I am freaking out SOS

We will be using our new 160 VDH points for our June 2027 trip. Banking all of our 2026 points to combine with the 2027 points. We're also June UY people!

For our summer 2028 trip, we will be using all of our VGC points from 2027/2028 use years. Basically going to alternate every summer between two resorts.

I'm excited but it does suck to only go once a year. I'm jealous of people who get to go often!
Sounds normal lol

Most buyers do not ask to spread payments out like those well versed here on the DIS do.

So, the way the contract is written probably assumes people are closing on the typical 30 days.

But, if they are going to allow more than that, then it definitely needs to be mentioned!!
Yeah the whole mess could have been avoid if they told me we will spread it out, but dont make stay until you put enough money down to cover stays at rack rate, boom understood!

I picture DVC "behind the scenes" as some mysterious undercover operation. The Quality Assurance girl reinstating my reservations said she will finish my last two because she's going home for the night. They dont allow me to communicate with her directly because she is a behind the scenes person, so the QA cast member who answers phones has been communicating with me and her as a middle man.

Meanwhile I just got an email that my contracts have been finalized, so another one of these mysterious qa people that work well into the night is at it again!

They are more mysterious than the FBI.

Well the contract you booked all those stays under no longer exists does it because you changed the number of points, so they had to cancel them. Hopefully you can call when they open and get the bookings restored.
That’s not accurate. You have individual contracts for each DVC holding you have. This is how people can sell some of their DVC points.

Huh? Not understanding. This is not one of those cases. Have to officially own your contract first to sell it. This can of worms was unique (rare situation) and a learning experience for any direct purchaser. @Girlstar30 is taking one for the team for science. (Not voluntarily but bravely).

You have a DVC membership number. This is different to your points contract number.

Each point contract you have has a different number. This is not the same as your membership number. When you buy points you can request to have your points split into different contracts. Easier for selling etc.

Wow… I just read all 12 pages of this. On page 1 it was clear to me I didn’t need to read anymore because I was sure it was all going to work itself out fine. But then I couldn’t look away… like slowing down in traffic to watch someone changing a tire on the side of the road. I know it’s gonna work out fine but, just in case, I better hit the brakes and watch them anyway even if everybody behind me is late to work.

That’s what I think happened in this thread.

I think she's up to XXXX.53, XXXX.54, XXXX.55, etc. with all the rewritten contracts.

I can confidently say that I will never be faced with this situation.

The issue came about because the original contracts (50/50/50 points) needed to be null and voided when the buyer decided to go with 200pts under the new incentives instead (75/75/50 points). No contracts have closed at this point.

DVC needed to cancel the original contracts, but there were already reservations made on them. Apparently they couldn’t just transfer them over into the new contracts, presumably because they couldn’t open the new contracts before voiding the originals. The reservations needed to get attached to something with valid access to inventory… then they could close the originals, create the new ones, and then transfer the pending reservations over on to them.

Eta- one reservation had already been used too, probably making it even a bit more tricky for the late night mice to work on 🤣

There is a further complication of why I cant get out of this mess and just use my membership as normal and that is that i want member financing at the lowest rate after 20% down payment.

I am not eligible for this until April because i havent been a member for a year yet. But i met my guide on my birthday on a rental stay and she fought for me to be able to start the process now and extend my payments until April. I am ready to close with my 20% so I can use my points whenever I want, but DVC wont let me because per their rules it needs to be a year of membership before they switch me over to member financing.

So thats why I got the special permission for 75 day extension to close longer than other people now despite their rule change of 30-45 days to close because none of this would be possible without that. So I am actually very greatful for the ability to even be booking reservations right now and the fact that they have already let me go twice and celebrate valentines day.

Because of my guides fight for us she was able to get us the "free 2025" points without paying dues because none of this would have been possible without her and I would have missed out on my Feb uy by the time were eligible in April instead of getting those points dues free. Florida told me absolutely not to all of this and thats another reason I stuck with VDH, California has been good to us!

So if anyone thinks im just a hot mess doing this (I understand lol) this was the smartest thing we could do despite all of the issues. Most people wouldn't be in this situation because most people probably dont have a guide that would deal with all this esp for 150 point sale which is what we were going to go with when she decided to work her magic.

Now not switching to 200 would have mitigated some of this, but I know we need at least 200 for our travel goals and so I have zero regrets and nothing but gratitude to my guide and DVC despite being frustrated and expressing that throughout this, and I will express that to my guide today because im sure shes coming back to a barrage of emails for QA.

Thank you for tuning into another episode of Girlstar30 Disboards telenovela. The saga will continue today im sure 🤣

And to think I had no idea I was doing anything out of the ordinary 🤣🤣 Im glad to be a source of entertainment from the same questions we get on the boards 🤣 I am flattered that I dont think, correct me if im wrong, that even @Sandisw has heard of this rare anomaly before 🤣🤣

Yet they allowed me to do exactly that. And like I said the contract doesnt say you cant. So this needs to be explained to locals who can go as soon as the points hit. I signed a contract saying I would pay. Me being me i saw nothing wrong with that because I am going to pay. Now I know their actual policy and I can proceed accordingly
When I bought VGF fire sale my guide met me over at VGF and we did the paperwork in an office there. I spread my payments out to get the maximum credit card points. They loaded my points while I was sitting there, clearly before I was finished paying for them. They also loaded my magical beginnings points. My guide must have had past trauma because she made me promise that I would not book any reservations with the MB points or it would cause a train wreck for her to undo. 🤣 🤣🤣 she did point out the contract language that if I used points and then didn’t complete my payments then I would owe them rack rate. Obviously, I didn’t make any contract changes so it went smoothly.

They didnt tell me anything so I thought it was all mine for the taking 🤣🤣 I took "Welcome Home" a little too serious and welcomed myself right in 🤣🤣 🎶 A Disney vacation will make you feel alive 🎶

Each point contract you have has a different number. This is not the same as your membership number. When you buy points you can request to have your points split into different contracts. Easier for selling etc.

What happened in this case is that they decided, when going from 150 to 200, to change the number of points in each contract being purchased.

Originally it was 50/50/50 but when they went to 200, they asked for 75/75/50.

So, those initial contracts had to actually be canceled and completely rewritten as new.

Which is why the reservations attached to them, and points already used, complicated it.

Had they just asked to add those extra 50 in a 4th contract, it would have been less complicated.
