Especially for locals, any thoughts on us arriving no later than around 9am? It kills me to think of not getting there til Saturday night or even later:sad: It can't be helped and safety is top priority. But we've been looking so forward to this for a year...

Update from All-Star after overhearing a conversation with a manager.

The signs on the door saying no food court tomorrow in their box lunches tonight.
The lines for the food court are very long and people are buying extra for tomorrow.

However, I learned that there is an incredible amount of bottled water on hand ready to be distributed and the food court will be opening late and not be completely full service but they will be opening. You are not permitted to eat dinner at another resort with reservations. I don't think they have any way of stopping you from the food court but if you were thinking of skipping to foodcourt don't come to the All-Star sports.

Reading this thread it will be most helpful if we focus on the Disney news and not the coastal news or even Haiti. They are going through incredible turmoil in the store maybe a category 4 or a category five but it is going to be nowhere near that in Orlando.

I will also add that I don't think Disney was as prepared at least at this hotel as I expected them to be.

Somewhat of a giggle amidst all the havoc: My DD (a CM) was at MK as they were ushering folks out at 5pm (called a Hard close). Her job was to (in her words) "tell people no". She said she really couldn't get past the fact that Disney was actually telling the CM's to tell people "no you can't go into the store to shop we are closed".
I just think those in the park at Disney are just being rude to the CM, thinking of themselves and how "my vacation is ruined!"...

Floyd was a 3 and it wasn't anywhere near as close as this one is.

we were at the Beach Club during Hurricane Floyd and it was not as scary as the possibilities that Matthew is bringing. We saw the same preparations, evacuations, and park closures. but it seems a little more dire this time. but then the media makes it like the world is ending. but i get that is needed to get people alerted and out. Like others have said...it was a memory that we still talk about today. I recall that some of the resorts had flooding issues (CB I think) and they had to move people to the convention center at BC as a precaution.
Stay safe, stay there. Disney will do their best.

Planning on driving up for Food and Wine on Saturday morning. Hoping they will open up. Thoughts?

Really??? I would imagine that Disney is going to need time to clean up and get up and running again. I think you should wait. If you are in Florida and just drive up to Disney, why not wait until things are normal again.

I am sorry what news are you looking at?
SO the parks and the airport just closed down because they wanted to?
NO school tomorrow just to give kids a day off?
NO one going to work tomorrow because they just wanted to give us all a day off?
Look at the news and know this is for real the eye can go right over Orlando if the hurricane moves to the west more!
I live less then a hour away and we are getting wind and rain right now!
we have been giving info on the Hurricane yesterday and today and I'll be on until I don't have power because I would hope someone that lived by Disney would let me know whats going on....

There's a curfew in Orange County until (edit) 7am on Saturday. That means no driving, too. So, no.

OKAY ................ 2 days of watching all this stuff,
now seeing the prediction is not looking good for my home

I really need to turn off my swirling head a few hours.
Heading to TRIVIA where I am not allowed to use my phone even.

I'll be back ... trying to help distracts all my angst over my home.
Get to your spot, hunker down and try to chill.
Be back later :wave2:

I have to wonder how many people talking about price gouging are actually here?

We want to stay safe, have food and honestly it's not that expensive and going to the store just isn't an option.

We just got a flashlight from a CM who was coming door to door.
