Hurricanes and AKL?

Has anyone been at AKL during a hurricane? I was interested in what happens to all the animals. Do they take them into "night houses" earlier than you might expect. And after the storm, are they kept "off-stage" longer because of checking and repairs to all the trees? Just wondering what I might expect that's unique to AKL if there's a hurricane while we're there in September.

We were there during Charley. I know they put all of the animals in except for some birds. They thought that might be more stressful to them. I can't remember when they took the animals inside and brought them back out because it was rather nuts just wondering what was going on. I do know that I didn't notice that the animals weren't out afterwards. The day after the hurricane was very nice so I'm sure the animals were out after they checked everything?
The only thing I remember was the pool was closed for two days and lounging at the pool is one of my favorite things to do at the AKL.
