Hurricane Gustav (forcast models in first post) Be safe those in the path!

WOOOOO HOOOOOO MY POWER IS ON.

BUT BOO HOO, we are to leave for WDW on Wed, looks like I may be canceling a trip! DAMN IKE! We desperately need a vacation.

My SIL and I brought the kids to Mississippi for the weekend. We have a generator at home but that's it for power. Last night's news reported no electricity for Lafourche or Terrebonne until October 1.:scared1:

We got our power back this morning. We had a tree branch come in through our roof and push down though the ceiling in the kitchen...while we were eating lunch! It was 3 or 4 feet away from where I was sitting and was a bit scarry. But we're all safe and unhurt. We waiting in line for a tarp to put on the roof to keep the water from leaking in the house. It was pretty hot during the day and a couple of nights were a bit rough to sleep but we came out of this pretty well.

I have a friend that got hit worse, their home is torn up and they can't live in it. They are in the process of seeing what the insurance covers and getting everything out so they can save some of their things.

Thanks for all the prayers!

:thumbsup2

Nothing to compare with any of your experiences, but here in NE Louisiana we are still battling water.

We got a LOT of rain in our area, I think I heard up to 20 inches.

Many roads are under water and houses have water in them. School ended up being canceled all week.

Crops were being harvested and many are now ruined.

I thought we were far enough north that we would not have serious problems. Wrong again!

DS and DIL got power back on yesterday. Their only damage was a blow down privacy fence. They live between Oppolosas and Lafayette.

Good luck with getting power back on. Thank God it wasn't much worse.

You know its funny(not in a good way) how like all the news reports stopped about Gustav once it came ashore. "Oh its not a big cat 5 storm with loads of catastrophic damage? Back to the convention then!"

Never mind the fact that the state of LA of was declared disaster area.

I was actually using the websites of local papers in LA to follow along what was happening.
