Ok, maybe this has been brought up 20 times already, but I didn’t see it so here goes…

We are at the 11 month point for May 08 Kidani reservations, which as far as I can tell, isn’t open for reservations yet. If I have Jambo reservations in hand for May, what do you think the procedure will be for when they do open up Kidani reservations?
Hypothetical #1:
It’s within the 11 month window still and all AKV owners have dibs, would the existing reservations have a higher or the same priority of changing over to Kidani prior to new reservations being made?
Hypothetical #2:
It’s opened up past the 11 month window and all members have an open chance, will they change the rules for non- AKV owners and reduce the window to give owners first dibs?

Has there been a precedent for this?

Am I missing something obvious or does the second situation seem all too likely and it will be a mad rush for the first rooms?

Also...what is the likelihood that when it does open that the amenities will be limited due to partially completed construction (i.e. no pool or pool bar etc.)

When they started taking reservations for Jambo House we were inside the 7-month window for the earliest dates that could be booked. For the first 3(?) weeks only AKV owners (using AKV points) could book anything and then they opened it up to all DVC owners/all resort points.

I expect they'll do something similar when they start taking reservations for Kidani. I think all AKV owners will have an equal chance to book Kidani. I don't think they will give priority to owners with existing reservations at Jambo House who want to switch to Kidani.

I spoke to my guide about this yesterday. He said go ahead and make your ressie for Jambo at 11 months. They expect to begin taking reservations for Kidani in August and at that point AKV owners will be given a priority window so that they can change their ressie from Jambo to Kidani.

It's going to be a zoo!

Pun intended ;)

Interesting...We made our AKV reservation 11 months out and I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the info.

I'm confused. It has been stated numerous times that AKV is AKV and that other than the deed, Jambo v. Kidani doesn't matter. If you make reservations at the 11 month window (soon open for Kidani owners like me with a June UY), I didn't think actual room assignments were made until virtually arrival anyway.

If that's the case, it sounds like all they have done is make the number/kinds of rooms in Kidani now available in the AKV reservation system. I would think Kidani v. Jambo would be a request at check-in just like specific buildings requests at OKW.

What did I miss?

According to information on DVC's public website, Jambo House and Kidani Village will be separate booking categories. You will know at the time you book which building you will be in. There will be separate check in areas for each building so you will need to know in advance where to go to check in.

Not a zoo! A resort! (pun intended)

I don't think that it would be that crazy. There are far more rooms at Kidani than Jambo, so if everyone at Jambo tried to switch, there would still be room for more.

We are planning a big 2 br stay next June with SIL, BIL, and our niece and nephew. The extra bath is just about a necessity. I hope that they start taking Kidani reservations in July, but August would be OK as well.
