Yeah, but I also saw one of the hurricane experts on TWC say that as long as the barometric pressure doesn't start falling even lower, this storm is not likely to increase strength. Through the day today the pressure has been pretty steady, where last night it had been continuing to fall.
We are a few hours out of Orlando headed to Nashville and I can confirm I-75 hotels are booked up. We can't do this trip in one day and have rerouted through Alabama.
My daughter is also heading to BWV, but on 10/11 out of PHL. So far, Southwest is not rescheduling flights to MCO beyond 10/8. She's keeping an eye on the conditions in Orlando but I think we all just have to wait and see what happens. Meanwhile, saying prayers for everyone in the path of this monster storm. If the Board Walk villas are open and ready to receive us, we'll check in on 10/12. As of now it appears the the eye will be about 50 miles from WDW which is on the 'safer' side of rotation. At any rate we'll have a good idea of the possibilities Sun at the latest (I'm guessing), 2 - 3 days before our scheduled arrival.

To take this thought further - my family has a vacation planned for Thanksgiving week. A cruise hitting many of the islands just impacted by this storm. We have decided to cancel that cruise because those islands will not be ready for us by then. Sure, they will want our $$$, as will the cruise line, but we will wait until everything has had time to be safely repaired.People are being a bit too blasé about this whole thing. By no means am I the voice on authority on such things nor am I saying you would take what I say as gospel, but I feel like if you plan on arriving on Saturday with expectations for a perfect trip, I'd probably reschedule.
Heck, if I had a trip planned and I was still able to cancel accommodations I'd probably give this at least two weeks, if not more, to blow over.
I don't usually jump in to threads with no info but just wanted to say I have been looking for posts from you today hoping you had a safe arrival. Take care!Ok, i read the closure thread and didn't see it mentioned, other than a couple stores. What is the status for Disney Springs today, Thursday and tomorrow, Friday? Trying to decide what we plan for
News here says 136 dead in Haiti. The pictures look horrific.
Please, everyone stay as safe as you can.
My last hot meal for a day or two. I have left over French toast from breakfast. Gonna save this wrapper if we have power in the morning I can wrap the toast in this and use the iron to warm it up
So since everything is closed and the parks are not opening on Friday will Disney automatically refund the MNSSHP tickets? I don't want to call and take up a cast members time when they need to be helping with guests on property. I am sure even getting through will be a nightmare. Since we live here in Florida we were driving over tomorrow. We cancelled our hotel and now just need to cancel the party...
Truly. I mean it was sunshine and blue skies. No outer squalls yet even. All my neighbors came pouring out of their houses and we all had a pow-wow about our bad luck in the street. Lesson learned. Next hurricane, heaven forbid, I'm getting every stitch washed well in advance.Haha, I think I could relate to how you must have felt. It's like, I've got stuff to do. How DARE the weather interrupt me!![]()
For anyone at the parks, how're the lines for bus/monorail transport back to the resorts?
I expect that to be an issue come park closure.
