A some of you will have realised by now, Belle and I know each other. In actual fact, we're married, but have our own user names on the DIS.
Obviously, we have spoken at some length about Belle's mother's illness and the implications of this and I know that Belle will come back to this thread shortly and respond to all your kind prayers and wishes.
Although I can't really add much more to what has already been said, both here and between Belle and myself, I felt inclined write a few words of my own.
Belle and I have known each other for a little over 10 years and from the moment that I was introduced to her family her mother made me feel very welcome. Since that first meeting, 'Mum' has gone through the trauma of seeing her husband (a proud retired army major) suffer with the degenerative illness of Alzheimer's, finally passing away in February 1998. During this period, she was forced, by the financial circumstances associated with her husbands care, to sell their home and move in with Belle's sister.
Over the years, 'Mum' and I have become good friends, often enjoying a joke and a glass of gin together, and I couldn't have wished for a better mother-in-law. Both as a young girl and as an army wife, she spent many years in India and the far east and has some fascinating stories of her life in these places.
Belle can be assured that, along with the support from her friends on the DIS, I will give her as much one to one support as I can during this very trying time.
