Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

andiepie, I hope the damage is easily repaired and I am most sincerely glad that you and your family escaped unharmed. When it storms somewhere I always worry about my DIS, and other, friends.

Hi andiepie! I'm so glad to know that you and Senora Crankypants and everyone else is OK. I hope the damage to your home and your neighbors homes isn't too severe and can be repaired quickly. We'll be thinking about you - please keep us posted.

Thanks for your concerns! I really appreciate it. :thanks: :goodvibes

It's all repairable, and on its way. Shingles blown off our roof, trees down, fences down. I have friends who live in Jackson, TN and in Hardy, AR. It's much worse there, so I'm not worried about us. Besides, the cat didn't flip out, so I knew we'd be ok. She's a little cat psychic. She always tells when it's gonna be bad. We feel blessed to have gotten through it with what we did. But very happy that this week is over.

That looks like great pattern! It almost looks like Mike & Sully from Monsters Inc.

I am currently making a Mickey silouette head quilt that I designed. I am hoping to finish in the next few months. I'll e-mail you a picture when I am done.

I actually helped the MIL pick it out a few years ago as a joke for Jay's brother (she wanted to make him something silly for his 30th birthday). I just love the pattern because it's so whimsical and she finally got the hint after about four years and made one for us.

I'd love to see your quilt when it's finished. I am totally not creative when it comes to doing things with my hands and I don't have enough patience to sew, but I admire the skill and precision of you fine quiltmakers out there!

I was thinking about it......then we can just stumble back upstairs, no busses necessary!

That's the best kind of Disney dinner ... not having to worry about transportation!

:sad2: So much for Ron. At lease we'll have "Benda's" reviews to look forward to.

Dare I ask what happened to Ron? It looks like he's been swallowed by hot pink cotton candy. :confused3

I so dearly love Sangria...but it does need to come in a pitcher and not a piddly little carafe that should only be seen at IHOP locations...it certainly is not the appropriate receptacle for something so yummy! That Sangria looked pretty good too!!! Was it sugary and flavor-y or did it taste appropriately of red wine and the fruit slices that should have been bobbing happily within its red wine depths?

*ahem*

Oh Campbell ... you kill me! And I hope that you and your family are doing OK after Tuesday's storms. As for the sangria ... it was actually very good, not too sweet, and actually whiny, I mean wine-y tasting. I think you'd like it!

My oh my I am hungry. The pictures of the flat bread had me drooling in a very unladylike fashion. Strangely my husband wasn't at all surprised to find me drooling in front of the computer...which is alarming in and of itself...

I did NOT drool over the olive laden dipping plate...olives are ucky and should only be worn on the fingers of young children during holiday meals that generally involve turkey. I do like hummus...but only if it's regular chickpea hummus and not mixed with weird flavors...like lemon...which actually tastes like a chickpea cupcake icing...which just does NOT work!

Rule #1: never read food porn when hungry
Rule #2: never drool near the computer
Rule #3: I forget

Flatbread - very good; hummus - yummus; olives - disgusting.

OH and that dessert plate...heaven heaven heaven...I am now rethinking my culinary excursion routes for our summer pilgrimage to the World! Even though I have this "thing"...about the board walk...it's a little weird...but my husband and I had our final meal of our honeymoon trip at the Yachtsman steakhouse two years ago...and we were really bummed...and we did NOT enjoy the YSH in the slightest...and those feelings of ick have clung...so now when we try to go that direction when we are at Disney, I get anxious...seriously...I do. We were trying to get to Beaches and Cream last summer and the curse of the "Final Meal" kicked in and suddenly the kids got cranky, I got a nosebleed and my husband's naturally sweet demeanor vanished and he cursed...TWICE!:scared: I'll tell you what, we turned right around we did! Which allowed Rhyme and Reason to Reign once more...:confused3 Creepy-dee if you ask me!

what were we talking about?

I'm so confused...

must be that bedtime xanax kicking in...

OH yes...and the kicker is...that we ended up staying an EXTRA day b/c of the hurricane...Ernesto was his name...and we frolicked in near complete soggy isolation around MK while it was "hurricane-ing" and Buffalo Bills was actually our last meal...or was it Pizza delivered from room service? Anyhow...YSL wasn't even the last meal we ate...which means we SHOULD be able to brave the boardwalk and make it to Spoodles!!! YAY!!! I finally got to the point!!!

xanax makes me a little garrulous...I love that word...

