thanks for the spoodles review, brenda! you're right....i AM looking forward to it now. i was having my doubts but you changed my mind. just reading about the bread they serve and that flatbread appetizer makes my mouth water. ray and i are probably going to do what you guys did - order stuff to share. only i think we may order shrimp pasta instead of the med. dips because neither of us are big on olives, mustard or hummus and it sounds like that's pretty much what that consists of. and of course the dessert sampler is a must!!!! thanks again!!!!!
Hi Dawn - thanks for reading! Spoodles seems like a great place to share appetizers and make a meal out of it - and we really had a lot of fun eating there. I hope you guys enjoy it and will look forward to reading all about it once you come home!
Looks very yummy! We were going to try there on our last trip but canceled it last minute in favor for some place else.
We'll probably end up trying it this time though, those pictures are great looking.
Definitely give it a try - we were very pleasantly surprised, especially me.
Great review of Spoodles. We just returned from a 10 day trip in late Jan. and I had Spoodles ADRs for the night of 1/27. We also got hit with a virus on our trip (both kids and dh were felled at different points of the trip) and I really thought we wouldn't get to try it. DH was really sick on that day, so I took the kids over to Epcot in the afternoon and thought we would just eat CS somewhere. My normally not that adventurous 6 yo twins made a very sweet gesture and told me that we should go ahead and eat at Spoodles since I had been looking forward to it. I'm getting all verklempt just thinking about it.
We had a great time and our server was so nice. My ds does love hummus, so we got the Dips too. The red one was a curry of some sort according to the server and the other white one was a tzatziki, which I didn't love at first, but then it grew on me. I agree that the feta dip was soooo good. I had the lamb kebobs for an entree. They were a little bland for my taste, but salvaged by using some of the remaining dips to boost the flavor. We were stuffed, so we didn't get dessert, but that picture of the sampler makes me want to go back right now!
Glad you had a nice unplanned experience and I'm looking forward to your next review.
Hi there and thanks for reading! Sorry to hear about your virus attack ... seems like so many people have fallen ill while visiting the mouse lately. And how utterly precious is your 6-year old? I'm getting verklempt just reading your post!
I think of the four dips I liked the hummus best and the feta cheese dip was a close second. Both were very good.
Next time save room for dessert!
Oooh that looks yummalicious
am I allowed to say yummalicious??
Cass my friend, you can say anything you like on this thread as far as I'm concerned. I don't beleive in censorship ... even for words that contain
yum.
Oh and I have to add to your answer to Nancy...I get the WEIRDEST looks when I take pictures of my food. Some people look at me as if I was just taking a picture of a pile of poo
What is WITH that??? Relax people, you're on vacation...mind your own damn business
I'm sure we've been on the receiving end of some strange looks when taking pictures of food, but honestly .... we've gotten the weirdest looks from people when we've been caught posing Plankton for a picture.
Great update Brenda! This review makes me think that we should try breakfast or dinner here.
Can't wait for the Kona report
P.S. I would love to see the quilt! Are you using it or is it one that is hung on the wall? Please share a pic
Thanks for reading - glad you enjoyed it! We've never had breakfast here so I can't recommend it based on our experience, but dinner was great! And I will take some extra pictures of the monster quilt this weekend and try to post them here for you to see.
Spoodles was the sleeper hit of our last trip. I loved the dip sampler. All your olives belong to me.
I had the pleasure of dining at Bouchon at the Venetian when I was in Las Vegas for a wedding last fall. So, so good, I had the mussels in the white wine, mustard and saffron broth served with pomme frites. The homemade bread dunked in the broth.
I just drooled at the memory.
You can have as many of my olives as you want - you don't even need to ask. Just come take them away ... please.
Mmmmm....Bouchon. Many people have mentioned this restaurant ... I will investigate further. I'm going to have to start making reservations soon which means I'm going to have to make a decision.
Now I am definitely considering Spoodles for our next trip - I am pleased that they allowed you to order appetisers and dessert only, as that is what most appeals to me on the menu. That yummy, cheesy flatbread looks delicious!
Joh, I'm sure you'd love the flatbread. It was delicious! And you could stop at the Boardwalk Bakery on your way back to your hotel that evening and pick up something tasty for breakfast the next morning.
Wonderful review dear,no other comments allowed...
Poor Mr. AFEG ... I'm drinking Boddingtons tonight in your honor!
Brenda,
Your fabulous review of Spoodles was just what I needed this morning. I am in a terrible funk after last night's Super Bowl trauma.
I love the drinks/appetizer/dessert plan! Especially when accompanied by oh-so-fabulous bread!

We've only experienced Spoodes for breakfast, and it was just fine, but we've got to get over there for dinner. All your food looks just yummy!
Looking forward to Kona! The best breakfast on property, in my humble opinion!
Hi Lori! Sorry about your post-superbowl depression but if reading one of my goofy reviews made you feel a little better then I'm feeling good!
I can't believe you haven't had dinner at Spoodles - I would have thought for sure that you would have already eaten there. You'd love the Sangria - it's quite tasty!
