Hurricane Matthew Closes WDW - Reopens Saturday, October 8th

I don't think many grocery stores in the area are going to be delivering in the middle of tropical storm conditions...nor do many likely have any sort of inventory left to deliver anyway.
we are in a Hurricane watch..... Nothing is getting in NOT gas or food until the winds go back down! That's way they say " food and water for 3 days"

I just think those in the park at Disney are just being rude to the CM, thinking of themselves and how "my vacation is ruined!"...

Please also remember your complaints about "staff" issues is also the issue of a CM not being able to get home safely, take care of their families, their home, and also have family members halfway across the country worried sick! Take care of each other and please, please be kind to the CM's who are taking care of you!

I have to wonder how many people talking about price gouging are actually here?

We want to stay safe, have food and honestly it's not that expensive and going to the store just isn't an option.

We just got a flashlight from a CM who was coming door to door.
There are lots of folks on Facebook who are there that are complaining about it. Again, glad that you are satisfied. But not everyone is.

I am glued to this thread and the news. Everyone stay safe and inside! Keep us posted if you can, if you have to be stranded I can think of worse places other than Disney. Latest news says it may make landfall at Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral. I am concerned for everyone in the path of this storm.

I really like seeing the pictures and getting reports from those of you who are there now. It is helpful to see what is going on, especially those of us who have family there now. thank you for taking the time to do this. Please keep the updates coming if you can, stay safe. We are here if you need us.

OKAY ................ 2 days of watching all this stuff,
now seeing the prediction is not looking good for my home

I really need to turn off my swirling head a few hours.
Heading to TRIVIA where I am not allowed to use my phone even.

I'll be back ... trying to help distracts all my angst over my home.
Get to your spot, hunker down and try to chill.
Be back later :wave2:
Take care and Be well, friend

Especially for locals, any thoughts on us arriving no later than around 9am? It kills me to think of not getting there til Saturday night or even later:sad: It can't be helped and safety is top priority. But we've been looking so forward to this for a year...
Not sure what highway you would go to Orlando on? you'll have to go on the west of FL then go over if you can! I live off of I 4 and the St John bridge is right by me and if they close it then you're not going in or out of Orlando...

With this in mind, there's no way parks will be opening on time on Saturday. No one will be able to assess the damage because they won't be able to get there.

Good catch I didn't notice the date.

Looks like it depends on where people are at the moment. I have some friends local who are getting bands of rain and wind and others that are only seeing slight wind.

Now Miami on the other hand is getting slammed right now. My family in Boca already left for higher ground and the Boca beach area was told to evacuate. Just because it isn't bad now doesn't mean it won't be bad in a few hours as the bands move further north.

Also for those who have never experienced a hurricane where it makes landfall really means jack. There is no "good" side of a hurricane. There is the bad side and the worse side. Although the winds may only be tropical storm level winds in the WDW area they will be consistent winds. Even when it is just a thunderstorm that causes the winds they come and go with in an mere hour or two. This hurricane is being shown to show high winds for several hours somewhere around 12-24. Don't mistake the calm before the storm for it not happening. I'm not trying to scare anyone I'm just trying to tell you that it may seem like it is all for nothing now but things can and probably will get worse as the night progresses.

Mayor just declared curfew for Orange County tonight (Thurs) at 11pm till Sat at 7am.

If the procedures haven't changed there is usually a hunker down crew at each of the parks. Just a handful of people who will be able to go out and access any damage asap.
I believe this is still the case. They will probably go out tomorrow afternoon and check.
