I Can Do Disney All By Myself...anyone else?

so there are single rider lines? I knew there were at Universal, but couldn't for the life of me remember if there were at Disney. Yay!!!

Lori P. :)

I think the only official single rider lines at WDW are Test Track, Rock N Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest. But as a pp mentioned, at some other rides they will ask for parties of 1 or 2 to fill seats.

I did my first solo trip (first solo vacation anywhere) in 2012. It was a big adventure for me, and I was a little nervous going into it, but I had so much fun I did it again this year (and am oh so close to booking another one for next year). I've had great experiences doing TS meals solo, so don't be shy about making ADRs if there are restaurants you want to try. I also did Photopass so I could get pics with some characters, which was fun.

I am going on my second solo trip to "The world" on Sept 6-15, with a couple days at Universal and Seaworld.

I will be staying at the POP Century.

Does anyone else ever feel weird going on certain rides by yourself? Just wondering? I may go on a tour or too as well this time. Really looking forward to doing everything that I want to do.

I have yet to feel weird going on any ride by myself - and I rode Dumbo and Barnstormer solo this year! And I love Winnie the Pooh and Small World (yes, I said Small World). Now admittedly I've never done Triceratops Spin or Magic Carpets; those might feel a little weird.

For solo riders, I've been pulled up at Tower of Terror and Soarin' (bypassed one "trip" including load time basically). I waited in the normal line at Expedition Everest because I didn't see the single line. I liked it because I hadn't seen the"stories" and pictures before since I always rode with a fast pass. I ended up in the single line two more times, and got on right away both time.

I'm doing my 1st Solo trip Nov 13-21 at the Pop century and I can not wait. 8 days to do whatever I want...lol

I have been solo to Disney 3 or 4 times for a week each time.

I love it!
I can go where I want, when I want, see as many characters as I want...etc
No worries about my 17 yr old teen whining when his feet hurt, or whining about taking so many pictures. LOL

I can go all day everyday till I drop and be carefree.
I have met alot of nice ppl.
I always do the Deluxe dining plan and have had so many awesome meals too.

Disney is my Happy Place, and I don't mind going alone....cause you aren't really alone at Disney!

I've gone solo a few times and really love it!! I also love being able to where I want, when I want and the way I want.. If I want a churro for dinner.. I'm gonna have a churro.. :-) I think the freedom is the best part!

A few years back I took some friends to Disney because i didn't want to go alone. While there I ended up buying into DVC and have been back every year since. I went one year by myself and loved the freedom that others described. BTW Disney is wasted on kids. Unfortunately, it seems someone is always wanting to come along when they hear I going down, but I am looking forward to a Sept solo trip, just a few shot weeks!

Really? It's a single seat though so you're alone either way. lol You mean the other two seats in your vehicle were empty? If you sat in the front seat, you wouldn't notice. :)

I think I'd feel weird going solo on rides and being seated next to strangers, but I'd get over it. :)

I would never go on Dinosaur alone though and be the only person in the vehicle. Way too scary!!

I have done WDW twice solo. Loved it. Relaxed, took bubble baths in my room chose what I wanted to do and when. I was amidst gracious conversationalist when I took "bench breaks" in the park.
Love going with my grandchildren, and love going Solo.
Just love WDW!

I have been solo twice and am heading there again solo in about two months!

I love the freedom I have, and how I can shop and shop without anyone sighing or pulling me along. I also love re-riding as many times as I want, or striking up a conversation with others in line, or people watching, or taking naps when I want to, or... well, everything about it, really! I love hearing them call "single rider?" and shooting my hand up, I love grabbing an ice cream for lunch, and I love lounging and watching families having fun - then texting crazy pictures to my family and friends back home.

I have two of my solo trips in my signature - one was totally solo and the other one I stayed for a couple of days after my mom left from our mother/daughter trip.

Seriously think I'm going to be going to Disney week after next ALL BY MYSELF. I have never done this before, but walking around Epcot and looking at my own pace without being asked to buy things or referee arguments between my four sons has always sounded appealing to me. I think that eating where I want to without worrying if they have chicken fingers will be wonderful, lol.

I am a teacher and only have about 2 1/2 weeks until going back, plus I am now starting a year long masters degree program, so I'm thinking a solo trip will be a great way to kick off a VERY busy year.

My question is has anyone else visited The Mouse alone? Any tips? Did you regret your trip? Thanks in advance for any input.

Lori P. :)

Do it, it is everything you hope for and more. I did my first one in Feb 2009 and about to head off for my 6th time in November, I was so scared I wouldn't enjoy myself as much, I was wrong, to do what I wanted, when I wanted and how I wanted was heaven. I come all the way from the UK as well.

The first year EPCOT was open I got an annual pass and went 13 times, some of those were tour guide for family members. Most of the time I was by myself.

I am planning a sort of solo trip for Feb. DH is coming along, but he will be in conference most of the day and I will be in the parks by myself. We are leaving our 3 kids at home, so this will be a new experience for us. I am nervous but looking forward at the same time. My kids do not like the shows, so I plan on seeing them all in each park. Epcot especially is appealing to me. We are also staying at Pop for the first time, so that is another adventure.

I'm so glad that I found this thread.
I'm heading to the CR for a week in Feb with my husband and he'll be busy most of the time with a conference.
Usually my son and extended family come along but they can't come this year. Bummer, but now I can see that it's a great place to spend some solo time.
I'm starting to see all the benefits of going at my own pace, eating at restaurants no one wanted to try etc.
I think I'll do a spa day and take a tour!
I'm actually looking forward to my solo(ish) trip now.
Thanks everybody

I also think the journal idea is an excellent one. I've kept travel journals for many years, and those (plus the photos I take) are THE BEST souvenirs! Especially good as a reference when multiple trips start to run together in your memory. When I'm solo I like to do my writing during my meals (between courses, of course) or when relaxing by the pool.

Totally agree!! Journaling is my favorite part of traveling solo to WDW. I never do it when I am surrounded by family or friends (not in a bad way, just that I always feel distracted when I'm in a room with someone else, and am very much an introvert at heart). But capturing the magic of my Disney experience in written form, while it's happening, is one of the best souvenirs I can think of!

I also love journaling so much that I upgraded from Poly (which was already a huge upgrade for me) to Grand Floridian just because the standard rooms there all have balconies--my favorite place for writing!!
