Sorry! :confused3 Tryin' to keep it alive!

Anybody going to be in Wildwood NJ for the HOG Rally this Thrusday thru Saturday??

Hope the weather is going to be great- we will probably ride down to Wildwood Friday night, hang out- then ride over and stay at my SILs place in Ocean City Friday night- get up and cycle on over to Wildwood again for the last day of the Rally! They usually have a big "parade of bikes" roaring down the boardwalk- its pretty cool.

The weather around here has been pretty yucky, so not a lot of riding :guilty:
I wish I was going to be there with you mad but alas I am stull waiting for my bike to come back from the shop. Hope you have a blast there :moped:

Just got back from 2 weeks of camping and saw this thread. Love the poem.
Our best friends are bikers (as are many of our friends) He has a 2004 Harley and she has a 1996 Honda Magna. They both rode from Toronto to Sturgis last August. Loved the trip.
There DD is 15 and rides a 125 dirt bike and they have taught my DD to ride a dirt bike (only a 80cc) My DD is hooked, wants to get a dirt bike!!!

This really is a great thread!!!! I am really contemplating carrying a copy of the poem with me when DH and I ride. That way when I hear or see someone who is disapproving of bikers I would hand them a copy. I have never had it happen....yet. Actually, we get into alot of conversations with strangers about how they would love to have a bike. They just walk up and start talking. Very refreshing actually.

That sounds like a great idea! Maybe we could print them smaller and laminate them and hand them out to all the "high brow-pea brains" :rotfl:

Uh-Oh this sounds like it could be the start of another LGMH frenzy but with the biker poem!

OK! I dont think this question has been asked of mojophone- or I may have missed it, but, what prompted you to post this poem?? AND what kind of bike do you have, and why is it in the shop??? :confused3

:goodvibes

Ok first I will ask a question then i will answer questions.
What in the world is a LGMH frenzy? :confused3

I posted this because when I read it so many things about it really hit home with me. It dawned on me that I see this type of behavior everyday and I chose to ignore it. I also realized that with the change of just a few words (really meaning change the TYPE of person, ie grudge, punk, heavy metal high class player etc etc the list could go on forever) this poem could apply to them as well. I can honestly say that I don't believe there is anyone in this world that doesn't have some sort of prejudice against a different type or class of people. I believe that we as a human race need to get over ourselves and learn to see through the exterior and realize that we are all built the same and it is our perceptions and beliefs that make us different.

I also posted this because :moped: I AM A BIKER :moped: and have also seen first hand how often people we affectionatly call "cagers" (automotive vehicle drivers) don't pay any attention to those of us that put our lives at risk everytime we get on our bikes and the only time they do see us is usually when they are afraid we might be some mr badazz that is going to hurt them. I hope something like this will help them to start "seeing us" in more ways than 1.

Where's my bike? :( waaaaaaa it's in the shop because I laid it down due to stupidity on my part and if I told you how i did it you would die laughing. btw I ride an 06 XLH883 Harley Davidson Sportster

OK folks, it's time to start sharing pics of our bikes....I'll be the first :moped:

No brainer, DH and me

Last two, bike before the world's supply of chrome was mysteriously gone  These pics show the bikes color better. It is called dragonfly green. Depending on how you look at it, you see gold, blue, teal, and of course....green!

hee hee  LGMH- Lime Green Mickey Heads (from Home Depot!) I am sure you have read about the craze here on the boards! All the cool kids are wearing them

I have always felt that way about "cagers" as you call them. Even way before DH got his bike. Actually people in general are just, pardon my language, stupid! :confused3 get them behind a wheel and forget about it! DH and I took the 2 day cycle safety course before getting our cycle licenses- and even though the course was about cycles- I think it has made me a better driver, more considerate and aware. I think the course should be MANDATORY instead of the worthless driving classes they offer highschool students, AND maybe everyone, all drivers, should have to take it every few years! :thumbsup2

My SIL has her own Sportster- DH wanted me to get one- but I am a happy passenger as I call myself. The only thing that I get on DH about while he is driving- is getting too close to the left near the yellow line :scared: scared the bejeezus out of me- I feel like the oncoming traffic is going to clip my left knee - thats how close I feel I am to the left. I hate that. (he is actually getting better, he is probably tired of me BIT*%ING) Other than that- I cant see over his big melon, so I cant see too much ahead! :rotfl: If I do happen to think I might tense up (taking a turn- or going around a circle- lots of those in Jersey!) I just close my eyes- this way, I cant tense up if I cant see anything! He never complains about me being on the back- I just go with the flow.......... :moped:

AW come on tell us how you laid the bike down. I really dont laugh at people, b/c I ALWAYS say- it could be me in that situation and I am sure you feel bad (or stupid enough about it!) I wouldnt want someone to laugh at me.

Talk about embarrasing- DH and I were in the parking lot of Mikes Famous HD in DE, all DH wanted to do was turn around- well! He did it way too slow and boink- over we go- I remember feeling like superman- I put my arms out infront of me like I was going to fly and jumped off the bike and landed on my feet- the bike was not so lucky- it went plop! yes! right in front of a big crowd b/c they were having one of their "events" needless to say- we both got superhuman strength and lifted the 750 lb bike up ourselves and took off! :lmao:
Talk about

wdwmom2- beautiful bike! LOVE the colors! :goodvibes

Whereabouts in PA are you from?? Do you do the PA Toys for Tots run on Delaware Ave in Nov?? Are you going to Wildwood? :confused3

Greencastle, PA, which is right above Hagertown, MD. I am not familar with the Toys for Tots run or Wildwood. Sorry. DH and I did do the God Bless America Ride from Greencastle to Martinsburg, WV. It ended at the Veteran's Hospital. No, actually it ended with me in tears as a girl sang "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood and watching the wheelchaired vet in the front row with tears flowing down his face :guilty: . I so badly wanted to go hug him, but then again I didn't want to embarass him.

Ok Ok since you insist. here goes nothing
I was just learning to ride and had not taken the RidersEdge course. I was at the end of my street, still in 1st gear and forgot to disengage the clutch. When it started to stall I gave it some gas and the bike took off out from under me. I didn't let go and drove it really hard right into the ground and did a whole lot of damage(to the bike not anyone else or anyone elses property). So now I sit here all broken hearted because I don't have my bike and I passed my class managing to get my full motorcycle endorsement.

No laughing :goodvibes BUT! That stinks! I am sure all you want to do is get on your bike and ride...and now you have to wait :guilty: When are you getting your bike back?

wdwmom2- Toys for Tots rides from Delaware Ave in Philly to the Childrens Hospital. 10s of thousands of bikes do this every year. And your governer, Ed Rendell is ALWAYS there to send us off (even when he was only the lowly Mayor :rotfl: )You get to take your xmas gifts INTO the hospital where some of the staff and sick kids :guilty: are all waiting in the lobby for you to pass by while they are clapping for us and saying thank you- pretty much every year I come out crying.

And Wildwood NJ (not far from the Cape May-Lewes DE ferry)- has a huge 3 day HOG Rally this week Thrus, Fri and Sat. Fun times to be had by all! :thumbsup2

I call the dealership usually on Fridays and have done that for appx 4-5 weeks and keep getting the same answer of 8-12 weeks. I took some pictures of it with my cellphone before before i crashed it into the pavement and I will attempt to post them here if i can figure out how. Man I hope they don't tie posting pics and stuff into paying for sponsorship.
Ignore the trashed garage please and btw it's clean now :woohoo:

I am also having some customizing done while they have it stripped to the frame and will post more pics of it once i get it back :thumbsup2

My father in law sent this to me and I thought it was really cool and thought it appropriate for this thread. hmm wait a minute I think he is calling me a crackpot lmdsao

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each
hung on the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always
delivered a full portion of water, at the end of the long walk from the
stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only
one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable
that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the
woman one day by the stream.

"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak
out all the way back to your house."

The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of
the path, but not on the other pot's side.

"That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower
seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water
them .

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate
the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to
grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each
have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good
in them.

SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great
day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Does anyone go to the bike week in Laconia NH? I live in the Lakes Region and I love Bike Week.
