Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

Enjoying your updates Benda.:goodvibes With food being my addiction of choice you'd think I'd be salavating over all those pictures but you know me all too well. I'm the dessert girl. Thanks for pleasing this dessert junkie with your more than usual dessert pics! :thumbsup2

As soon as I read "Benda" I was thinking maybe you'd like to join my Stacy in Karen's "Bendy" club.

Ahhhhh, to be 5'8" and to be able to bend like that! :worship:
(Hope I didn't cross the line posting a pic on your thread B.)

You could be "Bendy Benda".:thumbsup2

Happy Brenda Update Dance!

:rockband: <---Playing the Britney 'Gimme More' song

:dancer: <-----Kind of looks like Britney.

Thank you kindly! I hope the update was actually worth that kind of effort. ;)

I'm glad your feeling better Brenda! Migraines suck, don't they?:headache: And I'm sure your little goblin isn't any fun either.

The food at the Bistro looks divine! And that dessert plate, omg! Do you know if it is possible to do a dessert only meal there? I'm impressed that you only used your fingers on the chocolate streak down the side, I would have been hard pressed to not lick the plate!:)

Thanks - it was, pardon the expression, a crappy couple of days but I am feeling a lot better even this morning.

I actually think you can go to Bistro and just order dessert. In fact, I'm pretty sure I read about Mr. Disney doing just that a year or two ago. He and Kevin ordered every dessert available on the menu that night! :thumbsup2

You might want to call and verify that it would be OK - and I think it's a great idea. In fact ... I may "borrow" it from you for our 2009 trip. :rolleyes1

Thanks for reading, Nancy! The desserts were fabu - give 'em a try sometime, you'll like them!

I almost typed something to the effect that 10 years ago "Benda" would have been appropriate because I used to be very flexible - not anymore. I'm not sure I was ever as flexible as Stacy, though. :lmao:

And you should know better than anyone that as far as I'm concerned there aren't any lines to cross on my threads, unless someone is just being really insulting to someone else and I've never seen that. Fortunately only good-humored, food-lovin' folk seem to hang out on my threads and I love 'em all! :grouphug:

Gotta go the eye doctor this morning ... that means Glaucoma tests and dialeted eyes and not being able to see all damn day. So I hope you all have a great Saturday while I am tucked away in the darkest room of the house waiting for my pupils to return to their normal size. :rotfl2:

Glad you're feeling better Brenda! I'm sold, Bistro is most definitely going on my list.:thumbsup2

BENDA!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I love it. Rob and I giggled at that for quite a few minutes, as we sit in bed, drinking coffee, and reading your trippie. Great Saturday morning!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Heh, this morning I got up, caught up on your trip, hit the back button and noticed one small issue. There wasn't a little arrow over the icon to the left of the title. I've never posted! I'm a lurker! Lock me up and throw away the key! :confused3

Sorry about that. Evidently I'm feeling overly dramatic today. It happens, we all live, DFi gets a little frustrated, and life goes on. :cool1: Anyhow, I wanted to post how much I've loved all your dining reviews. Heck, I think I've even recommended them to a few folks (and I've never even posted a reply)! Ok, better stop, I feel an Oscar winning moment coming on here.

I'm definitely going to keep following this and some of the other F&WF posts. We've got a trip planned for mid October of this year so I need to figure out on which Food and Wine Pairing I'll be putting my money. (No, no Party of the Senses unless I want to be beat senseless by both myself and my DFi. That kinda money doesn't grow on trees, you know!)

I'll be curious to see which pairing you recommend. Of course, I'd also love to know which of the signatures is your absolute favorite. I've been wavering between California Grill and Jiko and am heavily leaning towards California Grill. Thoughts? (No Bistro or V&A for us. We're both students. Those two would break our bank.)

Oh, and hello Miss Cammie and SlightGoofy. I seem to run into your all's posts (and trip reports) everywhere. I have to at least do a passing wave.

Benda!

Everything looks so good....except that cheese plate. What's up with the pulverized nuts?? It looks like nutdust. I've never seen a presentation like that - maybe I'm sheltered. :)

I'm loving the updates - it's so nice that you are back in food-reporting action! :worship: Take care of yourself!

Thanks Kathy! I think you and your DH would really enjoy Bistro - it's expensive but we thought it was worth every penny.

BENDA!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I love it. Rob and I giggled at that for quite a few minutes, as we sit in bed, drinking coffee, and reading your trippie. Great Saturday morning!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Seems like every time I do a trippie I end up with a new nickname.

Hello, my name is Benda and I like food and drink and foodanddrink, in that order. :lmao:

Thanks for reading - I'm glad you and Rob enjoyed it.

A lurker delurks! :yay:

Thanks for reading and for posting so that I can thank you for your kind comments! I'm really glad that you've enjoyed our food reports - Jay and I get a big kick out of them; it's a great way to re-live the vacation.

