I know this is early, but as soon as this comes ashore people are going to want to help. May I suggest finding an agency like the American Red Cross and making a donation.

I went down to Florida immediately after Andrew to work at a hospital. I stayed there over the weekend and did volunteer work at the West Palm Beach Fairgrounds. That was the "staging point" for the relief trucks coming in from all over the US. I spent from 9 pm to 7 am sorting the tractor trailer trucks. (Night one I was staff, night two I was a supervisior)

WE got JUNK!!! Folks in S. Florida don't need Wool coats, torn sweaters, ratty old undies. (WHO wants to wear ratty old undies?) We got expired food goods, expired baby formula etc. WAY to many people seemed to use this as an opportunity to give away the stuff Goodwill wouldn't take!!!!!

If your chuch/group insists on donating stuff please try to limit it to useful stuff. Water, baby food (CURRENT), diapers, female supplies, cleaning supplies, personal cleaning supplies etc....

Ideally give cash. The relief agencies can efficiently bring in water, cleaning supplies, appropirate clothing etc...

God Bless everyone in the path. They will need our help and prayers.

There was a link somewhere to redcross as well--on the CB. They are already collecting monetary donations.

And don't forget they will need blood also.
