I am buying but need help

Here is another perspective. When we go to WDW we are there to enjoy the parks and the room is just where we end up at the end of the day, with the occasional hop back for refreshments or break. So, we prefer to be near the action and Epcot is the center for us. So, that puts BC and BW at the top of our list followed by OKW. For me the challenge with SSR, WL and now AK is they are further from the action and therefore it can take longer to get from those resorts back to a park. We are FL locals, so we always have a car, but some rely on Disney transportation and that can add some to your stay.

If you do SSR and have a car, you'll learn the back roads as it can get very congested coming back by DD.

Just another perspective as I know a lot of people do focus on the resort and its amenties, but the parks and access to them is equally important, IMHO.

BCV and BWV are fine if you love Epcot and MGM but their transportation to AK and MK stinks. YC, BC, BCV, BWI, BWV, Swan and Dolphin all share transportation and getting to the MK and AK takes forever and a day.

VWL has great service to MK and Epcot via boat/monorail...our experience with the buses stunk when we stayed there (did not try MGM just AK).

When staying at SSR we had no issues and enjoyed the fact that is we wanted to hop to a resort to eat we could hop over to DTD and grab a bus - that was VERY COOL!

When we stayes at AK the buses did not bother us either...

I guess it depends on how you deal with the pluses and minuses between the resorts.

If I were buying new currently I'd look long and hard at Animal Kingdom.

Yep. Me too. And the Lion says.... Rooaarr!

And for what it is worth, we own at BWV and in 9 years we have always gotten ressies at other resorts when desired. We just don't desire peak times and can be flexible.

Seven months:

Depends on a number of things -

When you are traveling (peak DVC times are not necessarily the same as peak Disney times)

What sort of room you want (2 Queens in a BCV two bedroom - good luck).

How flexible you can be (we'll take BWV or BCV gives you a better chance than 'we only want BWV Standard View. We can go this week or the next.).

How willing you are to use the waitlist

How close to seven months you call. Seven months has a better chance (or course) than four months.

How lucky you get. Even with all the above someone will post that they got a BW Standard View Studio for exactly their nights and no waitlist over F&W at five months. Since those rooms are pretty much booked NOW already for next year - they got lucky.

But I wouldn't set my heart on "we will always be able to switch." Each new DVC member means competition at the seven month window increases for existing resorts - proportionally harder at the small ones.

Thanks for the help...I bought at SSR (site unseen)...I actually think this resort will give us everything we are looking for in our disney trips plus get the 12 extra years...

I bought at 91...Could I have have gotten the promo at 86...I asked but no dice...I ordered yesterday...

Thanks again and looking forward to it...
