He peed on the potty for the first time today. He seemed a little shocked at what he'd done, until he realized that's what I WANTED him to do. Then he grinned like he was very proud of himself.

Now how do I get him to do it consistantly?
*ETA--I just now changed his diaper cuz he was poopy and after I cleaned his rear, I sat him down on his potty. He responded immediately by peeing. Which made me go again.

Yay.

I know I know..I must be to be this happy over a bodily function.

Whoo way to go to your son!!! It's so exciting the first time they go on the potty. We bought one for my son last weekend and he's sat on it but nothing yet. He's still young but he's showing all the signs of wanting to train, he asks if we are going pee pee or poo poo when we go to the bathroom and he brings me a diaper when he is wet and wants to be changed. He likes to flush and say bye bye to the pee pees. LoL. So we'll see.

Again, congrats to your little guy.... big cheers to him. Remember, he'll do it when he's ready which sounds like he is very very close.

Congratulations!

When I first started potty training my son, I'd put him on the potty first thing in the morning and tell him I really wanted to see a "bright yellow pee-pee." We'd fool around or read, and he'd go for me sooner or later. I made a big deal out of it every time.

Next, I started putting him on the potty every two hours.

Eventually, he caught on! They all do. Like they say, nobody starts high school in diapers.

Hope it goes easily for your boy from here on out.
