DD9 had a routine eye appointment yesterday and the optometrist found something concerning. She has irregular disc margins and fine perimacular exudates.

I have googled. I am petrified. These problems tend to be the result of something systemic and possibly sinister. She will be referred to a pediatric opthalmologist and I am guessing will have to undergo some scary testing.

I am trying to keep from getting too upset until I know there is something to be upset about, but my imagination is running wild. I will be calling the doctor early Monday morning so she can be seen as soon as possible.

DD's 10th birthday is Wednesday. She is a sweet little girl. Please keep her in your thoughts.

While Google can be helpful, sometimes it can also cause more stress. I had an issue at my last eye appointment where the doctor thought she saw something that could be problematic. Of course it was a Friday so she told me what she "thought" it was and they made an appointment for me for the following Monday. I went home and right away starting looking on the internet. Bad idea. I was stressed out, crying and a mess all weekend. Luckily the second doctor did more tests and everything was okay.

I know it's hard not to look, but for your own sanity and peace of mind, try to limit the searching.

Hope everything goes okay for your daughter

I will surely keep her in my thoughts and prayers..

Meanwhile, do yourself a favor and stay off the internet.. When you know something definite, that's the time to look for additional info..:goodvibes

I don't know what you found, but I agree you should try to stay off the internet until you've got concrete information from the specialist.

Will keep your DD in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry. I have a 9 year old DD and a 10 year old DD so I can only imagine the terror you're going through. I agree with the others that you should probably not google anymore. The internet is filled with horror stories and worse-case scenarios. There are probably thousands of good-news stories that just aren't posted on line.

I will keep your little girl in my prayers. Please keep us posted.
{{hugs}} I hope you can find some peace. God bless you.

I'm so so sorry for your stress.

I am going through the same thing this weekend, but for myself. Googling is such a bad thing to do! Definitely causes more harm than good (atleast that is what I keep telling myself). I will hope for good news for both of us this coming week.:hug::hug:

:grouphug: to you and your DD!

I'll keep you both in my thoughts and hope that a second opinion finds nothing to worry about.

First of all, don't believe everything you read on the Internet.

I will be praying for your DD.

A wise woman once told me "Don't bleed until you get shot".

She'll be in my prayers, Denae. Try not to worry. The internet can be terrifying.

I will keep your DD and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the doctor has answers (best case scenario) soon.