:cool1:

okay...xanax induced drooling has replaced the food induced drooling which means it's nighty night time for moi!!!

OH and ack, I've been waiting for the VIRUS to rear its ugly little head. I knew it was coming, but y'all were having so much fun I thought perhaps you were kidding for dramatic effect!

I can't WAIT to hear what happens next!!! (in a non creepy and totally sympathetic way of course!)

STOP TYPING CAMPBELL...STOP STOP STOP...

:faint:

Lessee ... dessert was delicious! You and your Jay should go to Spoodles on your next trip and defy the dining Gods and odds. And unfortunately, the virus is a reality that still makes me sad today. Waaaaaaaaaaah!!! :sad1:

I love this! Dancing chicken and singing toe beer. You are so funny!:rotfl2: I took some friends to a japanese sushi place Friday night - you inspired me. We felt a little lost. What is sashimi? We ended up ordering Crunchy Shrimp Rolls and Tempura - it was all very good and beautifully presented.

I want to go to the F & W festival. Not sure I will ever convince my DH. Can I just go with you guys next time?

I still can't remember the difference between sashimi and the other types of sushi - it's got something to do with the manner of preparation (I think). But good for you for trying something new - I'm glad you liked it!

We'll be at the F&W Festival from October 17th-Ocotber 23rd, 2009... come on down and join the food fun!

Still loving all the reviews and a little nervous about the upcoming 'sickness' post.:lmao:

Glad you're enjoying them so far. I'll try not to get too graphic when it comes to the virus visitation. ;)

Brenda - you didn't mention who licked the hummus bowl, just wondering. Anyway great review as always. Can you post another picute of the quilt up close. I love quilts.

We declared a tie and shared the hummus leavings by running bread along the inside of the bowl and then feeding it to each other. Isn't that just sickeningly loverlike? :lmao:

Thanks as always for reading. And I'll try to get some additional pictures of the quilt posted this weekend.

You people actually have family members who support your Disney obsession???

Mine just want to have me committed.... ;)

Mine just want to take our vacation club points. :lmao:

Oooh I'm looking forward to your breakfast at Kona review!! We LOVED dinner at Kona when we went, so we are trying breakfast and dinner this time

The Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes look delish

Hi there Hayley! Breakfast at Kona is a must for us on every trip - it's always a great meal. But we've never tried the pancakes (I don't like macamadamia nuts). Jay always orders the tonga toast ... always.

I am using this as a double duty post... first, to thank you for a delightful TR (which will easily subscribe me to this thread!) and secondly to comment on the lack of teapots at your tea party. My family does an annual F&W trek in October and we were there about the same time you and Jay were there. We stayed at the BC and made the 2007 trip into an extended family reunion.

Since I love it so much, one of the things I planned for the girlies on the trip was tea at the Grand. My sister, SIL, both DDs and I were there (I think) the day after you and Jay were! At our table, two ordered herbal tea infusions and the other three of us had black teas. The herbal teas came in the pressed pots but the black teas were in the lovely teapots with cozies. Our server told us that they were serving the herbals in the pressed pots for the very reason you were given. So, I have to assume that if you want the "damned pot and cozy" you will either have to ask for it specifically or order one of the black teas. :goodvibes I tried to find a picture, but all of them were taken pre-tea delivery. All that is on the table is the cups and the bubbly!

Welcome to the food fun and thanks for reading! I hope if you happened to run across Jay and me during your trip that we were on our good behavior - we had a couple of surly moments during this trip which is really unusual (I blame Norway). Thanks for the info on the french press / teapot scandal, which I had to refrain from calling Teapot Dome. :rotfl2: I guess the next time we have afternoon tea I'm going to have to ask for the teapot ... one of the only ways I can get through all of that glorious food is to have chamomile tea (I'm really not supposed to have as much caffeine as I already do so I pretend to be good by ordering herbal tea).

I am enjoying reading your TR and intend to continue until you are done. You might spark the muse in me to do one for our next trek. DH and I are going in September/October sans DDs (aged 21 and 29) and are planning to use the Deluxe Dining Plan to gorge on signature restaurants and his favorite BIG breakfast buffets. After your report on Bistro we might have to look into an OOP dinner there too. Thanks for the chuckles and the insight!

