Hunny even my socks smell like Disney! ~ "relaxing" Sept 2010 trip!1/24/11 RACE TIME!

Fisher-Price or Playskool? :rotfl2:

It looks like he couldn't find a tree nearby.

That guy must really need some alone time to bring a fishing rod all the way to WDW and fish during a beautiful day at POP! :rotfl: though there were a TON of fish biting, but they were too heavy to lift on that rod :lmao:

:rotfl2: That kid does look like he may be using the fountain as a potty!!

I think ill let you finish my report from the race part and on...since I didnt take good notes and I am blanking!!

YAY I am so glad you are still here :goodvibes Though sad your TR is over :sad2:

Thank you for all of the compliments :goodvibes

Thank you :cutie:

That is so cool, it really is such a small world (I can hear the song in my head now :rotfl:) I am all signed up for 2011, its on my birthday weekend, are you doing it next year?? I have to meet my fellow Richmond DISer :goodvibes

I have ran with my Future SIL and we have already talked about running again this year. We need to sign up because I need motivation to run. :cheer2:
I would LOVE to complete one of the Disney marathons. Props to you! :worship:

Thats the only way I stay motivated - by signing up for races!! The Disney ones are a LOT more pricey than the others I have done, but pretty much worth it :goodvibes

Just a quick life update...I wanted to tell anyone reading this that if Disney on Ice - Princess Classics is in your area - GO!!! :goodvibes My mom has been taking me to Disney on Ice events as long as I can remember...and in the last few years we have revived this tradition!! This year my mom suprised me with awesome, right on the ice, tickets to Princess Classics!! It was amazing - all the princess stories I read and movies I watched growing up :lovestruc we had a GREAT time!!

Here are a few pictures - from my awful cell phone - can't believe we forgot the camera!! At least you can see how close we are to the action, I have a crappy old phone with no zoom :lmao:

That's so awesome! I've wanted to do Disney on Ice since I was a kid, and we never got to go. I think I may make the effort!

Hi! I haven't abandoned your TR, I'm just taking forever getting caught up! Your last update was great, though! I've never even considered going to the WWoS, it looks great! :thumbsup2

Love your pictures of Pop! It looks like such a great resort, I'd love to stay there someday! Those people fishing are funny...you're at Disney and that's what you choose to do???? :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about the race! My goal for next year is to be able to run a 5K...hopefully one day I can work my way up to a marathon or something!

You went to Disney on Ice! I wanted to go! That was a great surprise gift from your mom and you had fantastic seats! :dance3:

You need to go at least once!

Im glad you are still here :goodvibes I know how busy December is and they are now calling for snow here today :scared1:

I know, why waste your time fishing at WDW of all places!!

5ks are great to start with...that way if you feel too tired just walk it and it wont take too long to finish!!

You went to Disney on Ice! I wanted to go! That was a great surprise gift from your mom and you had fantastic seats! :dance3:

I know I was soooo excited...that is our tradition as well as watching the Disney parade today!!

Can't wait to hear about your race experience. Great report so far!!!!

Thank you :cutie: I promise to finish up my report next week after all of the family visits we have to do this weekend!!!

Happy Holidays everyone!! Hope that you have a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends :santa:

Shannon, Merry Christmas to you and Lee (I'll catch up on your report later).

After a bit of a Disboards hiatus, I think I'm all caught up now. I can't wait to hear all about your race experiences!

I haven't been to an ice show since we took my niece when she was 10, I think (she is now 15). I don't think I could have talked hubby into it with the "princesses", but one of these years I want to go back.

What a nice day for you and your mom.

We found our way to the expo and took this picture as we entered

We found our way to the end of the expo and TONS of Wine and Dine race merchandise...I bought 2 shirts, a travel mug, and headband which I wore during the race

My favorite shirt I bought has Mickey on the front and says "I did it" and on the back had a complete map with the park icons of the route we took (again couldnt wear this until I finished of course!)

UP NEXT: 13.1 miles...what was I thinking?!?

I had not been following along as much as I would like; I still need to go back and catch up, but I did read this post. I got so excited that someone else was still working on their half marathon trip report.

Then I realized you did the Wine & Dine. I did the Princess. I must find that shirt......:rotfl2:

That expo looks familiar! It was set up and crowded just like the Princess one! The shirts I bought at the expo at both the Princess and Disneyland halves are like that..."I did it!" on the front and the map on the back. I also was hoping I didn't jinx myself by buying it ahead of time! (I kept the receipt until after the race! :ssst:)

The whole "13.1 miles....what was I thinking?!?" has crossed my mind many times too! I can't wait to read about your race experience, especially with it being at night!

Shannon, Merry Christmas to you and Lee (I'll catch up on your report later).

Thank you! Hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas and New Years!! We have been so busy lately!

After a bit of a Disboards hiatus, I think I'm all caught up now. I can't wait to hear all about your race experiences!

I wish I wrote notes after the race, because I am having a hard time remembering the route!!

It was wonderful!! You have to talk Mark into one!

I am still here!! I feel like I fell off the face of the Earth recently and haven't been able to update and finish this report!! I always wondered why it took people forever to finish a TR...now I know life gets in the way :lmao:

:wave2: Still following your report and can't wait to hear about the race!!

