technicial out first thing this morning and here is what they found.......

It seems that the old Cable company not only switched the connection from the ATT connection back to their box, but also cut some key cables going not only to my unit but to others in our condo complex.

The technician stated that he has been out to our location several days in a row fixing this same problem for other people!!!! I simply cannot believe that a company would stoop so low as to sabotage people's service like that.

I am now fearful that I will get home from work again today to find that the same thing has happened. The tech said that ATT is getting ready to go after the Cable company for this and suggested that if it happens again that we call the Cable company and say that we are getting the police involved and then call the police!!!

This is just awful.......

Wow. That's crazy. I wonder who's dispatching technicians to go out and destruct. Actually, it pisses me off because (I'm assuming it's Time-Warner/Comcast... haaaaaaaaate) I can't get a technician out to my house to fix their stupid problems for two weeks or more. Apparently they're busy with other chores. Ugh. I hate them.:headache:

It is not Time Warner/Coomcast....it is another equally large and difficult to deal with company that will NEVER again get my business.

The two competing TV/cable/Internet companies here have been known to cut eachother's cables that run into the house, when they come to hook up service. If I remember correctly, recently one of the companies was going ahead with a lawsuit against the other because of it.

It wouldn't rhyme with barter would it. If so I feel for ya. It was great to get those morons service out of my house as well.

I had a similar thing happen with our telephone service when I switched from "the big guy" to one of the discount carriers. Twice in about 3 months we had a situation where we could receive calls, but couldn't make them. I called (from my cell) to see if there was something wrong with the account but everything was fine, no reason service should have been disrupted. Technician came out and found the connections in the box were loose. Firstime, maybe an accident. Second time, you either have awfully clumsy technicians or somebody is wiggling the connections on purpose.

two ideas...

if your building is private it might have a contract with a certain provider

or possibly in your terms of use for the old provider there could be a clause that you are not allowed to use the cables they installed for a different provider. Now if they cut another companies wires then that si not right.

It could perhaps rhyme with "barter", but I was thinking more along the lines of it rhyming with "farter" LOLOL.

I HATED farter!

It went from farter to Suddenlink here a few years back and it's been alright. No love but no hate either.

I am no fan of farter.

I have a lovely cable box in my backyard. Took 2 years and a call to the county for them to bury cable line. I am not a farter customer so they couldn't help me.

We had MAJOR issues with farter a few years ago but we went to satellite since there were no other cable companies in the area. It doesn't surprise me that they did that given the issues we had with them. We still get door to door people trying to get us to switch but I launch into my tyraid about farter and they move along :lmao: I wouldn't hesitate to call the police if it happens again.

You might want to keep an eye on your credit card charges, if that was what you used to use to pay your bills with the old company. They may start charging you again for the "switched" service.

AOL was notorious for doing that. Bally's Fitness centers still do that.

I live under a monopoly where one starting with a c and ending with omcast is our ONLY provider. and i hate them with a passion. a friend of mine got a 600.00 bill instead of a 50.00 bill, TWICE. and they tried to argue with her that no, she owes them 600.00 a month. :headache:

Since I am a SAHM I get to be the person who sits around all day waiting for 'farter' cable to show up and install or fix things for all my relatives. They missed 2 appts at my MIL's house (2 Saturdays in a row, tech lied and said we weren't there one week), then they screwed up an appt at my Mom's house and I wasted an afternoon there. After the 3rd time I went off the deep-end, I drove to their local office, dragging a sleeping baby with me and left with a big credit on my Mom's account for all my wasted time (too bad I couldn't get it on my account-lol).

Their selection of chanels stinks (no PBS sprout, finally just got TBS in HD for post season baseball) and other chanels are constantly moving to higher tiers that cost extra.

If I had a dollar for every time the cable company who shall not be named canceled an appointment when I was actually home waiting for them I would be a wealthy woman.

This company has a "pre call" program, where they call before they come out. There were many times when the call came through as an "Unknown ID" which my phone will not let me answer. I cannot call back. I would call the company and say that I am home, and they would tell me that I missed the call and my appointment was automatically canceled. ARRGHH!!!!!!!

I finally convinced them that if I have an appointment I WILL be home. Unbelievably there were still a few times when they didn't show up.

OT, but I don't think I could live with a phone that controlled which calls I could answer. Sounds too 2001, A Space Odyssey-ish.

:lmao: I wouldn't mind it if it didn't let me know it was rejecting the calls. Ring! You have a call. Sorry, not letting you answer this one. :p

We had farter and they do stink! DH and I had an addition built onto the house and needed cable run. The installer shows up and says it's complicated, he'd come back the next day. 1 week later he shows up with a roll of cable. Then he tells my husband it's not that hard and he should do it himself!!!
I called the satellite company and the guy came out the next day, so now we're satellite customers.