Thank you so much for your kind words - I hope you enjoy the rest ... there's still a lot to come. And please let me know if you do create your own dining review after your next trip - I'd love to read it. Gorging on signature restaurants ... you've planned our dream trip. :lovestruc

Loved the Spoodles review and pictures! I love pistachio ice cream and we had some really good pistachio gelatto at Tutto Italia I think you would have liked, Brenda; there weren't any actual nuts in it that I remember!

All these pictures are making me hungry and a little sad--I don't know if we're going to have much food budget next trip. We got a little (20%) code in an email and I lost my mind and booked 3 nights at Pop (not the crazy part), and 3 nights at the Grand Floridian (the :scared1: part)! We are not GF budget people. I had a week at WL standard booked that I cancelled. I was almost sick and couldn't sleep after I did it--DH said quit worrying about it, you have 10 months to worry. I hope the other guests of the GF are not embarrassed of us carrying in our Kroger bags of food, snacks, beer.:rotfl: Maybe I'll bring a crock pot!

Thanks for reading - glad you enjoyed our oodles of spoodles! And who cares what other guests at the GF might think? I'd be willing to bet there are plenty of people there who do the exact same thing you're planning on doing. I'm with your DH on this one - don't worry. Just think about what a great time you're going to have - that's all that really matters.

& you've got 10 months to save!!!

Collect all your spare change (mine comes to a couple of hundred every year...)

Take back all your cans if your state gives the deposit...

Ask all your families for gift cards for either Disney or the Visa or Amex kind so you can use it for food, etc...

& my favorite... run a 50/50 at your next big family function and then guilt whoever won into giving you the other half...:rotfl2: (nah...that doesn't work for my family either, but hey.. you never know...)

Read Erica's great Trippie "Geeks on a budget" about her DCL trip and see what kind of tips we gave her there... she did it UNDER budget... (although she fully expects to go into bankruptcy for her next cruise... :rolleyes1 )

I'm not always good at saving money ... I really prefer to spend it even before I have it. But Michelle has posted some great ideas. And I can't echo her enough about Erica's (Zweihund) trip report - it's so funny you'll heehaw like a donkey or my name isn't One-Legged-Bewb-Flashin-For-Freebies-No-Pants-Wearing-Brenda. ;)

Hi, new reader here just discovering the joys of food porn :thumbsup2 . From reading, I understand you and Jay will not be doing another Disney trippie for a while. That's sad, but I'm lucky; I can still read the earlier ones! And Las Vegas would definitely be of interest, as well, if you feel inspired ;) .

Thanks for all the insights and, especially, the chuckles.

Woohoo! Another new reader - thanks for joining the fun! It's true ... no WDW trips this year unless something dramatic happens on the financial front (we have no vacation points to use this year). But knowing me I will have to post something about our Vegas trip. I'm just hoping that neither one of us get sick this time.

Thanks for reading - I'm glad you're enjoying everything so far!

I owned stirrup pants. And neon colored clothing. And those two-toned jeans. Some with the flip down pockets of the other color and/or pattern on them.

But I never owned a pair of Doc Martens aka "Scary Boots". ;)

Stirrup pants - yep; neon clothes - yep; no two-tones or doc martens. I loved the oversized sweaters, though. I still have some that I wear around the house on weekends when it's really cold outside.

Ahhh...the memories. How I loved my stirrup pants! I never owned the two-toned jeans, though I always wanted a pair. What was I thinking?! :sad2:

By the way, I did own Doc Martens, and actually still have a pair that I wear sometimes. What can I say? Old habits die hard. :rotfl:

I'm not sure how we ended up talking fashion on a food thread ... especially my food thread because I'm as fashion-clueless as they come! :lmao:

Everyone is cracking me up with the 80's flashback! I had stirrup pants and slouchy socks. I grew up in a very waspy family and was the only female grandchild so I also had almost everything monogrammed. Thanks grandma! Has anyone see 13 going on 30 with Jennifer Garner? That is what keeps popping into my head right now! :rotfl: I am going to go tease my permed hair and put on my two tone jeans right now!

Oh yeah - the mall hair! Spiral perms! I totally had it!

Stirrup pants, slouchy socks, cardigan sweaters, polos, acid-washed jeans, hundreds of tiny rubber bracelets, my boyfriend's jacket...... had them all, loved them... still miss them... jeans were NOT meant to have wide legs... SHUDDER. :rotfl:

Acid washed jeans ... I loved those the most!

Oh, but you guys are forgetting the "bubble suits" and neon spandex!

Are we forgetting or have we blocked those from memory? :scared1:

Yes ... to both! :rotfl2:

It was not undelicious - love it!

I'm really enjoying your reports. No way my DH will do tea so I love when I can live through someone elses reports - and with pics even better!

thanks again for sharing

Thanks for reading - I'm glad you're enjoying our reviews!

I actually convinced my non-tea drinking DH to go to tea with me by showing him pictures of the food. I do have to say though, that unless the food is the best he's ever tasted, this will probably be the only time I get to do tea until I can convince my future child to come along when he/she is old enough.:rotfl:

Good for you! I'm happy to hear your DH is willing to try afternoon tea at least once. Be sure to come back and let the rest of us know what he thinks ... and you as well. Although it's usually safe to assume that we ladies are going to enjoy tea. ;)

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Oh, Bendy, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind! Hey, bendy!

I'm never going to get that song out of my head now ... thanks so much Paige! :rotfl2:

And now it's stuck in my mind too Sistah P.:rotfl2:

Yeah, what Mother Goose said! :lmao:

Thanks for your concerns! I really appreciate it. :thanks: :goodvibes

That sounds like good news. :thumbsup2

Our cat pays no attention to the weather - we've had some pretty rough stufff move thorugh since we've been in this house (you know - you're in tornado alley just like us) and he just yawns through it all. I sometimes think it's a male thing. Jason can sleep through tornado sirens going off in the middle of the night. I usually end up having a mild coronary event when I hear a siren and can't get back to sleep for hours.

Anyway, I digress. Just very glad to know that you are all OK. :flower3:

I was going to say much the same thing to you about our crowd! If you and Jay used the walkway between Epcot and BC that eventually leads you around to the side entrance to BCV you very well may have seen my rowdy bunch. We had four adjoining rooms on the ground floor back there and spent a lot of time (all 8 of us) giggling like teen aged girls and continuing our F&W festivities. We were a jolly bunch, not surly. So we would have made you and Jay say "HI" to us if you passed by. ;)

Thank you so much for your kind words - I hope you enjoy the rest ... there's still a lot to come. And please let me know if you do create your own dining review after your next trip - I'd love to read it. Gorging on signature restaurants ... you've planned our dream trip. :lovestruc

I am looking forward to reading the rest of your TR, Brenda. I think, if I am looking ahead correctly, that we were at the same Party for the Senseless on October 20. I had initially thought about getting together with some of the DISers who were posting on a thread back then, but it turned out that my DDs and I met up with another DISer instead and I decided not to overwhelm my offspring with even more strangers who knew all about their young lives. :rotfl:

I have started my first-ever pre-TR. I know that the lot of you will wonder and ponder but we find there are too many signature restaurants we want to try or revisit. We don't have enough TS credits on the DlxDDP! And we are only planning 2 meals a day. The link to my pre-TR is in my signature if anyone is interested. Possibly you all have help me whittle down our choices! ::yes::

I wish they'd go back to an all tapas menu - I think that would be very appealing.

Yes. And the tapas went really well with Sangria. And I think they even used a real pitcher back then, too!

Since we weren't in a hurry to be anywhere it made it easier to wait for a table. And we figured if we couldn't get in that we'd just keep walking and try something new over at the Swolphin. Poor Todd English ... he's just going to have to wait for another trip before he can try to dazzle us with his menu.

I have the same Todd English problem. This trip I sacrificed Todd for Raglan Road. Next time for sure I'll visit bluezoo.

It was very tasty indeed ... worth every overpriced penny. I think they charged us about $17 for the pseudo-pitcher of Sangria. And I like Booze Quota ... :thumbsup2

That's quite a pricey way to get your BQ! :)

I don't really like oranges or orange-flavored things ... especially dessert. All I ever taste is the orange. And don't get me started about how the smell of freshly peeled oranges turns my stomach and makes the gastric juices churn. BLECH!!!

I like oranges, but not usually in desserts, either. And I thought I was the only person who doesn't like those "chocolate orange" things. I don't think chocolate and orange go together. Bleh.

Ok... now Brenda...you're going to have to be creative with Jay...(yeah, I know that's hard...) and think about it... granted it would mean staying at probably a value...(maybe a moderate...) but you suffer for your craft don't you??? (sometimes literally, I know...)

