Hurricane Dorian / WDW Theme Parks Discussion

Ok no one has to worry about Dorian!!! I am sitting here at Poly waiting for ME to airport...since I am leaving 2 days early the Hurricane will most definitely turn and go out to sea and the weather here at Disney will be beautiful. If I was staying I would be spending next few days in a room watching the rain through the window!

After living thru hurricane Charlie at the Wilderness Lodge it just now dawned on me, why we could not stay in our room for 3 more days till MCO openend back up.
We were told the resort was booked out.................
I thought they were lying to us...............with the airport being closed and roads, well some roads having trees and power lines down, who could get in?

The locals that are without power and Floridians that evacuated their homes booked the resort as to have a safe place to stay with power and other services.
And some just needed a place to stay till the were permitted back home.

Saying that I hope all are able to attain safe refuge, and prayers to all for safety.

Thanks for letting me share.

I have family getting in to Orlando on 9/13 and we arrive on 9/14. None of us intend to cancel due to Dorian right now. I have every confidence that it will have moved northward and exhausted itself by then. But I am watching a “disturbance” that has formed off of the coast of Africa which has the potential to have an effect on the weather in this hemisphere in 10 days or so.

We arrive the 24th and I'm keeping my eye on that one too. I always watch for these things on the rare times we have a trip scheduled in the fall. It's way the heck out there right now, hopefully it will never amount to anything.

This boy keeps shifting just slightly to the West... it’s gonna be a crapshoot as to where he eventually goes. Crazy.

Hasn't really shifted that much west.. Just a tick. And even the gfs and euro models have it a tick more east. I do think all of South FL still needs to prepare for the worst

With that big buzzsaw right next to the coast, I’d continue to worry until it actually turns and heads up. All of Florida.

Prepare and hope. Good thoughts.

We’ve stayed there before but it was 2 years ago. I was going to book a studio but it was gone when I went to checkout. I plan to ask if they can give us a microwave for the room because we have so much food with us

Can you bring your own microwave? Like is yours at home a plug in model that just sits on the counter? Otherwise you may want to grab a cheap one from Walmart on the way over?

We cut our trip short and left. Driving up 75 now. TONS of emergency vehicles driving south, linesmen, Oklahoma search and rescue, national guardsmen, fuel trucks. If youre driving up 75 it’s clear and moving quickly.

Disney springs this AM and early afternoon was very light with crowds. Yesterday they were still removing outside construction things in front of epcot, resorts are packing up chairs from around the pools and such.

Local news had evacuations of some retirement community nearby. It’s really a crap shoot as to what Orlando area will get. The peace of mind by leaving is worth our missed days. Don’t underestimate the stress of going literally minute by minute while watching and waiting.

I'm flying from Philadelphia this Thursday night around 8. I'm wondering if they may change flights for the northeast later in the week. Perhaps I should get packed earlier than my usual day-of routine just in case I need to make a hasty trip to the airport.

Hey, I thought WE were the ones that did that! :) (Waiting now at O'Hare for our flight to Michigan.)

I am scheduled to arrive 9/7, and wasn't worried during the original track that had it hitting this weekend. At this point I know the hurricane will be long gone by 9/7 but I'm a little worried about the possibility of MCO closing/how long it will remain closed if it does. At this point I still think I'm fine, but if this storm slows down anymore, then I may have to move up the entire vacation by a day. Luckily DVC has some availability as does my airline. lets just hope it stays that way.
