I am so mad! Is there anything I can do?

I am so mad I could scream! I have been looking over these boards since we started planning our very first family vacation. I have never posted but noticed a lot of good advise. I thought maybe I could get some ideas. I am so heartbroken and distraught I have no idea what to do. I did something really stupid and now I don't know how to tell my family what I have done. We planned to take our kids to DW next week and had everything from hotel to our "to do list" ready to go. Were on a really tight budget so I thought I could save a few dollars and bought some DW tickets from an auction site. It was a good deal and at this price we were getting two days for what we would have paid for one day at DW. I checked feedback and looked good so I trusted him. Unfortunately, it was a fraud. After two weeks no tickets and no contact. I have sent emails phoned seller and it is invalid number and filed with every fraud dept. I can't afford to buy more tickets and we spent out every one of our resources just to take this vacation. I can't bear to tell my family what I have done. My kids are so excited and I know this will break their hearts. If I tell my Husband we are sure to have to cancel our trip. Has anybody had this happen? Is there anything left I can do? I am desperate for ideas before I have a total breakdown. Thanks guys in advance

Welcome! I am sorry for the problem, but have no solutions. I don't know why someone would be rude about your situation, but not everyone is like that! I hope you figure things out.

I'm sorry that but I don't have any advice.... just some hugs

I hope everything works out.

Assuming the situation really happened and you are in serious need of assistance, I have a question - did you pay by credit card? If you did, you're in luck. You can contact your credit card company and report the fraud. They will investigate (contact the seller, etc.) and if what you say is true, you will be credited the amount you paid. Though it takes a while, at least you would get your money back.

I don't mean to sound rude, but if you would have posted and asked for advice, we would have all told you not to do it. I'm feel bad for what has happened though! I hope you find a way to still take your family.

Actually, I did have a thought.... where are you staying? Can you "downgrade" your hotel to come up with some extra money??

Oh, and please disregard people like Ragmop... most of us are really here to help.

Is there any way you could put the ticket on a credit card and then line up some ways to pay it when you get home. I'd suggest a garage sale or selling on ebay before you go but it doesn't sound like you have time for that.

and please tell your husband right away. The longer you wait, the worse it gets.

Seriously.......He could have "sold" you already used tickets and you would not have had a clue until you stuck it into the turnstile at WDW-there is no way a person can tell if a ticket has been used or not. Buying Tickets ahead of time from anyone than WDW is one of the biggest "no-no" s a person can do.

hope it works out for you...you can get tickets for the parks by going to a Timeshare presentation...they are usually oneday-onepark tickets...

A suggestion for you anyway...and follow up with Visa - if that's how you paid.

Good luck...

:sunny:

I think at this point since you're running out of time:

1. Tell your husband and talk to him. He may be angry at first, but maybe both of you can come up with some kind of solution.

2. Can you afford to put it on another credit card, and have the means to pay it off later after the trip?

3. Where are you staying? Can you cancel that and maybe priceline/hotwire a cheaper stay? I know that through Hotwire the Doubletree Club hotel just outside of the WDW entrance is running at $42/night. Would that work for you?

4. Look at your itenerary again and see what you can shave off. If you're planning to go to USO, maybe you can drop that and save the money there. If you're doing the Poly Luau/Hoop de Doo, drop that. Drop expensive dinings and put the money towards replacing the tickets.

5. Don't know if you're flying or driving, but if you're flying can you get a refund on the tickets and drive instead?

We all make mistakes now and then. Live and learn. Good luck to you and hope things work out.

OMG!!! I once contemplated buying tix on ebay many years ago, long before I knew about these boards or even about the frequency of ebay fraud, or that WDW passes were designed in such a way you couldn't tell if they had days valid, etc. It's just luck and my overly paranoid nature that kept me from doing it.

This sounds like an excellent idea! Or...as another poster mentioned (and though I hate to advise anyone to use credit cards when they're on tight budgets) maybe you COULD use CC's to buy passes?

And ultimately there're a lot of non-park things to do too.

Best of luck and please let us know how it turns out.:)

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAA NELLLLLLLY!! Where'd that TAG come from?????

I LOVE IT!!!:p

I go with the CC idea also, if on a CC, you can hold up payment for fraud. How did you pay.

And welcome to the DIS. :wave2:

Another suggestion is, if you paid PayPal I think you can get your money back- or at least part of it.
I agree with everyone else who is saying to tell your husband right away. Waiting any longer only worsens any situation.
Good luck.

I'm so sorry. I don't have any advice that the others haven't mentioned, but don't be too hard on yourself. A lot of us have been taken on ebay before. It happens. I hope things work out for you!
