Hurricane Matthew Closes WDW - Reopens Saturday, October 8th

I take it you declined the CDW insurance
Haven't decided yet, we pick up the Dollar car at 9:30 am on the 12th, in the past we've never taken any extras. I'll have my secretary (read, Wife) check our credit card, pretty sure there's coverage there and pretty sure our State Farm kicks in too. Bottom line, we'll be parking away from loose and tall things.

I've gotten 2 calls this morning (both went to voicemail tho) about how my reservation at Ft Wilderness (Sat-Tues) is cancelled and I need to call and reschedule - well, one said it was cancelled, the second voicemail said it was still active and it's imperative I call back immediately, but she gave me the general reservations number that has the long wait. I can't really sit on the phone for 60+ minutes at work, so I'll probably call back when they re-open on Saturday. My husband's been on the phone for 3+ hours trying to deal with our MNSSHP tickets (Friday night) that he thought he'd cancelled, but they keep sending me emails stating that I've purchased them rather than cancelled them. I'm sure that will work itself out tho and I'm not worried. We have other issues with our Monday MNSSHP tickets, but we won't try to reschedule those until Saturday morning, too.

The call center closes tonight at 7pm and won't open back up til Saturday morning.

Stay safe folks.

Could you try to email them? Another poster had much better luck reaching someone that way.

For those interested in phone wait times... I called Disney this morning to cancel our ASMu and CSR reservations for this weekend. Was on hold for 2 hours and 13 minutes before finally speaking to a CM. So if you need to call them, make sure to allow PLENTY of time.

I ended up changing our flight scheduled for tomorrow afternoon early this am to a flight Saturday am. I am still thinking we won't make it because MCO won't be back open by then. DVC Member services is awesome, they returned my points to their original use year. They said that if we can't make it they will refund the points, no questions asked.

If you had a Disney vacation booked for next week...Mon 10th - 16th would you cancel and reschedule?
We are driving down from Cincy on Thursday till Tuesday ( 13th to 18th) we are planning on coming but keeping close watch. If it " loops" may land more south and much lower category, or even TS or TD. Could be a super soggy trip!

Something seemingly dumb that might make everything more pleasant for those riding out the storm. I've seen mention of getting laundry done, but not of getting baths/showers done. If you are in a single bathroom dwelling, you will likely need to keep your bathtub filled with water for this event (in the event power is lost), thus making bathing really tough (who wants sink baths?). Therefore, it might be a good idea to get everyone a bath or shower by the storm start tonight. Being clean is just more pleasant and probably more calming for many - normalcy is the goal and that will provide more normalcy, especially to kids.

I saw this product on Reddit earlier -- a bladder system for storing water in your bathtub. A pretty brilliant idea that seems so obvious.

It's a bit too short notice to order if you're in Florida right now of course, but maybe bookmark it for future reference.

Can anyone give any update about whether the food courts and especially the stores are closing at all resorts at 5:00?
Nothing listed on the HUB says all food options will close. I would Imagine because the values all have separate buildings thats why they would close. The resorts that have all the rooms attached will likely keep things open for people because its indoors and nobody has to go outside. Yacht and Beach for example.

Would expect Disney to transfer the calls to other call centers but it will be a major surge in calls still. Look - its a vacation; I love WDW and Disney has proven pretty consistently to be fair to its customers.

If it as bad as it can be, not sure going to Central Florida the next two weeks is really a vacation. If someone is expecting Saturday morning that MK will be magically 100% ok and the CMs unaffected, well someone needs to wake up. My hope is this thing magically turns left and becomes a fish killer. But that seems very wishful. 26 years Hugo kicked Charleston in the teeth that cam roaring into Charlotte in the middle of the night. Charlotte is over a 150 miles from Charleston; major parts of Charlotte were without power for 2 weeks. I use this as an example to illustrate it mat be more than one day for places like WDW to come back into shape.

I would be less than shocked to see parts of WDW to be down for a while

I just heard from my sister at All Star. They have changed it to food courts open until midnight with limited food options after 8pm.

Thanks for the info. I'm particularly interested in SSR, where my daughter is staying. Of course, there are lots like that - Poly, GF, all the moderates, etc. If anyone has any info about any other particular resorts, I'd love to hear them!

Could always fly out of Tampa. That is about 90 mins from orlando

We're sticking to our plan, fly from PHL to MCO early Wed., 10/12, home on Sat. the 22nd. Looks like Wed will be flyable at both airports, once we get there I don't care if we're delayed coming home.
