Hypothetical 10/12

Congratulations, your new job is reviewing resorts across the country, and of corse you want to make Disney your first. You only have 24 hours and a budget for one standard room and $150 to review all of the dining choices.
Which WDW resort do you choose and how would your review go? Remember it is a full review of the entire resort.

My first thought is Animal Kingdom Lodge as it feels the most "self contained" and lots to review there ... might be hard to fit in all the dining options on $150 though between Jiko and Sanaa, etc.

My stay is at The Polynesian Village resort! I've never stayed there but have eaten there and it's a monorail resort. I'd love to check out the pool areas and the resort in general. I would eat breakfast at Kona, lunch at Captain Cooks, and dinner at Ohana for the full experience of the poly.

I'd stay at Beach Club. Have breakfast at Cape May Cafe, lunch at Beaches and Cream and walk over to Flying Fish for dinner. Might go a little over budget.

Fun! I would stay at the Wilderness Lodge, even their standard rooms have great views if you are high enough up! I would eat breakfast at Whispering Canyon, lunch at Roaring Forks and dinner at Artist Point. I don't like a lot of meat, so I would probably choose a veggie dish at Artist Point. I think I could make it in under the $150.

Same here. It's #1 on my list of resorts I would like to stay at (AKL is probably #2) but haven't yet, although I've eaten at O'hana a number of times.

GMTA, Phil! That's exactly where my mind went, and exactly my thought on the budget!

I would go to Mara, since it is counter service. Haven't been in awhile, so have no idea what I would have, but figure it would be more reasonable in price than a TS. They used to have a wonderful carrot ginger soup - if it's still available, I'd get that.

For TS, I would be torn. I've never eaten or stayed anywhere at Kidani (just looked around there, and it's awesome, the animals are even closer than at Jambo, which I LOVED!) and I'd love to try the bread service @ Sanaa. However, I've always enjoyed Boma - whether for breakfast, or dinner. And while Jiko is awesome, I love the idea of getting exactly what I want, as much as I want at Boma - so I can try a BUNCH of different stuff. For that reason (and the zebra domes, of course!) , I'd go to dinner at Boma. I actually talked by phone to the extremely nice pastry chef who "invented" zebra domes years ago - he made a huge custom one for my friend's birthday for me, instead of a cake. He even invited me to tour his kitchen sometime. Never forgot that (or him).

I think the only place you could probably do *ALL* dining options is going to be a value or moderate. once you add in pool bars that have food, drinking bars with food, etc etc you just can't do any of the deluxes for $150 unless you get the cheapest thing on the menu and only that.

wouldn't you also need a club level room to get to all dining options?

Seriously, I could do the bread service at Sanaa while watching the animals out the window every day

I would do WL. It is the most peaceful resort to just wander and I could budget Whispering Canyon for breakfast, their little QS for lunch, and Roaring Forks for dinner.
