Thanks everyone for the prayers. If Gustav keeps on the projected path, we will really need them.
I'd like to add my prayers to everyone who will have effects from Gustav.
Everyone from Galveston to Mobile needs to keep paying attention because Gustav is getting very big and very powerful. He's getting to a size that enables him to plow through any high. He's also wobbled a bit and if the wobbles continue, the projected path is out the window.
No one should kick back and relax at this point. Prepare, don't panic!

WWL TV met said the high that was to move Gustav more in a westerly moverment would not be happening so everyone now really needs to pay attention. The model runs should move more to the east.
please everyone take precautions stay safe
My family and I are staying. As far as I know there has never been a mandatory evacuation of our AREA EVER. Most of the people from Livingston on here are from what we call Upper Livingston parish and we are far from the Amite River. Lower Livingston floods when someone tinkles in their back yard and sometimes if rain lasts for days they will evacuate the lower area. If we lived in a mobile home I for sure would be moving to a more stable shelter, but not leaving the area.
I would imagine the reason for there never being an evacuation for our area, is we are no where near open water so there will be no issue with storm surge what so ever. Not that we dont ever have problems from wind damage, but by the time storms get to us usually the strength is knocked down a bit. We are at least an hour from Lake Ponchatrain and New Orleans , also prob 2 hours from Vermillion Bay area.
If there ever comes a day that we have a problem with storm surge or a hurricane is still Cat 4 by the time it hits us .. .God help us all!!!
How far are you away from the coast?
I live right outside of Baton Rouge, in a lil suburb. We are no where near the coast thank goodness.
Hi, we live in Thibodaux. My brother lives in BR and we're going there tonight.
Not far from the projected landfall but at least not on the bayou.
However, my sons-24 and 32 refuse to leave town. We have the generator set up because they want to stay at our house. I'll be on pins and needles until the storm has past.