Think Free Dining... it's a possiblility... don't you think that if you could get in on free dining if they offer it again, maybe you could trade what you would normally spend on food for accomodations and still get to go to WDW and entertain us with yet, another WONDERFUL TR????

:worship: :worship: :worship: (Oh... Pretty please...)

Then we'll just start a fund for your sangria and you'll be set...

I know I'm coming in on this bit a little late...but I just wanted to share that by the time I was old enough to even know what Doc Martens were, they were being worn by the likes of Donna Martin and Kelly Taylor in everyone's FAVE zip code 90210!!!

I had a patent leather pair that were a super shiny cherry red...I got them when I was in Ireland!!! Where I also had to purchase a green pair...b/c we were in Ireland...after all...my family was totally offended!:lmao:

I also had a fabric covered pastel pink pair covered in flowers...ummm...and several black pairs...one with laces, one zip up and another lace pair but not the regular ones...they had a really cool wing tip looking style to them!!!

I was way into Docs...I still wear them to work on days I know that I will be working with kids who like to stomp on toes!

and I distinctly remember a pair of parachute pants that I wore to kindergarten...they were lavender!:lmao:

i was soooooo cool!!!!:cool2:

& I was a size 12 then... :rolleyes1

Then my food obsessioin kicked in...

& my Chocolate one...

& put me in the corner with a good loaf of crusty Italian bread and I'm happy...

Friday, October 19th - Would You Still Order Tonga Toast if You Knew it Might Kill You?

Friday morning dawned hot and steamy ... again. Little did we know but this would be the last worry-free meal of the trip. Although, now that I think about it there were things that happened during this meal that I probably should have been more concerned about: wrong plates of food showing up...pressed coffee that just didn't taste right...strange containers of neon-colored "sauce" being delivered.

Yes...now that I reconsider, breakfast at the Kona just didn't have the same comfortable "welcome back" feeling that we usually get when dining there. They were definitely busy - much busier than we expected them to be at 9:30 in the morning. And there were some very cranky people demanding a table even though they hadn't made a reservation. And the poor CM manning the welcome counter was obviously new and very much afeared of the menacing computer system she was being asked to work with. Despite all this we were seated fairly quickly and settled in at our table with a sigh of relief.

Thanks anyway, but we don't need no stinkin' menus - we always order the exact same thing when we're here.

First up: A pressed pot of Kona Koffee!

This is what a French press is supposed to be used for...
260.jpg

Maybe it was the weather, but this koffee just didn't taste as good as I remember it tasting on previous visits. It was still better than the usual swill that Disney pawns off on us as real coffee, but it just didn't have the flavor that I've grown accustomed to with Kona Koffee.

Jay always orders a glass of Likoi juice with his koffee. The juice is a blend of passion, guava, and orange juices and he loves the stuff. I think it's vile but I'm also the one with a McDonald's addiction, so perhaps my opinion doesn't count.

Wake up sleepyhead, your pucker potion is here!
261.jpg

For eating Jason ordered the Tonga Toast, which is his very favorite dessert, uh I mean breakfast, ever. I usually order the French toast because other than a giant Mickey waffle, that's my favorite vacation breakfast choice. Imagine our surprise when our waitress showed up at our table with a little pitcher of chilled, hot-pink, gelatinous goo and told us that it was something new Kona was offering with the Tonga Toast.

"This is a strawberry compote for you to dip your toast in. We've had it for about a week."

I wonder now, in light of Jay's violent stomach / intestinal struggles during the rest of our trip, if she literally meant that the pitcher of compote had been sitting in the kitchen for an entire week.

It's poison...or is it?
262.jpg

We both tried a little of the compote by itself and thought it was waaaaay too sweet. Once breakfast arrived Jason tried dipping his tonga toast in the compote and said he thought that it was actually pretty good - still sweet but not overpoweringly so (probably because of all the sugar that the tonga toast comes dusted in). He also said he thought the compote's strawberry flavor paired really well with the bananas stuffed inside the tonga toast.

Shortly after the arrival of the compote (or was it compost?) breakfast arrived. Or at least, my breakfast arrived. They tried to give Jason some very strange looking pancake tower that he would obviously never order.

French toast with plump snausages
263.jpg

I'm not complaining with this next statement ... I'm just making an observation. In years past this french toast used to come with six slices of bread rather than the four that are arranged on the plate. I can't even eat all four slices on most days, let alone six, but I just think it's interesting that the price of the breakfast has increased and the portion size has decreased.

