I can do this...Karyn's journal to lose 20!

sounds like you got right back on track this morning..good for you! Did you find anythign great garage saleing?

Good job at finding something that helps with the sweet tooth. I have to tell you, today we were in Meijer and in the cake and brownie isle and I turned and saw chocolate chips. I said, oh maybe I can have some of those when I have a choco fit. Looked at the bag and said - gotta get outta this isle - NOW!!!! DD and DH thought I was nuts.

Keep on

I know that I keep saying that it's time to get serious and then I go back to my same old habits. I needed some motivation. Well, I got that motivation today. I changed clothes for church MANY times before I found something that fit. It's ridiculous to have a closet full of clothes and NOTHING to wear. So...I went to WalMart and got some Slim-Fast. I have done really well with that in the past, so I thought I'd try it again. I did very well eating today, I I'll do better tomorrow. DH leaves for Kansas next Sunday to be gone for 2 weeks. I want to lose some while he is gone.

Breakfast-none

Lunch-made Chicken Helper Fried Rice and fresh (frozen) corn-ate 1 cup of rice and 1 cup of corn...also had 1 biscuit

Snack-pudding and banana

Dinner-some leftover rice and some leftover tuna casserole

AND THAT'S ALL!!!!!!!

I did very well today, but I didn't exercise. I did move around a lot of books and put together a bookcase. It's better than nothing!!

Hi Karyn - Sounds like you are hanging in there. Have you considered upping your intake of fresh veggies? They really fill you up plus they are so good for you! Another filling thing is oatmeal (regular oatmeal, not the sugar-loaded flavored kind) for breakfast. Maybe if you had a small bowl of oatmeal and a yogurt for breakfast you would not be so starving a couple hours later? Just some suggestions that might help. I know I hate being hungry all the time, I think I have finally figured out the right combination of foods to eliminate that problem.

Keep up the good work - remember to drink lots of water and get your exercise in!

Day 1 on Slim-Fast went pretty good.

Breakfast-Slim-Fast

Lunch-Slim-Fast

Snack-piece of pizza and a few spoonfuls of Hungry Jack mashed potatoes

Dinner-4 oz of chicken with Shake N Bake, 1/2 cup of rice and 1 can of green beans

Snack-banana with fat free vanilla pudding and some fat free Cool Whip

as far as I can figure I ate 24 pts

got on the stepper for 30 min at fast rate and walked back and forth in living room for 30 min while watching TV...couldn't get out today, so I walked in the living room! I got my heart rate up and that's all that matters!!

Way to go on getting that exercise in!!! At least you got your heart moving!

Hope you are having a great day!

Keep up the good work! :maleficen

So far, so good today. I got on the scale this morning and didn't like what I saw, so I have vowed to stay off of it for a few days.

Breakfast-slim fast and 1 cup of Apple Jacks with 1/2 cup of skim milk

Lunch-PB&J with a few potato chips

I have turkey smoked sausage planned for dinner with yellow rice. Haven't had any snacks today, so that's good, but I haven't exercised. We have a front moving through Iowa, and I have had a terrific headache that I can't seem to get rid of. It's amazing how weather affects your moods.

Hang in there Karyn - you did good making up some exercises to do when you couldn't get outside that was good!!!!! I do have to agree that you need to try and up your veggie and/or fruit intake if possible. That may help you some. And make sure you drink your water. But only you know what will work and you need to do what you think will help you - sounds like getting back on the Slim Fast might be the right thing for you. Just make sure that once you go off you are able to actually go off and eat regular meals - that's one reason why I won't do Slim Fast or anything like that - I'm afraid I won't be able to control my food after I go off.

You can do it!!!!!

Keep on

Okay, you guys have convinced me that I do need to eat more vegetables. I really don't like most of them, but I can tolerate green beans and corn. I am going to the grocery store when DH gets home from work and I am going to get salad fixings and some vegetables. I'll look to see what looks good. I have some baby carrots, so I need some dip for them. I really like the Light Done Right cheesey ranch dressing. Need to get some of that.

Okay, now to recap...

Breakfast-Slim Fast and Apple Jacks (6 pts)

Lunch-PB&J sandwich (5pts) and few chips (3 pts)

Dinner-Healthy Choice turkey smoked sausage (yum, yum, and DOUBLE YUM!!!) and yellow rice (2 pts for sausage and 5 pts for rice)

TOTAL...21 pts

Much better than yesterday. I figured high for the chips because I didn't measure them. I had a small handful of crumbs...that's the best part!! Could have saved 3 pts if I had eaten carrots instead of the chips. I need to work on that.