Im still here too I promise!!! :goodvibes

Hi! Just finished reading all 12 pages of your TR! It was very entertaining. I probably won't remember everything I meant to comment on, but I do remember the following:

1. Cool baby giraffe picture!
2. Your day at DHS sounded like so much fun. I like your pictures from the Animation Studio. I've got to do that as soon as the boys are old enough.
3. Your dinner at Ohana sounded so perfect. We haven't been to Ohana since 2006 and now I really want to go back!
4. Racing at Disney is very intriguing. I am eager to hear more about how it went.
5. I was also very sad about Lotso being evil. I was afraid all during the movie that he would be, but I was really hoping he would be good, since he is so cute and smells like strawberries. I guess you can smile and smile and be a villain.

I'm here! I started your TR a couple days ago and then came to get completely caught up tonight! I love it so far! I wish I could comment on more but that would be a lot so..

1. love the baby giraffe picture
2. soo jealous that you got to meet the Penguins and Tweedles! Was this pretty close to park closing time?
3. Was excited to read about the Expo a little since I'll be at the one for the half in 3 days! I'm kind of glad DBF and I are flying down separately and I'm going to the EXPO alone so I can shop for stuff without him judging lol! I may get him a shirt too though if he's nice...
4. can't wait to read about the actual race!! I would love to do this race sometime if they continue it but it may be hard to fit into my school schedule...

Happy New Year, Shannon.

Hope that you guys have a wonderful 2011! I think you will if you get to that trip you have semi planned!!

I really do recommend Ohana...we still talk about how great that meal was and how bad we want to go back :goodvibes

I know he really did make quite the villian!! I actually think Toy Story is one of those movies where the sequels worked just as great as the first!

YAY! :welcome:

Meeting the Penguins and Tweedles was right before park closing...and it was empty in there...just perfect!
I really wish I could have shopped at the Expo alone...I mean no offense to DBF, but I am one to shop on my own stress free!!

So Saturday night I woke up from my nap around 6 pm and got ready pretty quickly. I was out to the buses and decided the best way to get to WWoS was to take a bus to Epcot. Let me explain really quickly that POP wasn’t one of the resorts with transportation directly to the race and you couldn’t park or take a cab to WWoS directly either. So my plan was bus to EPCOT – race bus to WWoS. I was so paranoid Lee wouldn't find his way to EPCOT for the after party and to meet me at the finish.

When I got on the POP bus to EPCOT there were only a handful of others on it and they were all going to the race as well…what luck! At least I wouldn’t get lost all alone. I recognized the guy across the bus from me from the DISboards (FireDancer) and he recognized my shirt (disboards name on the back)

shirt2.jpg

When we arrived at EPCOT none of the CMs seemed to know about the half marathon or where to go (this was the theme of the half marathon). So the group of us where off…myself…FireDancer…2 girls (friends running together)…and a couple going to watch their friends race. Obviously I am horrible with names!!

We went past the entrance to EPCOT and saw a large group of people heading out to the parking lots…well lets try that! We found lots of tour buses lined up and we got on one pretty quick, even though there was a huge crowd forming. I am so glad I ran into the people I did on my way, they helped to entertain me and get rid of race jitters. When we pulled up to WWoS we wished each other good luck and I was off to find someone else from the DISboards – wdwprncess77. I found her in this crowd (sorry its dark)

IMG_2140.jpg

I snapped a picture of the Welcome sign they had up for us…this is where the bag drop off was. I had Lee meeting me with whatever I needed at the end and I ran with my phone/camera/and GU (energy gels) in a running waist pack. I am SOOO glad I didn't have a bag to drop off...this proved trouble for people at the finish

IMG_2141.jpg

We were trying to meet a large group of women from the DISboards at the globe area at WWoS…but they were running late. We took a few pictures and we filled up our water bottles.

IMG_2142.jpg

After about 20 minutes of waiting, we decided to head back towards the crowds and wdwprncess77 snapped a picture of me in front of the Wine and Dine cardboard cutouts

IMG_2144.jpg

Thankfully we ran into another lady I had been talking to on the boards – bounceliketigger (by the way this has fueled my excitement to meet DISers!!) We took a group picture in front the port o potties (how appropriate)
IMG_2146.jpg

Bounceliketigger was off to Corral B (faster people) and wdwprncess77 and I were off to Corral D – the slow people or people who didn’t have a qualifying time to get into another Corral. Here is the mob around us lined up ready to start, we had to be lined up by 9:30 and the race started at 10 pm.

IMG_2148.jpg

Typically in every race that I have participated in they let the first Corral go and then have a 5 or so minute window and let the next Corral go. This wasn’t the case. They did some fireworks which I couldn’t see and said some encouraging words I couldn’t hear (not exactly the magic I pictured) and we shuffled to the start line. I was still very excited to be running in WDW!!

Here is my view of the start sign

IMG_2150.jpg

Nice, huh? Well as went over the start line, my friend dropped her iPod and was obviously freaked out. I tried to help her find it, but she waved me on after a few seconds. It was already a rough start!! Thankfully she did find it. As I was running the first mile I realized even though I have already gone potty numerous times, I had to go again!! That is not a good way to start!

Here is mile 1…very exciting..well actually a little boring this mile just took us out of the WWoS complex and out onto Ocesola Parkway. Each mile marker had a country (I think :rotfl:) and featured food and drink items on it. The time displayed on the marker is not my time, since I started way in the back, we had tags on our shoes to clock when we crossed over the start and finish mats.

IMG_2155.jpg

Up Next: Well more race!! Hopefully I make it past mile 1 and find a potty!!