There will be lots of F&W stuff still to come, but of all the pairings we've done in the last couple of years, I'd definitely recommend Coral Reef - it's easier to book a pairing here because it's usually offered more than one day a week and the food has always been very very good based on our experience and those of others that we've spoken with.

Favorite signature restaurant? That's a tough call. California Grill is always good - they have a nice selection so even pickier people like me can usually find something to eat. Flying Fish is right up there at the top, too; their seafood is tremendous.

Hope you have a wonderful trip this October and if you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks again for reading! :goodvibes

Hello yourself! Thanks for coming back to read some more after I fell into a work-related vortex and disappeared for six weeks.

Yeah, the pulverized nuts were a bit of a puzzlement to us, too. Nut dust ... :rotfl2: ... oh, that's just funny!! Maybe it's the anti-pixie dust? Like when your Disney vacation starts to go bad you've been sprinkled with nut dust. :confused3

Brenda, my friend, I am deeply ashamed to admit that I am just now getting around to your Dining Report of the Damned. Seems like there should be a barge in there, somehow - is that a Klingon thing, or maybe Wagner?

The No Way Jose!!!
16.jpg

Once, while at B&C with hubby and my parents, I tried and tried to talk someone into splittling a No Way Jose with me, but no one would, so I did the only thing I could do. I ate one all by myself! :scared1:

Next stop, the angry booth: Ireland

The thatched roof is entirely lost on this man

Ahh, Ireland

Before leaving the park and making our way over to Stormalong Bay, we decided to have some fun with another new exhibit at the Festival: The Pearville Fair.

The Festival guide reads: visit this slice of Americana where pears have center stage. The variety, flavor, diveristy, and nutritional importance of pears is presented in a series of activities that are designed to engage and enlighten guests of all ages.

It was a cute little display - designed to resemble a small town fair. Our attention was caught by the pear-cut outs that people could pose for pictures in and...an actual topiary!

All hail Plankton and the Pear King!

This pirate craze is unpearable!

This is definitely more Plankton's style...

Maybe you could tell us a Pearable or two about this - maybe The Planktomarian, or perhaps The Planktigal Son. Then again, that might be more than we could pear.

I think I feel the earth rumbling!

Off to catch up some more....

First up: a painfully bright Tigger.

It is physically impossible to take a bad picture of my husband...
104.jpg

AHHH! My eyes! (I'm speaking of Tigger's flourescence, of course, not your very handsome hubby).

Why yes, I think a picture of the two of us with Pooh would be lovely...
109.jpg

Aww - how cute are you guys?

I'm not proud, but by the time the poor bear had moved on Jay and I were doubled over with hysterical juvenile laughter. We moved on from Pooh jokes to those tired old Uranus jokes and then I topped off a grand old morning of laughter with my favorite version of Yankee Doodle, which I first heard when I was six years old. I'm not sure if I can post it here ... it's not really offensive but it is kind of gross. I guarantee that if any of you have children, especially boys, they'd love it. Really intrigued? Send me a PM and we'll have a little conversation.

PM me, baby. (pretty please  )

You can ask Jay - I have a 50% chance to choose correctly and I will invariably pick the wrong answer. So I'm sure you can all imagine my disbelief when we exited Peter Pantsless and found a vest-wearing CM waiting for us with a big smile and a "Congratulations! You're Winners in the Walt Disney World Year of a Million Dreams Giveaway!"

Squee!!! Squeal!!! Squeegee!!! :yay:  :woohoo: :cheer2:

We won Dream Fastpasses for the day at the Magic Kingdom! We were totally pumped to have won something - this was our third visit since the YOMD promotion began last year and we had never seen anyone win a prize and had certainly never won anything ourselves. Now we were on the receiving end of some birthday pixie dust and we had a couple of really cool keepsakes from what turned out to be our only visit to the Magic Kingdom during our entire stay.

I could hear Grimace in the back of my head, "Wow Brenda, today must be your lucky day. Too bad you can't buy lottery tickets at WDW." :lmao:

I make this Dream Fastpass look good!
127.jpg

Fastpass return? I'm not giving this back!
128.jpg

C'mon you wimps, let's ride Space Mountain!
130.jpg

And there you have it. A lovely little gift from Mickey and Company on my birthday in the most magical place you could ever want to be - something Jay and I will never forget that had us grinning from ear to ear for the rest of the morning. :goodvibes

In the next post I guarantee you we will return to food with a report on Casey's and toothsome treats from the Boardwalk Bakery. That will be followed by a DISmeet at Martha's Vinyard and a monster birthday meal at Bistro Paris and then... more dessert!

