Hurricane Dorian / WDW Theme Parks Discussion

Yes not in the clear at all, concern for central Florida landfall increasing, mandatory evacuations for west palm beach stating at 1pm

I’m pondering buying a ticket to Monday’s MNSSHP. Either this is genius and no one will be there or this is stupid ... thoughts?

I’d wait until tomorrow to see what’s going on. I doubt it will be sold out, so you shouldn’t have a problem buying a last minute ticket. I’m assuming they have same-day ticket sales.

At ak now, looks like a regular ak crowd but definitely less than regular holiday weekend crowd
That’s how it was yesterday afternoon in Epcot. Super light crowds for the first Saturday of F&W. Crowds definitely picked up by early evening. No parks for us today and we’re literally going minute by minute and ready to leave it if needed. We never unpacked our suitcases. It’s a roller coaster for sure.

We still haven’t decided 😕 Dh doesn’t want to leave and none of our neighbors have left either. There have been random gusts of wind and rain already which might make driving to Orlando dangerous.
I wouldn't base decisions on neighbors. That said, there are pluses and minuses to staying or going. If you're staying, please make sure you're set with the usual tropical weather preparations.
Sometimes having a few card or board games around help pass the time. And don't forget chocolate. :flower2:

That last slight shift has put Orlando back into the possibility cone. It’s important to remember that the centre line in these cones is just a middle line... anywhere inside the cone & you need to be very vigilant. While technology & science make weather forecasting much easier, and often more accurate/reliable.. Mother Nature can screw up even the best technological forecast with a wobble, increased steering pressure, or the pull of a full moon. (think Andrew, Michael, Katrina, Irma...)

My heart is with those in the Bahamas today & for the next 36/48 hours as this storm is over them. Godspeed, stay safe.

Next update from the NHC is at 11am. watches & warnings should start for Florida then.

Dh is convinced we should stay and he usually is right but I just don’t know with this storm. It’s massive and that’s what scares me

So much uncertainty!!

We leave at 8am on Wednesday!!!

Watching the hurricane track every hour as we're driving right down I-95 through the Carolinas and Georgia to get to Florida :scared1:

Sounds like you guys are going to be driving right through all the worst parts. Regardless of the hurricane path, you are going to be in the worst part. Are you sure that is a good idea?

Whatever you decide, teamwork is a good thing. Being as prepared as you can really helps.

Look at it this way...if the MK closes, you get your money back. The only question is, would you do it if it were raining? If not, I wouldn't. If so, you're not risking anything. My guess is there's no hurry to decide. I would be anything it's not going to be a sell out. Personally, I would not. Parties are expensive- I don't want to do one in the rain. I'd wait until day of and if by some miracle there was no rain, then I'd buy for sure.

Yeah, and if there's rain, they will cancel the parade. And if the winds are high, they will cancel the fireworks.

Trust me - you do not want to be there as this thing hits. The storm surge is going to be huge with this thing whether it hits land or not - worse if it hits of course. Don't be one of those that will need to be rescued. It's safer to get out now than it will be as it gets closer.

This storm is so massive and powerful, it could absolutely blow right through any and all of the model predictions. If you're anywhere within that cone, don't let your guard down. This is currently the most powerful hurricane in the last 27 years. Anything can happen.

You're risking a lot if you get stuck in Orlando for Tuesday and/or Wednesday. If this thing keeps shifting west and keeps up its intensity, everyone is going to be getting the heck out of dodge. Even as far inland as Orlando.

I live in Orlando, and drove up to FL Panhandle on Friday.

I was supposed to have a friend in the panhandle drive down on Wed for park day on Thurs. As of now we're still planning on driving down, but keeping a very close eye where the storm will be.