Kona should be coming up later this weekend ... I'm trying to upload the pictures tonight along with the ones from the Le Cellier F&W pairing.
That flatbread looks very yummy indeed, but is that actually a bit of char I see on the edge? Even if it was, it doesn't sound like it detracted from your enjoyment of it.
You are correct ... the edge was a bit charred. I ate around it because I don't like things that taste like burning be they liquid or solid.
I never thought I cared much for hummus, either, until I had it at a little hole-in-the-wall local place in my town, run by a Lebanese gentleman who apparently learned the art of hummus making at his granny's knee. Oh, my, that stuff is fantastic! I doubt even the Spoodles hummus could compare, but I'm glad it erased the memory of the olive-y stuff for you.
I bet the real deal hummus is mind-blowing - but this was pretty good and helped me ignore the olives until Jay ate them all.
Dagnabit - I thought maybe a spoodle was a cylindrical wooden thing you could wind your leftover noodles aound.
Actually I like your idea better. I really thought Spoodle was a mix of two words, one of them being spool and the other being noodle. But now that I think about that it makes no sense at all and would be very hard to pronounce ... spoolndle ... which explains why I don't work for Disney and don't moonlight creating trendy new names for restaurants.
Thanks for the Spoodles review Brenda! I am thinking of adding it in when we are in the World in December. I'm planning a nice resort hopping day and a meal at Spoodles sounds good. Would you recommend lunch or dinner there? Thanks!
Jennifer! Thanks for popping in to take a read! I would recommend it for dinner only because that's what we had ... I guess it really depends on what resorts you're planning on hopping in and out of that day and whether or not any other restaurants sound appealing. If you're going to be hanging around the Beach Club / Yacht Club / Boardwalk why don't you have lunch at Beaches and Cream and have dinner at Spoodles?
Thanks for the Spoodles report, Brenda, it sounded great, I also fancy the idea of having appetizers and desserts, but I would have never thought to ask (I am British, we don't do stuff like that

) And thank you for letting us know what Spoodles means - I thought it was just a nonsense Disney word.
Laur's
Thanks for reading! And I had to laugh when you wrote that about being British ... some friends that we met last October from England explained to us that being British meant that you never ask for special service of any kind. I thought they were teasing us but now I'm not so sure!
Love Spoodles! We try and eat here whenever we stay at BWV. I was happy to see that the new menu has taken off well. We love their Sangria. Very refreshing.
Hey Shelley! I'd go back just for the hummus and the Sangria ... and next time I want a table right on the Boardwalk.
Great Spoodles report Brenda. I like the idea of drinks and appetizers and of course dessert!
Deb
Hi Deb - thanks for reading! The more I think about it ... the more I'm beginning to believe that the perfect meal is drinks, appetizers, and desserts!
Says you. But then again, the menu probably changed a lot from last I ate there. Back then I could get tapas to share.
I wish they'd go back to an all tapas menu - I think that would be very appealing.
You're way braver than me. Especially post-
DDP. Considering that I had to wait 20 minutes past my reservation at Raglan Road the previous Thursday, I'd say you did very well!
Since we weren't in a hurry to be anywhere it made it easier to wait for a table. And we figured if we couldn't get in that we'd just keep walking and try something new over at the Swolphin. Poor Todd English ... he's just going to have to wait for another trip before he can try to dazzle us with his menu.
Yes, that is most definitely a carafe of Sangria. It looks as tasty as I remember it. And you did not disappoint me in your BQ (Booze Quota. I like it better than LQ, aka Liquor Quotient. We're not testing you in endurance or anything, but Quota works for me, and I'm sticking to it.)
It was very tasty indeed ... worth every overpriced penny. I think they charged us about $17 for the pseudo-pitcher of Sangria. And I like Booze Quota ...
Slap a straw boater hat on him, dress him in pastels, and stick him in the Main Street Barbershop! I swear, once you called him Dapper Dan, that's the image I had immediately.
That's pretty much the image I was going for - he looked like he would have been right at home in a barbershop quartet!
Gimme those olives, woman! I'll take them away from your olive-hatin' self.
You and Andrabell can fight over them.
Mmmmm. The dips are simple and yet satisfying, aren't they? Yum.
Yum indeed!
Again, back in the day (well, around 5 years ago), they had a dessert sampler "tower". We called it, the Tower of Desserts. And they were pretty fabulous. Yours actually look good, but I'd skip the orange thing, too.
I don't really like oranges or orange-flavored things ... especially dessert. All I ever taste is the orange. And don't get me started about how the smell of freshly peeled oranges turns my stomach and makes the gastric juices churn. BLECH!!!
Egad, the virus that leveled Jay at forty paces? And on your food and wine pairing day at Le Cellier, too. Bad timing for stomach ailments!
Yes ... the very virus. I still think the dining gods were mocking us ... me in particular. To wait until the first of four F&W events and then to knock him down with a stomach bug ... that's just cruel and unusual punishment. And
he's the nice one of the two of us.
Oh well ... that just means we get a do-over in 2009!!!
