As some of you know from December99's post last week, I have been fighting a kidney stone attack that hit right before I went to Washington, DC last week. I ended up making two trips to George Washington University hospital while I was there, and went to my urologist on Monday afternoon. GWUH and my urologist worked hard with me on pain management, for which I was grateful. The painkillers really dulled my senses and my ability to function, but for the most part kept the most intense pain down to stints of 90 minutes to 2 hours each day/night (and dropped that pain down to the level of screaming in anguish rather than passing out or throwing up :( ). Anyway, I finally passed the stone about 5:00 last night, took one more dose of painkillers and one more dose of ibuprofen. I am now getting back to normal functions, thinking much more clearly, and feeling not much worse for the wear. Thanks to all who expressed their concern and support. I thought about having December99 post that I was in the emergency room at GWUH and that I needed an emergency DIS meet to get me through! ;)

I'm glad this is over and so glad you are no longer in pain.

Sorry you were in such pain, but glad that this is over with Mike! I hope you won't ever have to deal with this again!

Glad everything is back to "normal" for you Mike! I can't imagine the type of pain that is!

I'm so glad you passed it.

I have never had a kidney stone, but my patients say it's just horrible

That pain ranks right up there with childbirth...glad you delivered your stone!!:p

I'm so glad you're feeling better. Kidney stones are the worst pain ever. I had two at one time and a third closely after and lived on percoset for a week. Just keep drinking lots of water!

May you never have another stone!

Glad to read that you're over the hump; ureteral colic is PAINFUL. I'm just glad that it's all behind you :D

Good to hear you are on the road to recovery, Mike. Sure sounds like you indeed went through a lot. Hope you continue in the this good mode!!

I'm so glad you're feeling better. :)

I'm glad to hear the ordeal is over, Mike.

Mike I am happy to hear it passed. I just went through a Kidney stone deal, but the misdiagnosed it and it turned out to be something else. I hope you are feeling like yourself soon!

BIG {{{HUGS}}} Mike!! How awful! :( If someone hadn't said it was like childbirth than, I wouldn't have had any idea but, NOW I DO!!

Let's talk 'lunch'!! ;) :teeth:

I'm glad to hear the worst is over Mike!

Continued good health to you!

Glad you are feeling better. I can't imagine how painful that was :(

I'm so glad you finally got rid of that thing. When I was little, my grandma used to have them all the time. I cant imagine what that poor woman went through w/o the pain meds we have now. I think you need a vacation. ;) :) How about a nice trip south? LOL

It sounds like it was extremely painful, I'm glad to hear it's over. :D

Doctor P., I was in the hospital here in Washington, D.C. for the same thing you were at the same time. Only difference being I was in Georgetown Hospital rather than GW. Fortunately, mine passed the next day.

I am so sorry that you had to experience this for so many days. I certainly could not have related to the pain you are talking about until three weeks ago when I had my very first (and hopefully last!) kidney stone. I think I would rather be in labor than go through that again!

Hopefully, this is the end of your kidney stones!
