This will be our first Disney Cruise and also our first time staying at the airport Hyatt so I desperately need your help!!! Please forgive me if my questions have already been asked. We are arriving the day prior to our cruise and have booked the Disney Cruise Line transfers for the next day. I have read that we place our luggage out in the hallway the morning of our departure and it will be taken to the proper place is that correct? I was wondering what time do we catch the DCL bus that morning? Is that time assigned in advance or do we just show up? If I need to schedule a time do I call DCL or Dreams Unlimited with whom we are booked to do that? In your opinion what is the best time to catch the bus? Finally, do we catch the bus at the lower level of the airport? I apologize for so many questions but I really want the best advice and that's always found right here on the DIS!!! Any info is most appreciated!

Carla,
We just did this on our December cruise. Just let them know you are going on a Disney cruise when you check-in. We stayed at the Hyatt the night before and they give you an envelope that explains the entire check-out/getting on the bus process. This tells you when and where to go.

On Saturday morning things couldn't have gone smoother. We weren't really comfortable leaving our luggage in the hall, so we pulled it down to the lobby where they checked us off the list of cruisers and off we went for a yummy buffet breakfast. There was a "Q" for bus assignments just off the hyatt lobby. Then you waited for your bus to board and followed your DCL representative down to the busses. They had a movie playing for the kids. We were on our bus by 11 and at the port before noon.

Hope this helps.

When we were there in October, we were told to be in the hotel lobby by 9:15 am. We were met by two Disney Cruise Line reps who gathered everyone and led us downstairs to get the bus. By the time we got on the bus it was 10:00a and the ride took one hour to get to the port.

It was all so simple and organized. I am going to do it again this coming October.

Thanks so much for your quick replies!!! The whole process sounds great. It also sounds simple which gives me hope that even I can do it!!!

I just love these boards!

Hey Carla thanks for asking these questions! We are doing this in February and I was wondering the same exact questions. It's sound pretty easy from the replies you got.

Keep those good questions coming, cause there's a lot of us out there that appreciate it!

I am also considering staying at the Hyatt - my plan is to do the 4 days on land + 3 days on ship cruise (& the land portion comes first, so the transfer on the first day will be to the resort rather than to the port).

Question : what time does the transfer-to-resort start ? And how long does it take for the entire process (ie, what's the earliest I can hope to be at the WDW resort & checked-in - Polynesian - if I stay in the Hyatt Sat night, & take the Disney transfer on Sun morning ?)

I am trying to decide between renting a car or getting Disney to arrange transfers (cost is probably lower with the car rental for the entire week even if I only use the car for the transfers !). Of course, the transfers are much less hassle (which is important). But I want to be in one of the parks as early as possible on Sunday, so wondering what's the earliest I can hope to get there with the Disney transfers...

I'm glad I could help GavinsMom!!!

Now if I could just find the Hyatt for less than $157 I would be sooooo happy. I just checked Hotwire and I found one that sounds just like it would be the Hyatt based on 3 1/2 star rating and the amenities ( restaurants, pool, gym, business center and tennis nearby and no shuttle) for $88 but I have never used Hotwire and I'm afraid it won't be the Hyatt. So many decisions to be made!!!
