On our first cruise we did the same as Pippy. Purchased transfers, but not
DCL air. When we checked in we informed Hyatt we were with DCL. They asked to see DCL transfer docs in our packet. They told us bags would be picked up no later than 8:30 AM for transfer to DCL buses. The porter arrived at 8:30AM promptly. We stayed in the room until our luggage was picked up, just to be sure....
I agree with Pippy on the DCL air. If you purchase DCL air, reps pick up your luggage directly from the baggage claim area & wisk it away, so you need to pack an overnight bag to use the night before. We brought our luggage up to the Hyatt & checked in. I think that's the difference.
I also agree with Lloyd. I wouldn't take the chance. What if your luggage doesn't get picked up? You're at the Port & luggage is in limbo- not too much wiggle room there. I think dis4me got really lucky! Maybe the Porter thought they paid for transfers & picked it up as it had the tags on it, ready to go? Thank goodness for them! The choices of clothing are limited on the ship- T shirts, Tshirts, or T shirts.
The limo service fully expects baggage to be included in the trip. I would rather know that our bags were delivered to a porter at the Port, than wonder if they made it to the bus....
Why would you expect DCL to transport your luggage if you didn't pay for DCL transportation? Doesn't make any sense to me....
I would check with Hyatt, or DCL before you do this.