As for the food, it was tasty - nothing to knock my socks off, but it's one of those breakfast items that's either good or not - there's rarely a middle ground with French toast. And this was good so I was pleased. The snausages were a little greasier than I prefer and I found myself wishing that I'd just ordered bacon instead. The pineapple slice was given to Jason to tide him over until his real breakfast arrived.

Drumroll please ....

Tonga Toast - breakfast of champions
264.jpg

What is it?

A triple by-pass on a plate. :lmao:

Seriously, what is it?

It's banana-stuffed sourdough bread, deep fried, or maybe flash fried, and then rolled in sugar. If that's not bad enough, it's served with your choice of ham, bacon, or snausage from that most magical of animals: the pig.

Jason loves this stuff. And since he only gets to eat it on vacation at WDW, who am I to deny him this artery clogging taste treat? And how can I even talk about artery clogging food with that arched eyebrow and mocking tone in my cyber-voice when I am addicted to junk food? Why just this past week I ate an entire bag of Lay's potato chips with 16 ounces of French Onion dip - all by myself. Sorry, no pictures. ;)

One of my favorite things to do at Kona is to wander up to their kitchen counter and see what surprises they have. I have seen huge chocolate carvings of dragons in the past and lately it's been Lilo and Stitch.

I come in peace ... one piece!
268.jpg

It's pretty cool, but for some reason every time I look at this I think that Lilo is getting ready to bestow some kind of blessing on the restaurant crowd while her faithful disciple Stitch perches at her feet. Maybe I'm getting too irreverent for my own good in my old age.

They also carve jack-o-lanterns at the Kona for Halloween, and I took a few pictures of those as well.

267.jpg

265.jpg

266.jpg

And so ended breakfast. Really - just like that it ended. Poof - done.

Before I leave you this evening to go gorge on some pepper shrimp I'd like to share one final picture with you. We headed over to Downtown Disney to do some shopping once we finished breakfast and found ourselves in the store that sells all the Disney artwork.

We found a picture of one of Plankton's ancestors!!! If it hadn't cost more than our entire vacation budget we might have bought it for him, but it was too rich for our blood. We did, however, take a picture of the picture. And we felt so sneaky and wrong doing it, especially because we were laughing so loudly that it was very difficult for the store employees to ignore us.

Without further ado... for your viewing pleasure:

Honestly, I'm flattered. :flower3:

But Jay and I can't possibly go to WDW in the fall if it doesn't include a visit to the F&W Festival. It would break our gluttonous little hearts. So I think we're better off just waiting until next year.

But I'll tell you a secret ...

I'm setting up a blog and that's where the Vegas stuff will be posted and any other random little trips that happen this year (and there will be a couple of small trips). So there will be other things to read if anyone is so inclined.

Until then, eat well and prosper! :lmao:

Getting scared waiting for the virus!
Assuming that the Likoi juice is the same one as at 'Ohana, the kids and I love it too.

But I'll tell you a secret ...

I'm setting up a blog and that's where the Vegas stuff will be posted and any other random little trips that happen this year (and there will be a couple of small trips). So there will be other things to read if anyone is so inclined.

Until then, eat well and prosper! :lmao:

Another great installment and if I must confess... mine was Ruffles and a whole bowl of Dill Dip (yes, say that fast and you're in real trouble...) :scared1:

Don't give up on the Fall.... Snack options count at the F&W festival and we'll get the booze covered somehow...;)

Hi, Brenda! Just caught up on your review while I procrastinate on mine!

We ate at Spoodles for dinner and Kona for breakfast for the first time on our trip last month. We enjoyed both. But afternoon tea has got to be one of my favorite things to do at WDW! That whole teapot substitution thing is suspicious, though. I say we hunt down the person who complained about tea leaf floaters and pelt them with tea cozies!

Brenda,

The Plankton portrait is absolutely hilarious! I'll have to make sure to visit the art gallery next time we're there. What do you think the chances are that Planky's ancestor will still be there?

We ate at Kona in December and I tried the Tonga Toast. Can honestly say that the strawberry stuff didn't sound good to me. They brought it out, but it stayed in the little pitcher. DH had the Big Kahuna, which consisted of just about everything on the menu. I didn't try the Kona press pot, but I did have the Kona blend -- much better than the brown water served elsewhere in WDW. Honestly, I just brewed my own the other mornings. It just wasn't worth the walk to the food court to get that stuff.

