I am a biker

I am very surprised there are not more "Disney Bikers" on the DIS boards!

The last thread about bikers I got involved in wound up getting kind of ugly and with me putting people on ignore. It was about lane splitting and loud pipes and stuff like that. Believe me, that thread was nowhere near as nice as this one. I've opened many helmet related threads and typed a long, ususally heated response, only to hit the back button.

Since then, I've pretty much stayed away from motorcycle threads. I almost didn't even open this one, but I'm glad now that I did.

I think this one may be different b/c as soon as you open the thread you see the moving poem mojophone posted-- hopefully it knocks some sense into "some" people (mostly the people who had the problems with the bikers on the thread you mentioned!) :rotfl:

I have never seen another thread on motorcycles- I will have to keep my eyes open!

I know, that's why I'm glad I opened it. Especially since there were so many like minded people here. I'm kind of suprised it's stayed so nice for so long.

They were mostly on the defunct debate board, which was a pretty tough place to hang out anyway. I've seen fewer fights in biker bars than on the debate board.

And thinking about how people judging bikers- what is funny is, there are so many Christian riding groups out there that own Harleys-- I am sure most people have no idea of this. Well, unless you are totally oblivious to the big cross on their jackets or helmets-- :rotfl:

Every bike event that I have attended this year had a Christian Bike tent set up and was well represented. What people need to understand is that there are bad people in every sector of society, obviously bikers included. But please look beyond them and see all the good people, people that would give you the shirt off their backs if you needed it.

I'm going on a cruise in November with my family--it has a medical conference that I'm attending.

That same cruise is also a HOHS cruise (hogs on the high seas). Everyone thinks I am nuts to go on this cruise once I found that out. Preconceived notions I against. I'm not worried about it. I think their rally wil be more fun than my boring medical conference!

Wow.About 2 months ago, my father finally got his dream, a motorcycle, not even 3 weeks after he got it someone cut him off causing him to really wipe out, the bike was ruined, he broke his leg in 2 places, broke a rib, had a broken blood vessel in his eye..he and his bike were a mess..the worst part was the person who cut him off never even noticed..they just kept on going. Thank God my dad wasn't killed. We have a few bikers in my family and they are some of the nicest people I've ever met!

Every September here in Reno, we have a great celebration for the bikers called Street Vibrations. It has the greatest group of men and women from all walks of life here to enjoy riding and displaying their bikes. I enjoy seeing all the bikes and everyone has a great time.

Nicest group of people I deal with all year. Very polite and courteous.

once again I am bumping because this is too important to me to let it die

I went to a CCYM camp last year, and one of the leaders of one of the church's that attended was a "Biker for Jesus". Nicest guy I have ever met. Also played Tuba at a local college, and his nickname was DuctTape, because he just loved DuctTape for some reason. lol

Thank you to the OP. Very important and valid points!!

i just got back from a motorcycle poker run..I had a blast! All of the people were so nice and we actually may be going back later for the picnic they are having...Everyone of the bikers were nothing but nice..it was a great day!

Heres my handsome DH taking a rest on his bike while waiting for me to take some cool shots in the cemetery! I try to get him to stop whenever I see a really old one-- I now have a habit of taking my camera with me on all of our rides....you never know what you might see!

very cool madhattir, I would love to see more pics of some of your rides, I think that we could even getting other riders to post pics of some of their roadtrips to help keep this thread alive

I actually JUST started taking my camera with me. At first I tried to hold onto it while riding, it was not a problem keeping a grip on it, its just that we are moving so fast- I couldnt really focus on anything! You always have to wait until you stop at a light or stop sign.....and then.....there is nothing to take a pic of! :rotfl: So now I keep it in the bag. :confused3

It would be fun to check out some of the other bikers pics!

Hopefully this thread will still be going at the beginning of Sept- we are planning a trip to the HOG Rally in Wildwood, NJ-- I will be sure to carry my camera there! BUT- I am sure some of the pics will not be "suitable" for the DIS boards! ;) You would be amazed at what type of "entertainment" you might find in an out of the way, off the street area! :rotfl2:

I'm going with MH!!!!!! :p

Love the pic of your DH on the bike. The pose alone made me wanna get my DH a bike. But I won't elaborate on that one. *wink*

Not sure if anyone here on the boards has ever been to Biketoberfest in Daytona but it is FUN! Its great just to be in the presence of all of the bikes.....and bikers!
This is not to be confused with Bike Week/Spring break ( :scared: sorry 2 different kinda biker people!)

If anyone will be in Disney from Oct 19 to the 22 and like bikes I suggest you take the haul to Daytona to check out the fun!
http://www.biketoberfest.org/

DH and I have been there 2x and I would love to go back again! We rented a Harley one year and drove between Disney and Daytona all week :moped:

Not going this year though :guilty: .....maybe next year!

Oh Please tell me it isn't so!!!! This thread can't be dead.....

Sorry! :confused3 Tryin' to keep it alive!

Anybody going to be in Wildwood NJ for the HOG Rally this Thrusday thru Saturday??

Hope the weather is going to be great- we will probably ride down to Wildwood Friday night, hang out- then ride over and stay at my SILs place in Ocean City Friday night- get up and cycle on over to Wildwood again for the last day of the Rally! They usually have a big "parade of bikes" roaring down the boardwalk- its pretty cool.

The weather around here has been pretty yucky, so not a lot of riding :guilty:

Trying to keep your thread alive-

Have a good time in Wildwood! :teeth:
