I can do this...Karyn's journal to lose 20!

You have the right mindset!!!! Keep remembering that.

And walking up and down the hallway when you can't get out is a good idea. Add some stairs to that too to get some endurance and some good breath!!!!

Keep on

I did better this morning for breakfast. I need to make up for the last few days, so I am on a mission to eat right today! I did drink 64 oz of water yesterday, but I ate a small bowl of cereal last night at 9:30 and went WAY over my points for the day. Today is a new day, and I'm going to start over...again.

Breakfast-grits and 2 pcs of turkey sausage

I have moved the stepper into the living room so that I can keep an eye on the kids as I exercise. Hope to make it to the Y this afternoon. It's finally raining and cooling down, so I have a little more energy.

Good outlook at starting over - good for you!!!! Hope you are able to make it to the Y and good idea of putting the stepper in a place where you can use it and keep an eye on things. We are starting to cool down some here too, suppose to get some more rain today!!!!

Keep on

Don't get discouraged! It takes time to build new habits, just keep it up regardless of the setbacks. You can do it!

Just getting caught up on your journal...way to go on the weight loss. That is awesome! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Like lovinaz said it takes time to change old habits, don't get discouraged. If you fall, just get up the next day and start over. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Keep up the good work!!!

I'm writing right now because I'm hungry and I really want something to eat. I can't wait for payday on Monday to buy some healthy food!! Moving is very difficult in itself, but getting caught up on paychecks is even harder! It's good, though, because I can start fresh with healthy food and not even buy the junk food. Any ideas on new stuff to eat???

Breakfast-grits and turkey sausage

Lunch-6 silver dollar (well, maybe a little bigger than silver dollar...but definately smaller than regular) pancakes and enough syrup to taste. Not even 1/4 cup.

Dinner-made pizza with packaged dough and cheese-ate 2 pieces

I want a snack right now, but I just ate 3 hours ago. I'm trying to do something to keep busy until the craving passes. Drank 24 oz of water today. It was cooler than normal and I wasn't thirsty, so it was hard to get down. I have some powdered Crystal Light in the cabinet, so I'll mix that up and drink it tomorrow for something a little different. I'll go do that right now.

Karyn - try to drink some more water when your tummy starts to growl and you get hungry. That has helped me. I do try to wait 3 hours between eatings and sometimes I almost can't wait - that will do it a little bit.

I hate the just before paycheck time too. I'm like that this pay period. I have $40 left and I'm running out of food and I really don't want to go shopping on $40 because I know I'll spend more than that. One thing I've really been stocking up on is celery and baby carrots and a lighter fat dip (that I make with light sour cream and Hidden Valley Ranch powder dressing mix). That is something that does tide me over nicely. Another thing I've been grasping onto for snacks is those Nabisco 100 calorie snacks.

But if you need a quick fix have some marshmallows (they tend to do the job for me, just a couple). Or how about some saltines. Or a teaspoon of peanut butter. Or an apple with some peanut butter.

Just a few ideas and trying to think of things my friend has said she eats when she gets hungry - things with some protein in them.

Hi Karyn - When you go shopping be sure to stock up on the healthy things, like apples, bananas, grapes, carrots and celery. It is prime fruit season, I go nuts on fresh fruit this time of year (blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe). I try to wash and cut up everything the day I buy it so it is ready and waiting in a tupperware for me to snack on. I store the carrots & celery in a tupperware with water, they stay fresh forever that way and I can grab a couple sticks whenever I need something to munch on!

Another great healthy snack is yogurt. There are tons of different flavors. I used to HATE yogurt, and I still don't care for any kind with fruit "floaties" in it, but I have grown to really enjoy it. Have you seen GoGurt? I put those in the freezer for a frozen treat (my kids love them too!) I have been eating a cup of yogurt with lowfat granola (Kashi GoLean) in it for breakfast and I am not hungry until lunchtime. Pretzels are always better than chips, there are many different flavors of rice cakes also (I love the white cheddar and caramel varieties).

I hope this helps! Keep it up and keep yourself busy - it'll help keep your mind off snacking!

Hi!!!

I usually eat every 3 hours, just a little something here and there. Not anything real big and that seems to work well for me.

I too am running out of food. I need to get to the grocery store and get some good food. I like the idea of keeping carrots cut up and in some water. Thanks Amy! Sorry didn't mean to get sidetracked.

Keep up the good work, you will see a loss soon

Have a great day!

I'm making a list of all of these wonderful healthy foods! Thanks so much for the ideas!

Today has been pretty normal so far.

Breakfast-I made biscuits from a packaged mix and ate 2 with a little light syrup-no butter!

Lunch-PB&J sandwich and some Lay's Sour Cream and Onion chips

No plans right now for dinner. I am going to the Y to walk when DH gets home from work. Hopefully I can get in a couple of miles this afternoon. That always perks me up for the evening and gets my mind set back on losing weight.

Just got back from the grocery store and I think I made some pretty healthy choices. I took the advice that you guys gave and got:

yogurt
fat-free pudding and fat free Cool Whip
turkey smoked sausage (instead of regular with 17 :earseek: grams of fat)
mini carrots
bananas (great mixed with yogurt)
apples
strawberries
very thin pork chops
skinless chicken
98% fat free popcorn (yep, gotta have the popcorn, Chris!!!)

I'll look back on this journal entry and use it as a grocery list, I'm sure!!

Ate 2 pieces of leftover pizza for dinner about 3 hours ago. I think I'll get some fruit salad and yogurt for a snack.

:cool1: :cool1: I'm such a bad influence I know!!!!! ROFL

Okay - you did great grocery shopping - BRAVO!!!!!! You got some great healthy choices. One thing I'm adding to my grocery list this week is FF pudding too - I've been hungry for it and I really like the Hunt's FF puddings - Tapioca is my fav - it's just sweet enough to hit that sweet craving.

Keep up the good work Karyn - you can do it!!!!

Keep on
Chris

I feel so much more focused now that I have some healthy choices to eat! Got on the scale this morning and I'm down .8 from yesterday. Back up to 133.8, but I was at 135 just 2 days ago. Got to get under control!!! I have planned my meals for today, and I'm going to stick with it.

Breakfast-ate a bowl of Apple Jacks and skim milk-probably had 2 servings of cereal, but it was sooooo good!

Lunch-I am going to have a PB&J sandwich made with reduced fat peanut butter (need some protein) and mini carrots instead of chips. I bought chips yesterday, but I got the ones that the kids love and I don't really like. That way I'm not tempted with a bag of Doritos!! Won't be doing that again!

Dinner-I bought some really thin boneless pork chops and I'm going to make pork and rice with beef broth and Lipton onion soup. It's delicious and not very high in fat because the only fat that you use is a little butter.

I have fat free pudding and 98% fat free popcorn for snacks. One thing that I forgot to get yesterday was spray butter for popcorn. I need to go back today and get that.

Hi Karyn - You did AWESOME at the grocery store! :cheer2: I'm glad my suggestions were useful to you. Another snack I thought of is string cheese. I love that stuff!

I hear ya on buying chips for the kids that you don't like - my son loves those Flamin' Hot Cheetos and Funyuns (isn't that weird for a 9 yo?) and I think they are gross. My daughter however loves Cheetos Puffs (which I :lovestruc ) so I have resorted to sniffing the bag and not even eating one since I know I won't be able to stop there.

Keep up the great work and get those workouts in! You have enough healthy snacks around that you should have no problems! If you need anymore ideas, let me know, I am the snack queen!!! ;)

Good job on the loss - that is great that you are finally seeing and downward twirl to that scale!!!!

Good job on the choices for the foods - how is the reduced fat peanut butter and what kind did you get? I like to have it once in a while on my toast but I don't really like all that fat.

Keep on
Chris

I get the Jif Reduced Fat. It has 12g of fat compared to 16g for regular. Not a huge difference, but my kids eat a LOT of peanut butter and every little bit helps!! It's a little stiffer than regular, but no difference in the taste to me. My DS is autistic and will only eat certain brands of foods. He never realized that I changed to the reduced fat. If HE can't tell a difference, I know that you won't!!!!!

I don't know if having lots of healthy food in the house is better or worse!! It's so tempting!! I did okay today, though. Went a little overboard at dinner, but that was the only time.

Breakfast-Apple Jacks and skim milk

Lunch-PB&J sandwich and baby carrots (probably about 7 carrots)

Snack-half of a bowl of Apple Jacks...I think I'm addicted, but at least they are low in fat! I could be eating cookies!!

Dinner-pork and rice...cut each chop into 7 pieces...probably had 2 chops total and 1 1/2 cups of rice with beef broth and onion soup...really wanted seconds, but DID NOT GO BACK!!!!!!! Very proud of myself. I started thinking about what I would write in my journal tonight, and I did not want to have to admit to everyone (and myself) that I overate.

Snack-ate 3 Tyson chicken tenders that DD was eating-they were sooooo good

I think that I did pretty good today. Had to go to WalMart for school supplies, so I didn't get to the Y, but I did park way out in the parking lot and walked around the store a few times. I am starting to feel better (gotta love TOM!) and I'm hoping to make it tomorrow and Saturday morning. I do much better exercising in the morning. I can't wait for school to start so that I can make it a priority!!!

I am a walking, talking, eating machine today. Can't seem to get satisfied. It is only 11:30 and I've already had 2 meals and a snack.

Breakfast (8:00 SM)-Apple Jacks and skim milk...at what point does it change from a "healthy habit" to an addiction???

Snack (10:00)-banana with fat free vanilla pudding and fat free Cool Whip...loving the fat free pudding...need to buy more bananas!!!

Lunch (11:30)-about 1 1/2 cups of leftover pork and rice with 7 (yes, 7 :sad2: ) Tyson chicken tenders (the small ones-they are smaller than the ones from Burger King...they are 1 pt each according to the box)

I am going to consider that my big meal for the day. Not going to cook a large dinner. Probably just eat popcorn or fruit and yogurt. I have got to get back to the Y tonight. Going yard sale hopping in the morning, so I can go early tomorrow.

Okay Karyn - step away from the Tyson's and no one will get hurt!!!! Hand it over here, I'll eat it (NO I WON'T!!!!!) :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen

Okay - sounds like besides the Tyson chicken tenders, unless you can really afford to eating them you are really doing well. If you have the points to eat them, then don't worry about it as much!!!! I hate to tell you but I think the addiction has hit!!!!! ROFL

Keep on
Chris

I did not post last night because it was REALLY ugly. :scared1: :scared: I won't even go into the details of what I ate. Let's just say that I learned my lesson because I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night. Got on the scale this morning and I was only up .4 pounds. Must not have been nearly as bad as what I expected!!

This morning started out much better. I went yard sale hopping this morning and didn't eat breakfast before I left. Got home about 10:00 and whipped up a tuna casserole. Made with boxed mac and cheese (used skim milk and light butter), tuna, cream of celery soup (99% fat free) and peas. Ate some of that and didn't go overboard. I have a "something sweet" problem, too, but fat free vanilla pudding and a banana cures that really quickly. I put fat free Cool Whip on top, and you have banana pudding with NO FAT!!! Just sent DH to Walmart for more bananas and pudding.
