Has anyone purchased a waring popcorn machine? Or any other kind that gives you the fresh popped popcorn like you get at the movies?
We have pool parties all summer long, and I am thinking that may be cheaper than other treats..and I just love popcorn.
Any pros or cons to any machines?

Were you watching QVC today? They had one on, the Stir Crazy. It looked really great. I'm considering getting one to replace my air popper.

wow, my parents had a stir crazy back in the early 80's, can't believe it's still around!

OP, are you thinking of getting a full size, movie theater kind of machine?

We bought ours from Sams Club 7 years ago. We love it and use it all the time. I think we paid around $299 for it. It is big and sits on a red stand with a wheel. I have no clue what brand it is. We bought 50lbs of popcorn from amazon along with oil. Yum.

We love it for movie time. We also pop a batch and take it to the beach. Sometimes I will pop a batch and bring it on a rode trip for a snack. I have no regrets at all.

I just saw one like the one above at costco but it wad cheaper than that one.

Pretty sure QVC also sells big ones like you're talking about. They really sell almost anything...

I got one from Amazon at Christmas. I believe it was around $150.00. When I get home, I will look up the make and model number-- it's FANTASTIC!!!

We bought a Stir Crazy just before Christmas when Target had them on sale for $20. Makes excellent popcorn. Makes a good sized batch and is easy to store and clean. We also use it to roast nuts.

We have a popcorn machine at our house...we LOVE popcorn!

This is ours...
sorry...bad phone picture...

and we use this popcorn because it is all measure out...we sometimes try different brands, but we tend to buy the pre-measured stuff.

Now, we are a family of 5 and we can knock down some popcorn so we went with a 8 oz. kettle. I use it all summer to take popcorn to the pool, well, we use it all year long! I pop it here at home and take two of the Disney popcorn tubs worth to the pool...there will be only about a 1/2 tub left in the machine (which DH will eat on his lunch break). I went with the 8oz. kettle to keep from having to keep refilling and popping.

I bought mine on Amazon and I just looked and it is $219 without the stand.

I just wish I had saved my old-fashioned air popper. I can't find any microwave popcorn that isn't salted or have butter flavor on it.

Used to be able to find it, but not any more.

We love our Whirley Pop too. Super simple and easy. Bought it on Amazon, but also found it at Bass Pro Shop/Outdoor World. They carry the Wabash brand popcorn there too, or you can use regular popcorn and as little as 1 teaspoon of oil per batch. My kids declared it the best popcorn ever.

Oh, how I want one of those big poppers....but the only place I could put it is in the "formal" dining room, and I don't think that would look so great. Where do you guys keep them? I think it would be such a fun gift for my husband.

We have a Stir Crazy for now.

Mine is in the hallway as you enter my home...not the ideal spot, but it is the only place I had to put it at the time and now it just resides there! So, I decorated around it...put up movie posters and such.

We used to have a stir crazy when I was a kid! We have the whirly pop now but it's getting really hard to turn and tends to burn. We use it for kettle corn. I wonder if you could put the sugar & oil in the stir crazy? I don't see why not?

Mine is on the kitchen counter. Thankfully, I have a ton of counter space. One tip I would give if you are looking at one of the bigger machines is to make sure the inside is not too cramped so you can actually get your arm in there to do stuff. Some of the less expensive ones have an issue with this.

Also, the one in the link I posted earlier has a bottom warmer in addition to the warming bulb in the main body. This is great for keeping the popcorn crisp and fresh tasting.

The Great Northern popcorn at Amazon is also awesome. I like it better than the Wabash that we used to use. All pre-measured so no muss, no fuss.

Used to be able to find it, but not any more.

Just put popcorn kernels in a plain brown paper lunch bag and microwave.
