I burnt my popcorn

I bought the mini bags so I could be good as I embark on my upcoming diet. I used the popcorn setting on my microwave but it burnt it even though the 'listening to the pop sound' was fine.
I am now forced to eat Doritos.

How long should I cook it for? The bag did not say.

On my microwave, if you hit the "popcorn" button more than once, it cycles through bag sizes. Pick the smallest size, and then listen for the pops to slow down.

Yuck, nothing worse than burnt popcorn smell.

I put the mini bags in for about a minute. I don't know how strong your microwave is, though.

Did you make sure to follow the bag directions where it said, "THIS SIDE DOWN"? It sounds like there wasn't enough liquid or the bag was old & the kernels were to dry and some burnt instead of popped, if the popping sound was okay.

Try pressing your popcorn button more than once, like Barb said. But if that doesn't work, the small bag setting on mine goes for 1 minute 20 seconds.

use a lower power setting (if available)
you need to heat the butter/oil enough to melt it, then keep it at a certain temp without burning it up before all the popcorn pops.

So which kind did you get anyhow? I got some of the mini bags of garlic popcorn (Orville R?) and they smelled wonderful but didn't have enough garlic flavor. A little shake of granulated garlic and they were great. Yum.

So I have 3 popcorn settings on my microwave. Learn something new every day! I'll have to test it tomorrow.