Sorry to hear about Jay's virus, but hopefully you still had fun the rest of your trip! Can't wait to read about it.

Oh Lays! :lovestruc I love the loaded baked potato chips they have out now. And the new sweet and sour teriyaki. popcorn:: So Good!
And so the mods don't get mad- I loved your Kona review. What's up with the neon pink crap? Not cool. I personally am a little weired out my the Lilo and Stitch. Don't ge me wrong, I LOVE stich. :stitch: (I know I'm in the minority here) But the giant choco characters are just creepy!

Only a triple? :rotfl2:

Sounds fantastic Bendy! Well, everything but the pig. :sad1:

At least you had a reason to skip the Bobaloser roll call. :upsidedow My reasons weren't as worthy. :sad2:

I thought a quadruple by-pass sounded a little too dramatic. Do you disagree?

Tell you what - you can have the tonga toast and I'll take your choice of the pig part.

And I didn't need to skip the weigh in actually. I weighed in this morning at home and my weight didn't change from last week despite the chip'n'dip disaster. There were other things going on this week that came into play - I didn't exercise and I didn't eat well (when I did eat) and I didn't gain or lose. Time to get back to it tomorrow now that I'm starting to feel better.

:lmao: Fantastic as usual B. :thumbsup2

Thanks for reading, Mother Goose - glad you enjoyed it. Isn't that portrait the funniest thing you've ever seen?

Getting scared waiting for the virus!
Assuming that the Likoi juice is the same one as at 'Ohana, the kids and I love it too.

Don't be too scared, be just scared enough. ;) And let me thank you in advance for reading all about it! :flower3:

I know a lot of people love the Likoi juice, but I just can't get my tastebuds around it.

Thanks Michelle! I'm going to pass on your tongue twister or I will feel compelled to tell everyone about our visit to Dick's Sporting Goods this afternoon.

I am looking forward to reading about everyone else's great times at F&W this year after hogging the stage for the last two. :goodvibes

Honeybee30!! Welcome home! Thanks for taking the time to read us while you have your own reviews to work on. I can't imagine that someone would have even complained about the floaties ... I still had them when I used the French Press, so what difference did it really make except to ruin the overall aesthetics of the tea table?

I'm all for pelting the culprit with something, but not the tea cozies ... maybe some of those purple tasting pastires?

Brenda,

Hi Jodi! Don't you love that portrait? We never go into that store, but it was so hot that day that we just wanted a chance to cool off. And we found it hanging near the back of the store with some other artwork that we didn't recognize at all.

I hope it's still there because if you think this picture of it is funny wait until you experience it in person. I heehawed like a drunk donkey ... even Jay was heehawing and that just doesn't happen very often.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that it was the compote that made Jay sick ... or else it tipped him over the edge. He told me that he felt fine before breakfast that morning and didn't start feeling bad until after we made it to DTD. I just wonder ... :confused3

I didn't think it sounded very appealing either, but I guess someone must like it if Kona is still serving it. And I hear ya about the coffee - we usually brewed our own in the mornings, too.

And thanks for the kind words - we did still manage to have a good time even though he wasn't feeling well. Friday was the worst of it, but it was still a factor for the rest of the trip. I just felt so bad for him and there wasn't anything I could do. We've earned a do-over for 2009!

Oh Lays! :lovestruc I love the loaded baked potato chips they have out now. And the new sweet and sour teriyaki. popcorn:: So Good!

Hey Shelley - good to see ya! Believe it or not, I'm not usually a big chip eater, but every now and then I get a monster craving for plain old chips and french onion dip (which is really funny because I don't like onions).

Thank you very much. I personally would not recommend eating that stuff, but everyone needs to try it for themselves - just make sure you don't get the pitcher that's been in the kitchen for a week! :rotfl:

Actually I'd just like to see something new ... I'm a little tired of the whole Lilo and Stitch thing. And I really don't understand why Stitch seems to be everywhere these days. He's a cute character in his way, but please ... Disney ... stop forcing him down our throats.

Thank you!

Anyway ... rant over. Thanks again for reading everyone!! :goodvibes

That Tonga Toast looks heavenly!:cloud9:

Another great one--even Rob was laughing as I read artery clogging part aloud to him.:rotfl:
