Hypochondriac moment

Ok, so I am a closet hypochondriac. I am supposed to go on a trip tomorrow with a couple of friends. I already am a bit nervous about some of the logistics, and just got off the phone with a friend, whom I spent Easter with. She has the stomach flu or something (just got symptoms today). How long does the flu ‘hide’ before showing symptoms. What are the chances that she was already sick, and now I am going to get it? Please help me stop panicking.

Of course, my stomach is starting to get uncomfortable.

The stomach flu is usually highly contagious and is passed rapidly. When my whole family got it, we got sick within hours of each other. Fortunately, the stomach flu/virus is not a respiratory infection so, in order to catch it from her, you would have had to had some hand-to-hand contact, specifically from her not washing up well after using the bathroom. Since she was not exhibiting symptoms on Easter, you are probably safe. If she has a foodborne illness from some of that Easter food, and you ate the same thing, it will be hitting you soon too.

You made me feel better. I was lurking behind the scenes as a co-worker has had the stomach bug and I am paranoid I was getting it too. It has been 4 days since I have been around her so I feel better!! Law school made me too anxious. I feel like a nervous nellie!

Better, I think. I am not worried about food poisioning, because we ate out for Easter lunch, and all had different things. As far as I know, everyone else is fine. I am just a bit paranoid when it comes to 'throwing-up'. It is one of those irrational fears I have, especially when I know that I won't be in the comfort of my own home, and sharing a room with 3 other people.
