Hurricane Cruise?

I am glad you posted this! We cruised on the Magic double dip in Sep 2008. we endured hurricane Floyd Gustav and Irene I believe they were called on our 15 day wdw-dcl vacation. Prior to boarding the Magic, the rental car company said they were so happy we returned a car because there were cruises docked due to the storm that were unscheduled. Big ships that they had never seen before. I began to be suspicious. Disney boarded and sailed into the storm despite the Carnival and RCCL sailings being canceled in the same seas. I was scared but no trip insurance so off we went. My son got sea sick as did many others despite the Bonnie we started three days earlier and the sea bands. We missed mdr dinner the first night. The pool emptied of water due to rocking of the ship. We felt like the ship was on its side. The pool was closed most days. We missed a stop at castaway cay but were not compensated. In Nassau, the waiter said there was no way our ship was leaving port in the storm as the next hurricane was an hour at most from hitting. Well, we left and on-time too.

I feel terrible for those on that fantasy cruise. That was worse than ours. That damage is incredible.

In summary, I do think that the time and money are more important to dcl then potential risks.

However, we are trying a cruise again in 2014 on the fantasy but never again in hurricane season.