BTW ... thanks for letting me use the adjective toothsome! For some reason it just cracks me up. :rotfl2:

OOH! OOH! OOH! Dream fastpasses!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Hi Litebrite! Better late than never, and as you've no doubt figured out by now I'm not even half finished. I was thinking more River Styx, although it's actually a title from a Simpsons Halloweeen episode - what else, right? ;)

Once, while at B&C with hubby and my parents, I tried and tried to talk someone into splittling a No Way Jose with me, but no one would, so I did the only thing I could do. I ate one all by myself! :scared1:

Hey, sometimes you just gotta order the dessert despite what everyone else in your party says. I'm impressed that you were able to eat the whole thing, although if I ordered one on the right day at the right time I might be able to eat one all by myself, too.

Maybe you could tell us a Pearable or two about this - maybe The Planktomarian, or perhaps The Planktigal Son. Then again, that might be more than we could pear.

:lmao: I'd forgotten how funny that picture is ... thanks for quoting it!

AHHH! My eyes! (I'm speaking of Tigger's flourescence, of course, not your very handsome hubby).

I've never seen a Tigger that orange before, have you? Either he spent too much time in the tanning bed or he's radioactive. :lmao:

Aww - how cute are you guys?

Thanks. :flower3:

PM me, baby. (pretty please  )

Gross out lyric from Yankee Doodle coming your way! :thumbsup2

OOH! OOH! OOH! Dream fastpasses!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

That's pretty much what I was saying, too! :goodvibes

That totally stinks. I have issues with Ibuprofen as well and end up trying to walk a fine line between not making my stomach and intestines any more upset than they already are and not being in constant pain from other issues on a daily basis.

I'm pretty lucky, all things considered. I take Pentasa daily and that seems to keep the Crohns under control for the most part as long as I don't eat the stuff that seems to really set it off. I've also taken the anti-spaz before, but have been able to forgo that for some time now.

It must be very frustrating not to be able to name the problem - I hope you have more days when you feel well rather than cruddy and wish you all the best with your health.

Somehow I seem to keep it under control... in between I curse the Gods and try to remember that there are better times on the other side...

Enjoying your updates Benda.:goodvibes With food being my addiction of choice you'd think I'd be salavating over all those pictures but you know me all too well. I'm the dessert girl. Thanks for pleasing this dessert junkie with your more than usual dessert pics! :thumbsup2

Brenda... We finally figured out how you could come on our trip!!! (Planky is allowed 2 bags, isn't he? How flexible is Jay?

On the aside... I used to be able to bend like that before my stomach got in the way...

Great update as always Brenda :)

I'm looking forward to your reviews of the afternoon tea and Spoodles. I really enjoyed both of them on my trip in November. :goodvibes

Hi there "Benda"!

My grandson is jealous as the lady in the suitcase trumps his picture doing the self same thing. He was trying to show me that he would fit so he could hijack my Disney trip. If only!!:lovestruc

I grow mint next to my garage just so my husband can pick a leaf and smell it. Of course, at the time I did not realize that is what he intended. I had thoughts of making mint tea etc. Silly me!!

How did you get that picture of me in the topless bathing suit with the strange purple creature? :rotfl:

Have you ever eaten at the Maya Grill? It is unique and we have had some very good food there. Am I the only one who shakes their head at all the folks standing in line for McD fries while at DW???

SG/Linda

Hi "Benda"

New to the boards, but really enjoyed your reviews (think I am just a sucker for Simpsons references).

Gotta admit that the fact that my DW and I are on our third bottle of Guwurztraminer for the night is certainly making anything even remotely silly seem like it was written by Mel Brooks :worship: .

We are thinking of going down for the F&WF this October and any additional information on where to eat is always appreciated. I always put together the Excel spreadsheet with where we are going to eat (with full color maps and everything) so obviously I love information.

We went down for the F&WF in 2006 so info on anything new that they added would be appreciated. Glad you are both feeling better!:goodvibes

Gwverst is one on my faves... If you ever make it to Napa... Sutter home makes a good one...

I excell too... I guess I'm a closet geek and don't want to admit it... ;)

Gwverst is one on my faves... If you ever make it to Napa... Sutter home makes a good one...

Ours are actually from three different New York State Finger Lakes Wineries. Gewurtz is one of the specialties of NYS wines and we go up to the Finger Lakes 2-3 times a year to stock up the 'ol wine cellar

I excell too... I guess I'm a closet geek and don't want to admit it... ;)

Everyone in my party always teases me - until they aske me how to get somewhere :lmao:

Brenda! I am among many who love your reports! Thank you for Bistro! It is one of the few places we haven't done yet and I hope to get to soon. You and your husband seem to drink around the mouse as much as we do!!!:rotfl: Can't wait for more!!!!

BENDA!
:lmao:
:rotfl2:
:rotfl:

Those wacky French.
Lovers of all things cheesy, including Jerry Lewis.
Ahhh....

Whoo...thanks for the good laugh.
It has been a s*cky week...6 out of seven children with stomach flu...
Need I say more???