Yes, I think veggies are an acquired taste, but you will learn to love them! I really like steamed broccoli and cauliflower. I sprinkle Butter Buds on them instead of using regular butter or margarine. Just find ways to incorporate veggies into your regular dishes. Like put corn, peas or chopped up peppers in your rice. Some veggies taste completely different cooked than raw (like carrots). Since you like peanut butter, why not try spreading some in a stalk of celery with some raisins on it? Or celery with fat free cream cheese is also good (geez, I'm getting hungry, I better stop talking about food!). I bet it is hard since you don't really like vegetables, but they really do fill you up! And getting your kids to eat them while they are young is pointing them in the right direction ;) Just some more tips I think you might find helpful. If I am being too forward or you want me to shut my mouth, I will not take offense, just let me know! :goodvibes

lovinaz-I appreciate the tips!! I went to the grocery store after I read your entry and stocked up on veggies!! Most of my problems would be solved if I liked celery and tomatoes and bell peppers!! Anyhoo, I think I did pretty good with shopping. I love okra, so I got the cut okra to bake in the oven. I really like broccoli if it's cooked right, so I got some baby broccoli tops. I like to cook it and put a piece of 2% cheese on top. Can't wait to eat that tomorrow!! I got some baby spinich and iceburg lettuce (the green leaf and romaine looked AWFUL tonight) for salads. Also got the Light Done Right Three Cheese Ranch. Got more bananas and some fat free caramel dip for apples. (I figure that if I need the apple, caramel makes it go down so much easier!!) Got more green beans and found some new Sara Lee bread the is whole grain WHITE bread!! It has 3 grams of fiber in 2 pieces. Looks and tastes just like regular white bread, but has the whole grains. FINALLY!!!

Good job Karyn - I'm like you. I'm not much of a veggie lover. Don't do broccoli, cauliflower, cooked carrots but will eat them raw, don't like cooked tomatoes but will eat them raw. I like my baby carrots/raw carrots, raw celery but only if with some type of dip or in something like tuna salad, raw tomatoes (grape, cherry, and regular), and corn. That's about it for me. But I have to watch how much corn I eat because of the carbs in it. Oh I love potatoes too but again, gotta watch how much I eat because of the carbs. UGH - why do all the bad things taste so good???!!!!!

Good job on the groceries though!

Keep on

You did great at the store! Salads are wonderful as long as you find a dressing you like, which it looks like you have. You have plenty of veggie choices now!! I don't think there is anything wrong with a little caramel dip for your apples every once in a while. :)

I've heard of people making mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. Have you heard of that? I've never tried it, I wonder if it is any good...

Have a great day!

Doing pretty good today.

Breakfast-Slim Fast shake (4 pts)...has lots of fiber and it keeps me from snacking all morning! Working so far!!!

lunch- HUGE salad with spinich and iceburg lettuce
dressing (3 pts)
croutons (2 pts)
2% shredded cheese(2 pts)
bacon bits (1 pt)

I have thin turkey cutlets for dinner with okra and green beans...I'll make rice for DH, but I'm going to try to stick with vegetables so that I can have a snack before bed.

Thanks for your note! LOL! I know I am obsessed with organization! Thank you for your kind words! It has brightened my day!

Lisa

I am so not a veggie person either. I avoid them at all costs!!!!! I am trying though. Not very good, but I am trying.

Good job on the grocery. You did great.

I like that you are planning ahead for dinner with the no rice. That is great.

You are doing super!

Have a great day! :maleficen

Okay, today was pretty great, if I say so myself. Had one moment of weakness, but nothing I can't handle and I didn't go overboard and eat something that I would regret.

Breakfast-shake

Lunch-salad

Dinner-2 oz of thin sliced turkey and okra

Snack-pineapple and cream cheese sandwich...made with 1/3 less fat cream cheese...the fat free is too gummy for me!

Did pretty good overall. Having trouble drinking water. I just drink as much as I can during the day.

I weighed on Monday and was 135. I was going to wait until next Monday to weigh again, but I broke and got on the scale this morning. 133.4!!! Down 1.6 pounds in 4 days!! :cool1: What great motivation for the weekend!! *pats self on back*

Good for you Karyn!! I think you are smart to not weigh in everyday.

I had to get rid of my scale and now I just weigh in at my WW meetings because if I went up even a little it would send me into a tailspin.

I'm drinking a toast to your big loss this week! Keep it up. :drinking:
