I'm training to finish the disney marathon in january and i wanted to know if anyone knew where i could get a waist pack for chunky people.

You can buy most of the fuel belt versions on ebay. XL fits waist size 36-38. and I find they are sort of stretchy. Just search for "fuel belt" and you will get lots of options, and they are cheap ($8-20).

They do come in XXL (up to waist size 41), but you might need to get that from their website, which is pricier (~$35-40): http://www.fuelbelt.com/fuel_belts/4_bottle.html

Hope that helps! :goodvibes

"Chunky" is a relative term, of course. A an XL fuel belt that goes up to 38" would have been way too small for me a couple of years ago.

Many of the Nathan belts go up to 46," but they aren't stretchy at all or necessarily the most comfortable. It's what I started with and still use, though.

The camelback belts don't specify, unfortunately, though I think their belts are fairly long.

Are you looking for a hydration belt or just a belt pack to carry gels/beans etc?

Yeah, "chunky" is definitely relative! :goodvibes

Spi belts will work for carrying keys, phone, id, etc., but they don't have water They come in waist sizes up to 55".

If a hydration pack won't work, there are also clutch bottles with handle grips.

For my 1/2 marathon, I used a fanny pack to hold my water, band-aids, moleskins, cell phone, etc. I bought an ugly safety orange one on clearance in the hunting section of K-Mart. It would probably work for someone over 50" around the waist.

Thanx everyone. i've always called myself chunky. my waist right now is 42" and i need something to carry water and fuel.

Here is a Nathan one that comes in many sizes:

An adjustable Nathan one:

You can also do a quickdraw type approach if you don't want something around your waist:

You might try a Dick's or a local running store, as well?

As I am a 38" waist now after having lost 35 lbs, I am sure I was at least a 42" waist to start. :goodvibes

It peeves me sometimes that it seems like all running gear and workout gear is made for smaller people. I am about 35 lbs over my "goal" weight right now and women's XLs only sometimes fit. Also, finding a running shoe in a women's 10 1/2... I have been mostly going towards the men's section.

What's the difference for wanting a waist one over a backpack one? Just curious.

I never knew they had waist ones. I've never personally used one but my brother has a backpack style one that he uses while ATVing.

Okay after seeing the link someone shared I guess that thing is different. His is a backpack with a "bladder" he puts his water in and a long "straw" he can pull around to drink.

thanks everyone I found a little exercise at walmart for $20 and I attach water bottles to it. I was looking at fanny packs and saw a couple of big ones that looked good for carrying water and munchies for the long walk/runs.

I've have an "apple" build and while my legs are starting to look great (modest, no? :rolleyes1), my tummy and waist will be the last area for me to lose weight. My waist is about 42" on a good day. Just the thought of having something around my waist when I ran was enough to make me feel the lack of oxygen. But, I'm running the Disneyland Half in two weeks and while there's plenty of water stations, I really needed something in which to put my fuel packs. So, I finally decided to give a fuel/water belt a try.

I went to REI to try on a bunch and decided on the Amphipod RunLite 2+. I used it for the first time last night on a five mile run. This is a belt with a front pouch and mine came with two 10.5 oz. clip in water bottles. You can buy additional water bottles if you want. It comes in three sizes and can accommodate waists sized 26 - 48 inches. The belt "clips" together with a really, really strong velcro closer. It felt fairly comfortable in the store, but I wasn't sure how it would do when I was actually running.

I was pleasantly surprised with out much I liked the Amphipod! The belt stayed put throughout the entire run, I never felt like it was interfering with my breathing, and the pouch was easy to access throughout the run. The two cons with the belt were: 1) you really have to pay attention to how you clip the water bottle back in when you're through drinking. The instructions say to make sure it doesn't slide up or down and then you know it's secure, but it will take a little more practice before it becomes second nature. 2) I put the water bottles in the front to be able to reach them easier and I had to change how I held my arms a bit or my forearms would scrape against the bottles. By the last three miles of the run, I'd adjusted to the new way to hold my arms and it no longer bothered me. I could have also moved the bottles to the back of the belt, I suppose.

Here's the model I bought (with a better picture) from the REI website: Amphipod at REI website
